Happy Belated Thanksgiving everyone! I don’t really have any major requests this week, but just want to check in with you nonetheless:
Our friends at !t books/HarperCollins love our Tiny Films! They’re really great people over there and they love what we made for the E-BOOK. Thanks everyone for a great job! But, lets keep refining the ones we have and creating new ones — these films tend to go far. We always screen a bunch of them at our live shows — you never know where they’ll end up!
Also, don’t know if you noticed but our website is moving a lot faster these days! Thanks to Brett and his crew for helping us move HITRECORD to a server and a new video encoder. There are still bumps in the road so thanks for bringing them to our attention.
And finally, I have an very exciting announcement to make… but not till next week.
Make sure to check out these weekly RE-RECs, there are some good ones.
Thanks Again!

This week's Regularity is up and in full effect!
Jelly Babies - I absolutely love megancarnes' score to Day Glo's reading and she already has made video request for instrumentalists to come and play. MUSICIANS - let's play on this score! Also - We need more visuals of what this Jelly Land will look like in order to lock down the aesthetic of the short animated film. Check out elayne's and sojushots' contribution and lets keep moving in their creative direction!
BAD ADVICE - Marke gives some great examples of how to turn cliche phrases that we assume are "good advice" (but really aren't) and remix them into what we consider is actually some good advice. He also advises us to really be sure that the remixed result clearly references the original.
Finally - I give an update on all of or payments to contributing artists of 2011
Thanks and thanks again!

Alright, here it is, V2 of We Are Illumination. Added some vocals as well just to beef it up a little. Let me know what you think!
Note: This is the .wav verson. For some reason the .mp3 version wasn't playing correctly on this site? I'm not sure how to delete records too so that's why the .mp3 version is still up. Sorry if there is any confusion.
--------
Another song of Joab's I re-mixed!
Some things I took some liberties on:
- I used about half the tracks that was in Joabs. I felt like the intense doubling took away from the song a bit but I did use some doubling for the vocals in some instances.
- I added my own MIDI drums (Addictive Drums). Yeah I know they don't sound very MIDI haha. Also, because I added my own drums I took some liberties with coming up with the beat and fills.
-EQ'd the hell out of everything as well as put some compression and reverb on a good handful of things.
-----------------
Some issues:
- I have this weird hiss. I may have to do with how the track was recorded, but it seemed abnormally loud for some reason.
- Some timing issues. I guessed at the tempo to lay down the drums (152.5? haha) but those things are a little too hard to fix.
- I was considering re-recording the electric guitars hehe.
Other than that it was fun! Give me some feedback!
My 1st Mix of this song.
Not exactly my best mix -
I was really looking for a high-frequency type sound to go along with the beat in the louder part but I had trouble with it and left it out.
I took a few liberties with the song in some places, I hop Joab doesn't mind :D
Send me stuff to mix! :D
This is a little REmix to Joab Nevo's awesome "Opposite Girl." It had kind of an 80s driving feel to me, which I love, so I kind of played that up a bit.
Hope it finds you inspired!
This still is most likely not the final cut, but I wanted to get feedback about whether or not i should edit further, or keep as is.
Best sound quality on headphones.

lyrics:
There's a welcome party held under ground
For the salty girl from our sugar town
She's the chosen queen
Of our little scene
And she's back after the operation
All the girls and boys
Out there making noise
Came to show her a sweet time / Are in awe of the alteration
So very sugary now
We’re gonna make her feel secured (Can't shake off that sensation)
Protected, safe and re-assured (This feeling of sedation)
We've finally had her fully cured (Lack of orientation)
So sweet, from head to tit to feet (Can't shake off that sensation)
So holy, so right, so complete (She's lost in their translation)
So sweet, She's soon to have a fit (Succumb to desperation)
So very sugary now
She's the chosen queen
Of our little scene
And she's back after the operation
All the girls and boys
Out there making noise
Are in awe of the alteration
She's out on a limb
It's a broken dream
Caught in a chemical reaction
Now it all looks grim
And her lights are dim
Can't shake it off, shake shake it off OFF
Best full-screen with headphones
I saw Sirius Dan's raw footage that he origianally made for Departures, and I really liked it especially with Joab Nevo's song with Babbish "Opposite Girl" So I did a little re-arranging of Dan's clips and added some footage by Joe and Anita. I still think it could use some more footage, maybe put in a couple effects where the girls spinning and the guy is walking away from the camera by himself.
Anyway, thought I'd post it to see if anyone had any ideas or suggestions for it.

Started the project around midnight and with having too much fun ended up finishing the whole song collage at 2:30 am. It's amazing how things fall into place like these songs which probably never intended to be together somehow fits as one cohesive song. The song is pretty minimal hoping for other people to build upon it!

Joab Nevo's picture was inspiring, so I wrote this poem:
My so-called friends all speak the same. |

A doodle for Joab Nevo's story.
The floor, it so envied that all-mighty ceiling,
Unburdened above - it looked so damn appealing!
Never stepped on or bothered, just observing it all,
"So smug, and superior, making me feel so small".
What the floor didn't realize, and would never have guessed,
Was that the ceiling, it thought that the floor had it best.
Getting stepped on, acknowledged, (and constantly washed),
"I am merely observing, but the floor - it is touched".
So this my first illustration. A little elementary I know but an ode to my friend Joab, his great text, his new baby Zoe and the shadow beings!
I made the sad emotions come from the gloams stuck on the perfect ceiling in the un-natural iight all day long. While the sweet babe wrecks havoc on the floor (as we know they do) -this is midday in my illusration-and you can see the torture yet fun of the shadow beings during their usual time in Umbra.
I focused on the ceiling b/c I believe Joab's text does the same for me. Anyway hope ya like, if not- I really enjoyed trying my hand at illustrating and I'm putting it in the collabs!

This was more of an exercise for myself, as this is the first time I've RECorded myself reading orally. Any input, suggestions, etc. are welcome and encouraged! I teach first grade (in the south, so yeah. the accent), and pretty much all of my experience lies in my reading aloud to them. :)
Thanks.
AnneMarije challenged me to make a Tiny Tune from Joab Nevo's "The floor and the ceiling" tiny story, so here it is! I apologize for excluding one word, I have little ones at home and never let anything come out of my mouth that I wouldn't want repeated!

I could not get the idea of dance instruction diagrams and the shoes physically on opposite sides (so the right shoe is literally left) out of my head after reading this very clever tiny story <3
Sorry about the image quality. My main computer died so I am without photo editing software or a scanner for a bit.
try to make another illustration according to Joab Nevo's comment.
i can't quote it now cause i can't find it. may be it wasn't real and i saw it in my dream? -_-
The right shoe left,
Knowing the left shoe was right.
This is an idea for illustration for tiny story - the right shoe. It’s just an idea, I’m not very good at making an illustration look actually presentable. I will explain my idea( if everyone ignore grammar and spelling mistakes that maybe appear :).
Unbelievable as it is, that red thing in upper part of a sketch is a shoe that is leaving, from behind.
So, this tiny story in this context would be a metaphor.
The right shoe (not the shoe for the right foot, just the shoe that is right one when a pair of 2 exactly same shoes are in question) is leaving, and the other red shoe is with green shoe, the left one (for the left foot)and they are right for each other. The red shoe left because the green left shoe was right one for the other red shoe.
The illustration can also show 2 left shoes, so that actually the right shoe is leaving, but the idea is same.
I’m aware of the fact that the phrase is that someone is the right one for someone, not just that someone is right, like in this tiny story.. But it can inspire someone in some way.. maybe..

"Having realized that the tiny devil just needed a shoulder to cry on, the tiny angel felt pretty awkward for automatically popping up on the other one."
This is an illustration inspired by Joab Nevo's - A Tiny Mishap (Tiny Story)
Did some imagining with your words and the explanation you made...came up with this, Joab. Decided to use a more 'sketchy' feel to keep the comical element to it, not to mention room for REmixes as well.
Anyway, hope it's of any good :)
P.S - Decided to use the quote just to make it sound more sarcastic for the angel

In keeping with the theme of tinyness, I decided to try what I'm calling a tiny drawing. I've always been interested in the interaction between pen and paper at a micro level, so I thought it would be appropriate to try tiny illustrations of some of my favorite tiny stories. Joab Nevo's story inspired this one.
The original drawing was less than 1 inch square, then scanned at high resolution.
I think the process is more interesting than the result, but maybe someone else will be inspired and improve the technique?

"His days were numbered." by: Joab Nevo
Yet another Dialogue Tale acted out. This one written by Joab Nevo! I loved the quick one to two word lines, made for some fun editing.
Is it possible that playing with yourself in the mirror too much is unhealthy? (Don't worry I'll accept the answer for either connotation of that question)
Next episode: I go outside and talk to REAL human beings!
remix of Joab Nevo's "Eselmund"
I absolutely LOVE this picture and thought a burst of color would be great!
Here it is, a grand tiny love song mashup made of 11 different great tiny stories! This time I can proudly say that I think the lyrics are awesome... I had to remix the stories so they fit the song, some more than others, but you can find all of them from the resources!
Enjoy <3
Lyrics:
Have you heard about the right shoe
who left knowing the left shoe was right? (Joab Nevo, The Right Shoe)
Or about the jealous stars who sometimes
cut the power of the city lights? (ubespidermonkey, Jealous Stars)
I know when you asked my hand
I just gave you the finger (Joab Nevo, The Proposal)
And that all of your letters came back
saying "return to sender" (MattConley, Return To Sender)
-
I didn't know where I stood with you
But I knew it was very far away (emilynava, Where I stand)
I got tired of being tired of being tired of being
So tired of being tired of being tired of being (Marke, Tired)
-
But your kisses are snowflakes, each one is unique
Oh how they used to land on me'
Before they melt away and left me cold (blunderandfrightering, Snowflakes.)
Now I'm standing here under this umbrella
And I can do an accapella
And when it pours this song is always yours (KarlaMarie, When it rains)
-
Can't you see I needed some time away
to remember why I stay (eaneikciv, stay away)
So couldn't we just hibernate?
Oh baby please let's hibernate.
Oh come on babe let's hibernate
Come on babe let's hibernate (mirtle, hibernate)
-
'Cause the world ain't made of atoms
it's made of tiny stories (wirrow [I con't know if this is anywhere as a record...])
And this one is ours so baby won't you stay!

Did some Metasynth magic on the orginal track and then added the bachground vocals back in. Much more ambient.

I've listened to it before and thought it was good but actually reviewing it has made me appreciate this song so much more. I love the irony in it. The song itself has a mellow and sort of "hippie" feel while at the same time being a little dreary or monotonous (by all means NOT boring! It's just your rhythm that implies that notion of repetition with which we tend to connect monotony)... BUT the lyrics are ANYTHING BUT that lol . Well, it partially addresses monotony but the other part is, well, somthing quite different :-D That irony makes me think of the movie AMERICAN PSYCHO - your song has the same macabre kind of humor (unless I'm totally misinterpreting your song and then I'm in deep shit lol). I really love it.
There is one sound in it that I'm not sure I love or not, especially initially. It's the very first beat we hear - has that little skipping/echo type of sound to it. On one hand I feel it adds color because it's a really interesting sound, on the other it kept distracting me at first from listening to the rest because it reminded me of a skipping record. In that sense it felt more like "bad quality" in that particular sound than being intentional. Once I had heard the whole song I was totally over it and now i actually feel that little sound feeds into the message of your song overall. So, from that perspective I feel this song is one of those that grows on you the more you listen to it. Not sure if that makes sense, nor if you should do anything about that little sound. If you did, I bet I'd miss it lol
The zip includes a pdf that takes a closer look at your lyrics. There were areas that I felt were a tad forced. Nothing major though.
Nice work. Really really like this one <3

This is a Tiny Tune that I made for Joab Nevo's excellent Tiny Story, "Universe", in the resource below. Please check it out if you haven't. The mood behind this tune might not be the most accurate, but then again, I felt that Joab's story could be interpreted in many different ways. :)

I was inspired by some Braille Art I came across on etsy and tumblr, recently. This piece (REmix) was handmade and the photograph was shot in December 2012.
I used a braille font for my template, and an online translator, so I pray that the braille translation is correct.
Text reads: My innocence is your canvas
<3
I was inspired by Seldelaterre's "The Cutting Edge"...the melody's really simple and lullaby-ish, (Joab Nevo's track was so perfect for what I had in mind!) but it gets more and more sinister as you realise everyone can see what you are dreaming!
I would love there to be more voices on this..as it grows and grows into a sinister chorus!
LYRICS:
My body’s gone
I cannot see my feet
My body’s gone
My mind is free
Take me far away
My mind is free
Lean back, breathe
It’s just you, just me
Show me
The sleeping things you see
Slowly
The things you make believe
Are leaving your dreams
Streaming through
Your waking eyes
Becoming truth
Eyelids close
Television screens
One last dose
Cinemas
Behind your eyes
Everyone knows
Lean back breathe
Everyone can see
On movie screens
The sleeping things you see
This is a slight addition to an eerily familiar and beautiful song from Pamagotchi and Joab Nevo, based on a real favourite collab of mine by seldelaterre by the name of 'The Cutting Edge', you may have heard of it.
I added some vocal harmonies and octave doubling. Just wanted to build up that ending nicely, it's so well done. I also introduced some more strings to build some intensity at the end. My remixing really only happens after the 2 minute marker, because I thought the isolation of Pam's voice is just too pure and moving to mess with.
I also want to add, Joab, that the musical patterns that you've used in this piece have been incredible to listen to. I'm really inspired.
And as usual, it's much more enjoyable with headphones/HQ speakers, but no one's watching...

I know Joab Nevo's story has been remixed countless times already, but once I saw spectaclephoto's picture I could think of nothing else but Joab Nevo's excellent tiny story! I played around with the type and settled with placing it in a loop shape to reflect the ambiguity of the beginning vs. the end.
And in this vast universe grew a boy.
And in this boy grew a vast universe.
I was unable to find the image MisterB used for his collaboration 3 years ago. I have attached as a collaboration. I had to save the very small image to the desktop to get it into PHOTOshop. I wish I had a better starting image to work with.
