I was going to do two readings: one deadpan, one dramatic, but ended up with one sort of in between. Since I imagine the new video will sample a variety of different voices rather than just using one, thought I'd put it up as it is.

Calling all Vocal Artists, all Audio Mixers, all Video Editors!

You might know our record "and a new earth", it is definitely one of the most impactful short films to have come out of HITRECORD and we play it at all of our shows. And I was thinking that Sundance 2012 is a great reason for us to make another version of it!

I absolutely love the original, it's a beautiful piece both in style and in substance.  wirrow wrote the text and set it to a timelapse from the site while adding an instrumental track that he had made. The simplicity of it is what makes it so impactful. (here is the link to the original or you can check the resources below. http://hitrecord.org/records/141257)

But I've always wondered what it would be like if we took it to the next step because I feel this piece is really conducive to our mass collaborative creative process. 

So here's what to do: 

• Vocal Artists, Actors, Poets - record yourself reading the text of the original video.  You can read it however you like, but it may be that the more similar to the original the better.


• Audio Mixers - Mix together a large creative combination of these different recordings of everyone reading the text. 


• Video Editors - Let's start providing and editing visuals into a big montage that corresponds to the text. Remember, sometimes it's not the most literal 


• connection that is best, but maybe something less obvious that still provokes the same sentiment as the text. 

Once again, the original is so beautiful in it's simplicity that I believe this can be equally as strong in it's multiplicity.  And I wanna screen it at Sundance... so let's get to work.

So I had an amazing year on HitRECord. I saw some amazing art get made and I was lucky enough to be a part of some amazing things. I put this video together to kind of just compile my year's work and also say thank you to all the wonderfull recorders that I have worked with and those of you who have inspired me.

Well, you all know that I love to add colors to the black and white drawings, and since I saw this one, I knew that I have to do something with this! So I decide to make a remix, I hope you all like this!

Tori, you may not know this; but one of the first records I ever made was a poem called the Juggler. Based off of your amazing animation. So you were one of the first recorders I ever saw on here. It really made me want to stay on HR after I became a member. Hope you enjoy this little Christmas gift!

here is my version of turniphead, i couldn't decide on his attire or face so i did a few versions.

Put together a Tiny Film for MadisenMusic's "Sleep Contrast" Tiny Story.

I would like to tighten up the intro with the couple. I'll probably cut from them in the two shot and maybe silhouette the backs of their heads with a reworked composition of the TV. The hand-holding is a bit distracting I think and doesn't really establishinsomnia in any waY. 

When the Lumber Jack took a work break, for a brief afternoon nap; the tree grabbed the chainsaw, and cut the Lumber Jack in half. ....Side note, I'm not that great at giving gifts hahaha

This is elayne's line work, which I liked very much, and I felt totally impelled to try putting some colour with it. And I'm really hoping it comes out ok!

Let's make an animated short film out of Metaphorest's darkly delightful short text and Gary Oldman's glorious live performance of it.  First step is to design the main character.  ILLUSTRATORS: let's see your version of this guy.  He should be a prim and proper, buttoned up, completely normal looking man EXCEPT for his turnip head.

Once we've got the main character, we can start creating the other elements that will make up the settings and scenes, animate them, scoring the piece, editing it together, etc...

I wanna screen this at our upcoming Sundance show, so we're on a bit of a tight deadline, but between the lot of us, I think we'll be good.

This started out all pink and fluffy... and then I think my inner tomboy couldn't deal with it and it took a slightly "hellish" turn  O_o  I have no idea...

JESTERLADY - A Poem

I'd like to say a few words about Jesterlady

That I'm sure you'd like to hear

Always with a smile on her face

And a flower tucked behind her ear

She is so supportive of others

And has so much love to share

We eagerly wait for her weekly albums

To see if our RECords are there

When we are sad and need comforting

She'll give us a hug to brighten our day

When I was told by Kat that my Secret Santa friend was Jesterlady, I was excited and nervous at the same time because I didn't know what I was going to do. I went through most of Jesterlady's Reel and used the tiny stories she has written.

P.S. The snowman was drawn by my niece, I painted it on glass ;D

Sometimes the most fun art to make is that with the materials you were just about to throw away.

This is my concept board for The Man With A Turnip for a Head.

I don't know why, but I imagined a a 30's dandy style of clothing would really suit the Turnip man. I think that basically if everything was in a 1930s style it'd be more appealing. If you had a turnip for a head, I think you'd try and look as fashionable and sharp as possible to detract from your undersized and weird head.

Emma Conner's remark on AnneMarije's RECord "Grim Reaper (horror collab)" made me think about doing it and Lawrie Brewster's REcord "Something I haven't told you" at it's conclusion made me decide to do it. So, using fringesoflife's "a world traveler." RECord as a reference, I made this. Hope it's kinda creepy :)

The photoshop work on this at 100% leaves something to be desired, but I still think it's worth uploading for remix purposes :)

There are so many great And A New Earth voiceovers already! I am by NO means an experienced sound mixer, but I wanted to cut some of these together and see how great it is to hear a multitude of voices reading And A New Earth. I experimented with pace and the speed of switching voices, but I'd really like to see some work done with echoes/overlapping/etc.. This reprise project has so much potential!

(P.S. If you're in here and I forgot to resource you, just yell at me and I'll add ya! I think I got everybody though..)
