Hours in photoshop: Would rather not know Number of espressos: Approaching triple digits Dress sense while drawing: Hipster scrooge It's pretty regular in the comics (and film) industry to start with a script and work towards a visual realisation of that script. However, sometimes it's interesting to work backwards. I was wondering what it would be like to start with the image and work toward the story. With that in mind, I drew this, leaving the story pretty open. It's be awesome if any of the more writerly of hitrecord would be interested in penning a (pretty short) science fiction story to go along with this illustration. If not, as always, do whatever you please with it. Enjoy! SnickerSnack
I hope you like it.
A remix of two seriously awesome RECords...!
This came out a bit Bob Dylan ^_^
Just the one take <3
Christmas and apocalypse is here.
I was hesitant to post this at first because it's so raw (no music, no VO, not even partially completed, etc etc)...but I thought I'd share what I'm working on.
This is just the beginning of a much larger, more complex animation than I've ever done.
We'll see where this goes!
I found a really cool NASA shot that looked like an eye (which made me think of dusty's instructions) and started playing around with the amazing things that have come out of "cosmic significance"... it could probably benefit from more layers? Advice always welcome, as I am still very new to video editing...
also if anyone has footage of catching a snowflake on your tongue and swallowing, i thought that could be a really cool ending to this - catching pondergoblin's snowflake/star? but I couldn't find anything that worked...
I thought of this idea when I shot the "waiting..." footage last night. Going through LizSmall's emotions collab inspired me to pull some of the footage from contributions there into making a commercial for the new Tiny Book of Tiny Stories, Volume 1. The pprescott released her gorgeous footage and I decided to give it a rough edit tonight.
There are a few things I'd like to work on:
1. The voice over. I wrote this out really quickly, and I'm not 100% pleased with it. If someone could remix it, I'd love to hear their ideas. I'd like to keep the VO focused on emotions though, as that's the footage I want to use. The footage I select is tied very carefully to the VO, so that's something to keep in mind:
Are you worried about what to get your friends and family this holiday season? Bored by the same old presents every year? Frustrated by large crowds and long lines? Well put down that book and check this out! The Tiny Book of Tiny Stories Volume One is here! Filled with page after page of impeccably illustrated, beautifully brief tales of happiness, sorrow and everything in between, the Tiny Book of Tiny Stories is sure to put a smile on anyone’s face. Available online or in stores at any of these fine retailers, you can get yours today and turn that holiday drear into holiday cheer!
2. More shots of the Tiny Book of Tiny Stories, Volume 1, in much the same way as pprescott has provided. I think it would also be great to get footage of people holding the TBOTS and being really happy about it.
3. More emotions, especially as they relate to the emotions in the VO. I'd like a variety of takes on them, but I'm leaning more toward "big" because I want to keep this sort of lighthearted and fun.
4. A good background music. Suggestions are welcomed.
So yeah, definitely open to any feedback/advice/help you're willing to give!
A story about something.
I felt Day Glo hit the nail on the head with one of his takes of "Goblin Ears." I was eager to mix in his voice over and sort of create a first version of this Tiny Film.
The "VO REquest" is resourced below, so anyone can upload their reading. This first version will help provide the timing of some of the visual cues, so it would be best to watch this while doing any readings.
