This was one of many times the police formed a heavy cordon to stop people getting into the main protest area in front of the cathedral, which wasn't even the intended location of the demo at the time. Was meant to be Paternoster Square (where the London Stock Exchange is) but the police had pre-emptively sealed it on all sides with police lines several men deep as well as dogs and horses. This bottlenecking of the flow of people caused demonstrators to spill into surrounding side streets while waiting to get it, even though there was still lots of room in the churchyard.
Wish he'd played a bit more!
