kouralilly [core-a-lilly]: (n) - 1. an idea or communication derived from one already in existence.
2. a new idea formed on a continuous path of existing ideas, thereby forming a new foundation for further creation and ideas.
these are a collection of remixed RECords - an idea put out by earlier artists, changed by me and hereby put forward for further creation.
and while i actually picked the name kouralilly for a completely different reason then the above...it fits :)
i was actually looking for an image RECord of a person, but couldn't find any i liked that fit the wings.
then i was just going to RECord the wings - and the rest just fell into place.
taking a chance remixing this portrait - but wanted to see what would happen with some color and blowing out the windows and some of the floor to draw more attention to the man in the chair. (who i assume is jason...the origninal RECord is jsonclite's portrait).
really i only changed some brightness, saturation, shadows and highlights...was a good shot to begin with.
while the original shot by linedreamer is so beautiful, and i love it with more color remixed - i wanted to see another side of it with a darker tone and more focus on the woman's face...
if only we could all be so stoic as our scripts get thrown back in our face.
ok - i actually have no idea what the concept is behind this picture as jsonclite took it. but i could just picture an enraged publisher or editor or agent literally tossing a script back in the face of a writer while screaming red-faced. and the writer just standing there not reacting amongst the snow-flurry of pages fluttering all around him.
i couldn't resist mixing these together.
in case you can't read the font:
"Sometimes I say, ‘again by heart’.
The syllable 'CORD' is supposedly
a variation on an ancient
proto-indo-european root word --
the same as core, corps, cœur --
"'RE' is an old prefix indicating repetition.
So, in that sense, I've been RECording
as long as my heart's been beating
over and over and over again.
And so have you."
emma conner did a beautiful job creating "life through a lens." in making the iris a RECord button, she really captured the concept that our eyes are our first cameras.
i know these are not the most recent RECords - but i fell in love with them and had to mix them together.
if i were sixteen, this would be a poster on my bedroom wall - or a card in my locker.
such a perfect tiny story by inkedcanvas - and cacheth drew such a perfect illustration (in my opinion :))
here's to the barefoot crazies <3
not sure if this was a direction you were looking for...it is actually a pretty cool shot and can go in several directions. tried to go in a poloriodish direction...
ok - so i cheated and only colored in the characters...but i like this little twist in concepts by badbuddah0
i think this photo by jsonclite is incredibly sexy.
i got the lipstick idea to put a spin on it from a vanity fair magazine cover... and from peter pan (the 2003 version...)
i love the little silluette of the dude with a tie in the lower left corner of the brick...
great RECord from shijoy10, remixed
i saw sbo's frost fairie poppy - then i saw kestrel's frost fairy dresses and i knew what i had to do next!
i'm working on a limited computer here, so i only had microsoft paint and windows live photo gallery to work with...made for a fun challenge.
voila - a poppy frost farie! :) (her name is gretta)
liked this shot of MKhamal - wanted to see it reframed and more in black and white...(did a few other little retouches to it as well...but not too much).
this needs music - and more animation/images/story....i'll keep looking but i wanted to start with something.
i'm thankful for the sunlight,
and the clothing on my back.
i'm thankful for my husband,
(and yes i do mean that).
i'm thankful for my children,
that i get to watch them grow.
i'm thankful for the days gone by,
and for things i've come to know.
i'm thankful for my home
and for the roof above my head,
i'm thankful for dirty dishes,
that mean my family's been fed.
this lampost can be remixed endlessly!
this one was a quickly shut and re-opened single see-globe to the morgan m morgansen series...
to me, this lampost should have snow and be on a holiday card! i just am only so knowledgeable in the field of photoshop!
once again though - awesome original record!
loved this by xanlee - wanted to add some color and little bit of contrast. love that you can see the camera in the side mirror of the car.
i was flipping through "random records" and hit this portrait from beth_elen.
i immediately thought of likeadisco's tiny story truth about kissing.
i saw dina's story after i saw this picture and i had to put them together...then i came back and saw she already remixed it with another story, with the exact same composition. i do think this one works as an alternate at least so here it is.
nice original RECords scottwlkr and dina.
there was so much color waiting to be unleashed in this shot by mrbosslady - makes this lens look like a gemstone.
beautiful RECord mrbosslady!
this is a piece made to be potential stock-type footage for the "and a new earth" reprise.
it moves through different speeds, colors and tones. can be cut, looped, etc in different places. and i have the individual images which comprise this if needed/wanted by anyone.
i was thinking a piece of this could maybe fit in any of the following places:
"the omnipresent corporate cafes" or "with all the aroma of neatness and control" or "so we reduce you to simplicity" or "the tranquil melody of corporate lullaby"
or wherever (if anywhere) it seems to fit, for you.
ok - so now that the game really has started, i'm going to add my tiny story here as my "first" move:
she slipped away to the shadows, avoiding the light.
"safe," she thought, letting out a sigh of relief. "there was no one who saw."
but the leaves were watching.
i like the stained glass window look of this
(though my godbrother sitting next to me likes the original better :))
ps - i know joe asked for annimations of these...but i am a crap annimator, so this was what i could think of to do to contribute.
ok this was not the direction i was planning on going with this when i downloaded it...but sometimes an image has a mind of its own as far as what it wants to say :)
and it is going in the re: independence collab!
tania c - this is an a-m-a-z-i-n-g shot!!
i’m craving love.
love looped around and dotted and crossed. love flowing and ceasing and rhyming and completing. love with no meaning and love with many meanings.&...
so while i was remixing this, "we are the city" came up on my hitRECord playlist...though it was on shuffle...hmmm... :)
beautiful original shot by nicolecortese :)
is a little tough as i only have microsoft paint...so i can't do cool things like make the letters glow or add drop-shadows...so feel free to remix this furher!
but this is my mix of minstrills lost and found with picture, and isacs amasing song of freedom.
both totally awesome RECords :)
ok - this is an attempt to blend toegther all the amazingly creative works which have been produced by all playing the collab game so far...
(ok harp - here's a go at my interpretation of your poem...
i do like the concepts a lot by the way...)
this is the journe...
i might be a crazy dreamer.
i might have the stars in my eyes.
i might believe the impossible.
and think nothing is not worth a try.
ok - this is my proposal for the opening of our final collab :)
i put the names in alphabetical order to save on 'seniority' sequence issues.
i would like to do credits too, but that would be once we are all done. i will post a comment under the collab forum on that so i can make sure we include everyone (inckuding 12.42 for the good sky in motion clip that i used for this :))
i figured it can go from this, fade to black into the short, then fade back to black, roll credits. :) we put enough work into this whole game to have a really cool polished finish piece, i think.
i am willing to help with the editing of the actual story as well, im just trying to figure out windows live movie maker as i have none of my editing programs to hand at home! and it is a very limited program!
ah! i spelled gaby's name wrong! please see v 2.0 for corrected version!
ok - this is the corrected version with gabys name spelled properly!!
honestly, to save time i am just resourcing v.1 for this, as it has all the resources listed.
i really liked this shot by ekaterina filina. her caption was basically that her mother once said you can learn from your mistakes, but it is better to learn from books.
i'm remixing the image and the caption:
first - i love the light on the face :)
"the best road to competence is to look, listen and learn." :)
(i think she knew what she was talking about :))
plus i like the idea that sometimes it is the littlest thing that can make the biggest difference. :)
i must say that i had seen a few of your remixes and other RECords in the past, but i had never really gone and really looked through them.
your work is beautiful! it was so fun to make this for you!
i hope you like it, and that you have a very happy valentine's day! :)
i kinda liked this image as an image so thought i'd upload it :)
i had remixed this for bloemday's secret valentine RECord and turned a pisa the moon into a pisa a heart :)
as i watch the clock click off the minutes, i try to think of anything else.
the last burning flakes from my cigarette crumble to the table, and i don’t even move to dust...
he raises up his camera, sets the focus, shutter – click.
he checks the image, then frames up again, catching the laughter.
checking the image ag...
when i saw this photo by jestferlaffs, i couldn't get this combination off my mind!
i tried to come up with something playing more to the light then the shadows, but this just stuck!
for gaby's hitRECord challenge 2012 collab, karengayle challenged me to select the first random text or image RECord under the "random RECord" button - and REmix it...
the button pulled up "(icon) soledad" by ighess...and i chose to remix it with annemarije's awesome poem "reading."
i edited the poem slightly, mainly for rhythm...and i changed the last line to suit the remix (imho).
thanks for the challenge karen! (wasn't easy! - but was fun :))
sinnamin challenged me to make an image to go with her story (which, by the way, if you haven't read and hearted yet - it is resourced below...i strongly recommend it! :))
i tried to get a shot i thought could work...i hope this does!
my blood ran through his veins. as his did run through mine. there was no dividing the tie that held our souls together. the binding force of our bodies, linked by genetic dupl...
this was a photo i took a little while ago ago. i recently passed it on with the advice marcelle had gotten to a friend...and i thought i would post it here as well.
i added it to the bad advice collab even though it is not really a bad advive remix per se, i thought it was worth adding anyway.
little sally anne marie
sings gentle little melodies
sitting in her mason jar
singing tunes made up of stars
little sally anne marie
loves her melodic harmonies
so sad a sight she might first seem
but she spins songs out of her dreams
she sits alone in echoes of glass
where her songs inside are trapped
to spin around her endlessly
she really is a sight to see
four little feet tucked under her chin
her music with a gentle spin
floating around inside her jar
made up of shining, glowing stars.
amber challenged me to write a story for her monster collab (picking a monster and naming it if it didn't have a name already). i picked this one and named her sally anne marie :)
her voice took me by surprise.
“not much” i replied, my gaze still fixed on the horizon.
“nice sunset” she com...
both the poem by xanlee and the image by ekaterina were so heartbreaking yet peaceful and beautiful at the same time. i wanted to mix them together :)
i loved emma connor's half and half and had earlier remixed it as part of another image remix which i then unfortunately had to delete as one of the other images i had used from the site turned out to have been copyrighted. (please be careful what you upload here!)
but i think there is a lot of remixability in her shot and i loved it with some color added, so i am uploading just this portion remixed now.
i've wanted to do something with krrr's the ballet remix of jcpeterson's awesome beat since the first time i heard it - that thing is increadible!!
i got my hands on avid for a few hours and threw this together as a rough piece.
i love this bumper by lydiasaskia
i wanted to play around with it a little bit - added some visual effects to make it look like an old film and added some audio effects of a projector and record scratches.
i hope its useful!
i loved this original RECord by devine.debris and wanted to bring out the richness i saw in it.
i think it needs a story...but also could be useful for further image remixes?
i love this shot of theserpentthecharmer (and i think it totally does look like ryan patrick and no, i do not think all men with glasses and beards look the same...) - i wanted to mix the shot up a bit.
i played with the coloring and the contrast, shadows and highlights. also pixelated it a little bit. (and cropped it obviously :))
i really like this shot by arashcivic. and yesterday when therocketroad's "heart beat strong" came on my itunes i thought that the lyrics could be really cool laid over the image.
i love this drawing by m-iris - wanted to add to it :)
i took off the wedding rings to go better with the concept. and changed the background out as unfortunately it was the background from the movie poster.
another shot i love by devine/debris...wanted to mix it up a bit and seemed the perfect place for these lines of text by theserpentthecharmer...
uploading just the image remix for any use it might be in further remixes
(have to say again - awesome shot by devine.debris!)
i love this shot by arashcivic - lots of remixability both as a photo, texture and background...
nevermind that i am insanely jealous he is in italy right now... ;)
the broken necklace sliped through my fingers.
i had worn it every day, taking it off only to bathe – hopeing that the frailty would hold until we were together.
(taking a break from all my departures footage :))
i love "the fall" by maoooz - the girl in the water looks like a dream...i had to play with the image a bit :)
there were a lot of directions it could have gone in - there is a LOT of remixability in that original photograph.
i hope this captures the dream i wanted to portray in the image i saw :)
loved this shot - saw it a while ago and meant to upload this as a background for whatever it might be used for...
ps jsonclite is an AMAZING photographer - check out his stuff! :)
i love this shot by devine.debris.
it made me think of suddenardor's "will of man" which i think is embodied in haus_of_glitch's "falling into silence" and brujasur's tank top which mixed the idea with an image.
for me - it's not just that the man in this shot looks like he is yelling - it's that he is impassioned. with music, with life, with emotion.
because it is true - silence will accomplish nothing.
that was how i felt.
the dark hollowing sinking weight that settled itself in my chest and worked its way through my system, holding down my limbs, preventing ...
i love the girl with the long hair by urbanation - i wanted to color her in, but didn't have a way to print her and not have the ink run with the paint...so - sketched her out and colored her in with watercolors :)
not exactly the same - but hopefully useful :)
my watercolors seem to be taking over :)
i love this image by sbo, so i tried sketching it out and painting it :)
unfortunataely my mental math was off and i misestimaited on the lines and ran into the rings of my sketch pad... so i couldn't scan it, but i took a photo, if that works for remixing?
here i am.
i walk among you.
i look like you.
so much so that you’d never even know i was different…
but some of you see it.
i love how poignant so much of cinematic.audiophile's writing is. this line grabbed me and i remembered i had this photo of him so put them together... (check the REsources :))
not sure how it can be used but putting it out there for what use it might be...
ok i cant figure out how to add this to the challenge collab! :(
but - hunter - i hope this works for you!
"best and worst of both worlds" photographically illustraited...!
