Here are the RECords that touched me the most this past month...
-V
Everyone's so dizzy!
Added some claps, whistles, few harmonies...
For my friend.
recorded this on my ipad while my husband was in the other room trying to get our crying baby boy to sleep. he learned how to climb out of his crib last week and pretty much hasn't slept since. i'll record a better version if we ever get past this and i get to play the piano again :/ EDIT- I think I agree with everyone else and like the raw sound & background noises, but if someone wants me to re-record this so the timing isn't off (for easier remixing) and maybe a little less pitchiness with my voice, just ask me :)
It's rough, but I think it has potential. ;) Feedback, requests, et cetera always welcomed.
Music: Caseypletcher Lyrics/Vocals: Ashes2Ashes
Lyrics:
Like autumn leaves I'm falling
Tumbling to the ground for you
Lost a hold of where I've once been
Captured by a gust of you
Swept away by you
Made to dance in your breeze
Left to flutter aimlessly
Like autumn leaves I'm falling
I'm falling for you
Helplessly I'm falling
I'm pulled away by you
Like autumn leaves I'm falling
I'm falling
I'm falling
I'm falling
Little song I wrote and RECorded this morning-after-xmas. It's a genuine question, I still don't know...
I realize that this is not much of a blob and stuff like hoped, but I got this idea and couldn't get it out of my head, so I drew it. :P You might see some really shaky lines, because I came back from a game of badminton and went to draw this immediately afterward. I'm such a weakling that my hand trembled.
"this embrace invokes a balance
the two stories have come one."

it started with ellieyah's water picture & shortly after I saw TaraMarie's photo. I found the face very haunting & a story started to build in my head.
There's something I find very alluring about small town tragedies (I know that may sound weird..) It's probably rather that I love small towns altogether, little southern places that haven't progressed much since 1960... there's an air of mystery about them.

"Where does it go?" she asked, eyeing the bridge carefully. The wind brushed past her, whispering "does it matter?"

This song of Ryan Patrick's is funny and sad at the same time! I had to do a rendition. haha. Merry Christmas!
I kind of really do love this song, so I thought of doing something for it. I'm not very competent with video editing and whatnot, so this is what I have for now.
It's not the full song, so feel free to add on it and expand and stuff like that.
Cheers.

Lyrics by Vedder
Arranged by Tory Elena
ghosts of you are
singing softly
through the walls and
under floorboards.
goodnight sweet princes and princesses,
may flights of angels with umbrellas shield your sacred heads from rain
as you flow sweetly on your way.
our lives will never be the same..

A little ditty I recorded a while ago but never uploaded. I wanted to create an odd but beautiful harmony and this is what I came up with. 10 tracks of voices, 2 shaker tracks and 2 tracks of drumming (the back of a guitar). Enjoy!
This should ring some definite bells!
Okay, so I know...It's a dangerous thing to come up with your own Christmas song....but I just wanted to. I love Christmas, and I hope you like it! *Still needs tons of work. And, if you like, you can add whatever you want! (especially harmonies!!) I kinda thought it would be cute if a guy sang the 2nd verse and I would harmonize the chorus with them or vice versa...maybe not, just an idea. I'd be happy with whatever!! Merry Christmas!
For guitar chords: I believe it's standard tuning, no capo (possibly capo 1?) D, D Variation, G Chorus: D, B7 variation, G, D, B7 Variation, D
Lyrics:
Christmas time is here
The smell of snow is near
Celebrate cause it's Christmas
Christmas time is here
Hold your loved ones dear
Hold them close don't let them go
Chorus:
So grab your loved ones and hold them tight
For the wonders of a Christmas night
It's the magic in the air
Through the cold we bare
Christmas time is here
Feel the joy an cheer
Celebrate cause it's Christmas
Christmas time is here
Smell the snow it's near
Hold it close don't let it go
Chorus
Love, Katie

Please listen LOUDish and preferably with headphones. first pass @ this. i haven't done much with it except lay the separate audio tracks down and move them around a bit. i messed with the audio levels and balance slightly, but not with too much thought. i left the background music that pam had included in on her audio & you can hear the piano creep in at several moments. i actually like the effect in most instances (especially when the harmonica makes a guest appearance), but i think i need a little more depth in the various sounds so that it blends a bit more? i'm also thinking the ending could use something. maybe i just add in a ton of whisper tracks and fade out gradually? let me know if anyone has ideas or suggestions. i should mention that i am not a "music mixer" or composer (to be honest, i think i just about crashed my freeware audacity will all these tracks) but i am experimenting avant garde style and i am inspired to teach myself new ways of creating. i like the idea that you can't always hear the words clearly, but that your brain is picking them up regardless. <3
Hi there Mr. Vedder
Guess what? I am your secret santa! To be honest I wasn't really familiar with your work. So thanks to the secret santa collab I was able to discover your wonderful writings. In case you didn't notice...I wrote some of your tiny stories in the christmas balls. I hope you have a very merry christmas and I wish you a fantastic 2012!

To: crane_crafter From: your secret santa :D
I was thrilled when Kat told me I had crane_crafter's name for Secret Santa, I was immediately inspired by all of her beautiful paper cranes that she makes, and she's such a lovely person too. I hope this little song reaches you in Scotland and makes you smile! Happy holidays!
I also left plenty of room for remixing if anyone would like to add some more instruments or harmonies! or maybe an animation or stop motion film??
Lyrics:
I write you a letter on a paper crane
And then I watch it fly away
Across the country, over the sea
A little gift to you from me
I sing you a song to a mockingbird
and watch it fly across the world
I really hope he gets there soon
to sing to you this tiny tune
Do do do doo...

Lyrics
I know
I don’t want to leave this body
I’ve grown quite close
To this shell I call my home
Before I was born
Where was I
Was I nothing?
And when I die again?
Will I be born again?
I’m unsure
Of everything of nothing
I am pure confusion
A fusion of cells
That I call myself
Am I all myself?
Or are there parts of other things in me and parts of me in other things?
I think there are.
Like stars and dirt
Why does it hurt so much?
Hours in photoshop: Would rather not know Number of espressos: Approaching triple digits Dress sense while drawing: Hipster scrooge It's pretty regular in the comics (and film) industry to start with a script and work towards a visual realisation of that script. However, sometimes it's interesting to work backwards. I was wondering what it would be like to start with the image and work toward the story. With that in mind, I drew this, leaving the story pretty open. It's be awesome if any of the more writerly of hitrecord would be interested in penning a (pretty short) science fiction story to go along with this illustration. If not, as always, do whatever you please with it. Enjoy! SnickerSnack

For some reason, the other one came up as a static piece, so I'm uploading a smaller one to see if it'll work now.
Ehm. Seems like the GIF isn't playing on the site, so maybe you guys can download it to view it. Sorry about that! Alternatively, here's a link: Tempestuous
I'd been chewing over various Occupy Wall Street video ideas for a while in my head, but around the time Joe posted his footage and started the collab I'd settled on the idea of putting the modern visuals with old audio. Initially I was going to do a mashup of great speakers, but I ended up not liking that a) they were all old white dudes and b) it made the whole thing feel very disjointed. Eventually I settled on the LBJ Great Society Speech that he gave at the University of Michigan commencement in 1964. (It's public domain even though the site says it might not be - I called the LBJ Library to check, because I'm that paranoid. As the very nice Texan librarians told me, "all presidential speeches should be in the public domain, so y'all should be okay using them".)This is partially because it's a great, relevant speech, and partially because I really enjoyed telling everyone who wanted a description of what I was working on that I was "basically going to Lydon B. the crap out of their Johnson".
Har, har, I'm hilarious.
Anyway, as always, everything's a work in progress, leave comments and suggestions, blah blah blah, et cetera.
(Note: Archive.org has a great selection of footage from OWS, and I used quite a bit of it. If you're curious, check the resources, I'll be putting a text record with a list of all the videos I used and links to them.)
First of all, a confession: I haven’t watched any of the OWS remixes. My apologies to RyanPatrick, Redheadedmonster and others who have done, what I imagine to be, great remixes so far. I haven’t watched them because, while I think that seeing other remixes can be a great way to take what others have done and be inspired by them, I felt very strongly, in this case especially, that I needed to find my own voice within all of this footage. I wanted to find out what I thought.
This was very much a labour of love for me. One of the things that makes this subject and all of this amazing footage so difficult to remix is that you can’t skim through it. There’s no hunting-and-pecking for the shots that you want. You have to watch. And listen.
Another thing that makes it difficult in this case is that the footage belongs to someone else. It would have been entirely different if I had been the one there filming it; I’d have my memory to fall back on and say, ‘Oh yeah, I remember that someone said something that might be useful here…’. Instead, it’s more of a ‘shared’ memory. In order for me to have a memory of it, I had to relive it.
My goal with this video was to start out slowly and let it build and build until it nearly overheats. Wirrow’s music is absolutely perfect for this; that boy does know how to build up suspense and tension and excitement in his music. However, because I think that the voice overs and descriptions are important, I want to save anyone the trouble of having to recreate it, so I’m going to upload a version without Wirrow’s beautiful music in the background.
Anyway, I’ve rambled enough. Thanks for reading (and watching).

"SootyPaws is just the cat next door and he's in love" -
A perverse new character i've created, who'll soon have some new friends hehe! Hope you enjoy - the humour is dark and weird (so if your easily offended avoid) It imagines life - unapolagetically through the eyes of a cat.
For remixing and collab, id love if folks wanted to have a go making a short 15 second theme song for SootyPaws, that i could use as an intro and outtro!
Inspired by my sister's dream of making her own zombie movie, I made this little piece of music of how I envisioned the survivors surveying the ruins before them.
Alpal is in there... somewhere... hehe.
Have fun with it.

Pasiv made a beautiful piece of music called 'On the Mathematics of Life' and asked me to write a poem for it. So I did, and reluctantly read it too! :) Then Pasiv mixed it all together and Lawrie Brewster used a ton of records to make a sweet, trippy video. Hope you all like the result of our collaborations!
Will add resources now!!
