i believe that art is simply a quality of communication.
that true art communicates at the highest level, making ideas and concepts so vivid that you don't just hear or see words - you experience them.
i feel that these RECords are not only amazing works of art, but that the messages they communicate could quite possibly create changes in the world, if enough people saw them, just maybe.
i got this idea from watching sabine's "‘like everyone else’ (v2)" - i was so struck, i found myself wondering how i could possibly help "play it forward" so that eventually, hopefully, everyone could see it. i thought this might be a good way to start.
for some RECords, i just put the initial RECording (such as metaphorest's "man with a turnip for a head" - which we all know inspired a whole world of fred). so, i also pass along a note to check out the results of these as some sparked whole worlds of creation.
to the artists who created these - i know some are still in progress and some are rough around the edges - but they still communicate. and as i see it, that is the whole point of why we are here.
besides, what better place to put a piece of art which could only be improved with contribution than hitRECord? :)
i figure it's worth a try.
still not quite happy with it but it's getting there... working on the timing and quality of the audio.

a sort of stream of consciousness-y thing ive been writing lately. i saw this timelapse vid today by bluebudgie and was really inspired to experiment with it. i understand how this might be seen as political or preachy or offensive.. but i honestly dont mean to be any of those things. it is directed at me more than anyone else. there's a lot of literary reference nod's in the text.
sub-point: the track is an instrumental version of everything is on fire

The rhyming creation myth by wirrow and Metaphorest. I tweaked the words just a little, and my draft of the text is resourced below. And here I recorded a reading of it. There's already been lots of great readings of this poem, and I hope there are more to come. I think it might be cool to mix a grand multitude of voices together to tell this story.
The next thing that probably ought to happen is for visual artists to start drawing specific parts. Pick a stanza you like, or even just one line and turn it into any sort of image. Maybe pretty soon we could have a bit of a storybook slideshow going, which is usually an important step in big animation projects.
