All hearts given for this week.
As always, with dashboards not getting anything through, link anything you want me to see or respond to here!
i'm thankful for the sunlight,
and the clothing on my back.
i'm thankful for my husband,
(and yes i do mean that).
i'm thankful for my children,
that i get to watch them grow.
i'm thankful for the days gone by,
and for things i've come to know.
i'm thankful for my home
and for the roof above my head,
i'm thankful for dirty dishes,
that mean my family's been fed.
Music is by two seconds away, downloaded via their Free Music Monday podcast on iTunes.
Piano music at end of clip is from Garage Band Loops.
Words are written by Metaphorest.
Photo as icon was taken by me.
Sorry about the voice quality, my microphone was not working.
Since it made it to the UK, I can now finally show it to you ;o)
I finished it 2 days ago but had to keep it a secret until Lydia recieved it.
Lydia asked me to make this and I know she was hoping I could send it over so she could make something with it and then send it back.
Now she gets to keep it forever and ever. ;o)
Oh, I need to thank librarygirl6! ;o)

Hi Guys! First, I want to say thanks to all the hitrecorders that sent me videos and Vo's for my collab, as I told you, I was asking for this contributions because I wanted to do something nice for all of you, and here it is, it's a video with music, your Vo's and videos and some illustrations and videos about Xmas, I hope you all like this!
I'll be out of internet from December 26 to January 1rst! So, I am going to make this week re recs and the other one and then I'll be out from 26 and I'll be back again at HR until January 2nd, so Merry Xmas to all and Happy New Year! Love you all! It's been a fantastic year at HR and I hope the next one will be the same or better to all of us! :o)
I used this two videos that are in the public domain:
Fireplace, public domain

Aluminum Christmas Tree 2, public domain

Love ya all,
Gaby
Cerebis and SFBakstad have provided resource material for hundreds of videos on the site. They are both hugely generous and talented. Their wonderful body of work stands alone as well, as a being incorprated into others projects.
I've decided to add this catagory to the existing ones, hope you don't mind Gaby:)
Non-traditional snowflakes. Really, they're just old random doodles I'm calling snowflakes in honor of what's outside right now. Think about how every single snowflake is unique and then think about how many individual snowflakes just fell out of the sky recently. That is art, freely and publically shared, on a mind-boggling scale.

A song i wrote some time ago.
I am leaving now, if you care. I just don't see the point nowhere, anymore. I'll leave it all behind, and see where it goes from there. Walking out that door showed me how I'll miss you forever, you know I'll never let it go. Because there is no point in leaving.
A vocals-only Christmas song that needs some help! It's 72bpm. Music it up? Pleeease? (Ps. Not sure bout this one)
Well it’s frightful outside
In the snow so we’ll hide
In our little lovenest by the fire
In a blanket for two
Nothing I’d rather do
Than cosy up for christmas with you
Bells are ringing and they’re singing
Let them carol away in the cold
For the whole winter through
Sleigh ridin snow sliding
That’s not for me
I’ll sit by the fire with a warm cup of tea
Well the winter winds wail
Round the treetops turned pale
From the icy cold breath of the moon
Snuggled up safe and warm
I could want nothing more cos I’m
Cosied up for Christmas with you
Merry Christmas Sherb! I thought who better than you to express what Christmas really means. Hope you enjoy:)
Two versions, with a completely reversed meaning in the second one.
Ah, the joy of a purposeful. Pause.
Loved the story. Definitely aiming for the silly side on this one. Fun!

Here is another song I wrote in the theme of "Forever Alone." I think I'm gonna release an E.P. called "Forever Alone." Haha.
This song has a lot of room for growth and additional instrumentation and maybe some harmonies and such. REMIX!!!
NEVER DERP BEFORE YOU HERP.
HERP BEFORE YOU DERP.
To be honest, I just thought Metaphorest's "Wolves are so hip right now" would make a good body type for the Turnip man and the head on the turnip man done in adhgraphicdesigns "Turnip Head in a Different Light (tiny story & REmix)" fit with the frame extremely well in my estimation. I liked how it look so, I plunked them together and posted it on here. Hope people find it an enjoyable combination. Cheers!
I was inspired by MERYLtastic's A New Earth Visual Poem, where she did something very similar to this, where the poem is shaped to a globe. She said to freel free to play around, and I have played with fonts and colour! The closer to the end of the poem you get, the more diverse the fonts are, although I don't know how well that comes across.
And of course, I couldn't have done it without the transcription!
UPDATE 10th Jan 2012:
I'm going to go ahead and contribute this to the New Earth Typography collab started by RegularJoe. I know this RECord isn't what he was asking for (i.e. it's not separate lines to be used individually as titles) but because it is typography, it seemed appropriate, somehow. Maybe it will foster ideas? Or help in some way? At any rate, I thought it couldn't hurt.
Finals week sucks. People come up with all kinds of silly ways to get around staying in the library all night and pretending to study. At Columbia, we kill time by making it sound like we're all killing each other! Hence, Primal Scream.
This is the story of a survivor.

Cam asked for more shots of faces for his and a new earth video. Well, the easiest person I have access to is Stella. I thought perhaps having a baby would give some variety too. And it can be used for any necessary baby footage for anything else.
I was going to edit this down, put it in black and white, etc. but I thought leaving it raw would allow for more possibilities.
Don't know if this is useful, but Cameron wanted some more stoic-like faces and stuff for the remix. Or maybe this can be used for something else.
The hi-res version of this had an error D:
I am working on some city/signs footage also. Should be up in a few days.
GIMMIE THE BEEF
errrr... REMIXES!
This is really just a sketch of what it could be! I like the idea of taking real world images and people and putting them into it. The peice itself almost feels like building up an army of soldiers of hope. Please feel free to re-edit and/or film some stuff for it! :D I really like dreamy type stuff. That would work well for this! So if you are good with effects or coolio stuff like that, it would all help climax.
Here is the 2.1 version with much more narrative! http://hitrecord.org/records/600521
And here is 2.2 versioned with more footages! http://hitrecord.org/records/620712

Another character that i thought i would drop off into the hitrecord carehome.
I tried to recreate an aged pilot. He used to sale the skys but is now resigned to the ground. Drawn with a vacant look on his face. He's loosing what was once his and his alone, memories. The skys he once called 'home' and clouds he once called 'friend', are leaving him for greener pastures.

This Tiny Film needs several things from the community. Below are some notes for each request:
1) VOICE OVER
- The best way to time the reading of yes-you-am's story is to read along with the video (and you'll probably want to conclude the reading before the dissolve into winter.)
- Here is the text: In the end, he just decided to call it an early Christmas decoration.
- I'd imagine the vocal tone to be pretty matter-of-fact. There probably shouldn't be much expression in the reading I'd imagine. It's pretty straight forward as it's essentially a narrator making a statement.
- As always, multiple takes are key when doing readings. Uploading as many takes with as much variety as possible is crucial.
2) MUSIC
- Since the video is quite short, I think the music should be pretty subtle. There is a transformation of seasons, and from light to dark. That's probably the best way to think of how the score should sound and I envision a slight shift in tone during the dissolve into winter.
- The more variety in musical options, the better. Feel free to upload with the music attached to the video (especially if there are certain cues that need to be emphasized.)
3) SOUND F/X
- Sound effects are not necessarily crucial to the piece, but they may add a nice touch.
- I think some birds chirping during the summer section may be nice.
- I think for the winter part that some soft breeze rolling in as the snow begins to fall may also be a nice subtle touch.
*ADDITIONAL NOTES*
- I can always adjust the timing and play around with the animation further. This is pretty much a rough draft visual-wise.
- My biggest concern at the moment is that the kite stands out enough to the viewer. Surely the narrator will help alert the viewer to it but I do want to be sure the eye notices it rather quickly when the animation sequence first begins.
- If anyone has any suggestions for additions, alterations, etc. then please leave a remark.
THANKS!

So, I wrote these sappy lyrics about Christmas a week or so back, and I figured I would try and turn them into a song...so tadah! Christmas power pop! Used MeganCarnes' wonderful "Float Away" instrumental.
Dedicated to you all: thank you for your constant love and encouragement. I wish you all Happy Holidays and all the best for the year to come! Let's make it a cracker <3
I love doing comic strip cut-outs, and I thought that the Turnip Head story would lend itself well to this medium. Everyone's turnip man character concepts have been great so far, so I worked with a few of them - combining rinku726's character with the car from thefuture's illustrations. And I couldn't have done it without mirtle's illustration of the jeering children and cat-cat's character sheet!
and this heart
it only beats for you
and this love
i release is true
for two weeks
i shut myself in
to find a place
i could call home
but there you were
haunting my dreams
would you follow me down
the rabbit hole
if you knew it would take you
somewhere you'd never been
let it call you home...
