The Brothers Grimm's LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD Adapted for RECording by RegularJOE SCENE 1: (TITLE CARD) GRANDMOTHER PUTS 'RIDING HOOD' ON LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD |
|
|
Metaphorest beautiful poem put to music. The guitar, vocals, cello and shaker were done by myself and the other shaker and the drum was done by my brother Dougie Mackie aka Fameless. Producer: Dougie Mackie Recorded through a radio Mic I couldnt find a shaker around the house so I made one out of a medicine bottle, cocoa pops and sugar. The drum was a big cardboard tub with a plastic lid. haha. Seems really odd. If anyone wants to put a harmony on top you are more than welcome!
ghosts of you are
singing softly
through the walls and
under floorboards.
goodnight sweet princes and princesses,
may flights of angels with umbrellas shield your sacred heads from rain
as you flow sweetly on your way.
our lives will never be the same..
My mom got this weird lotus flower candle for on top of my birthday cake. I recorded it because I honestly had no idea what to expect!
Et voilà mes chéris...A compostion of mine: piano, pizzicato strings and ukulele. I asked Mademoiselle Lula to help me with the title and she did, but as I was RE_working on it, I thought of her so I added the ukulele and picked a title with her name in it. Hope you guys will like it ^_^. Again by heart <3
I am going to have a daughter this summer and this afternoon I got my first real glimpse at her. It was an experience of immeasurable beauty and joy.
While it is one thing to see the whole body in its entirety, it was particularly amazing to watch the heart beat. The ultrasound camera is creates so many visual perspectives and sometimes you are viewing the exterior of the baby, and other times you are suddenly within the body, viewing the organs and the muscles.
I'll never forget one particular moment where the heart was the main focus on the screen. It's beating at around 142 bps and it looks so tiny, and yet it's so prominent. But what really struck me was the baby's whole body seemed to just be a glowing outline. In that series of moments it became clear to me that our bodies truly are just physical vessels.
<3
Oh, and I absolutely loved what the technician said to us about her job and how much she loves doing it. I just had to use that audio byte to open the video.
Here's a little sample of a song I've been fooling around with. It's called "Bright Side". It's a simple guitar part but I feel it's uplifting and positive, kind of like a nice spring day with a little breeze.

Anyone have a short film or anime for this song? http://www.brianbarbermusic.com
this is a song a song a song i made :D
I love the new words that Rochelle Boucher added to her Tiny Story! Sadly, my sweet little 3-year old daughter will need lots of practice before she can remember the words and sing along to this longer version, but she knows the 1st verse by heart now, she's even better than me! I'd still love to see a tiny film or animation come from this song or the tiny tune version if anyone feels up to it!
That awkward moment when you realize you can't run away from your problems
yeah so THIS happened today...
release info:
since the first listen i had this "philip glass" idea running through my mind. the track should sound as "far away" as possible yet retain its structure and drama. megan brought it again with her meticulous midi file. needed only to turn on the magic box (massive - keep in mind i am STILL using that bassline from weeks before as my all purpose sound) and sparks kept flying out. so all credit goes to megan for her amazing play. i only had the good fortune to add a few fx to her composition.
tech info:
original artist: megan carnes aka "megalord of the hitrecords" (http://hitrecord.org/users/megancarnes)
year: 2011
tempo: 80 bpm
time: 6 hours (found a new feature in fl that should have saved me a lot of time yet introduced unforseeable sync problems. growing pains. in the future this should go faster)
New, basic, no frills audio track, to use for whatever, or just to listen. Or whatever. (lyrics below)
Lula, thanks for asking for a lullaby. That's what started all this nonsense. :)
(C)wouldnt it be fun to stay (G) awake?
(C) think of all the fun that we can (G7) make or do
(G7 with open A string) di doo, (G7) di doo
Wouldn't it be great to stay awake?
Lots of loney hearts for us to break, or woo
di doo, di doo
(C)Let's stay up
(G)And see the sun up
(Aminor)And then run down (G) stairs for breakfast.
(C)Let's stay out
(G)Let's make out
(A)cause i've wanted you more than ever before...
(G)oh boy!
Wouldn't it be sweet to stay awake?
Think of all the chances we could take, for two
di doo, di doo
Let's stay up
And see the sun up
Then go to bed in the morning
Let's go dancin'
Romancin'
But be back before dawn cause I'm starting to yawn
cause I'm...oh no!
Sure it would be nice to stay awake
But it might be better if we lose
our shoes
our shirts
our pants
and snooooze.
Why have I been on a song about dying in a life love's arms these last few days as I turn thirty? I honestly don't know. Wrote the words a couple nights ago. Thinking of a sort of drunk sing-along. Metaphorest and Lizziemackie just recorded a beautifully sweet version of it earlier today. Here's what I whipped up on Garageband this wee pre-dawn. Far from finished, we'll see how this one pours out... If you really wanna do something for my birthday, maybe sing along to this? :O?
When I was done writing these words, (finished it on my birthday) it seemed to me like a sort of tavern sing-along. So here's the bottom layer. Now I'd love to hear what y'all add to it.
Sing along with the chorus! Or sing along with any part of it you see fit. Play along on another guitar. Acoustic, electric, the chords are just the same old ones: G C D and Em. It definitely needs bass for at least part of it. Perhaps a drum set, although I think even more fitting would be less formal percussion. Clink bottles together, stamp your feet, knock on wood, etc. And who knows what else? Piano, fiddle, Moogs, shit, the more the merrier.
When you upload your new layer, make sure you release it as an isolated stem (in other words, by itself without any other records mixed in), so we can remix it together with all the others. Here I've released a full version as a WAV file for listening, and also uploaded a ZIP file with stems and ProTools files. So, if you want us to listen to your addition in combination with all the others, you can upload that version, just make sure to also upload the isolated stem(s), either as audio files or a ZIP file.
Also, when I first wrote this and released the lyrics, and then a GarageBand recording of it, I was happy to see that quite a few hitRECorders recorded various versions of their own. LizzieMackie and Metaphorest made a beautiful one, as did TongueCutSparrow and others too. So here I hope to start a definitive bottom layer for the purposes of mass sing-along, but that doesn't mean those other excellent versions will be forgotten :o)
A very lo-fi nostalgic piece, filmed, by filming the TV playing the filming done on a camera too old to convert footage onto the computer directly
When i first heard amferraro’s garden, i was watching this, and i thought this kind of stopmotion was perfectly matching with the rythm of that song, and with the story we could imagine to go with. So i really wanted to make one and picked up in my more or less old pictures, trying to create my own travel, and recreate movements with pictures that were never meant to be used for this kind of thing (except a very few ones). That explains the square format which is not a choice, but a compromise, so that i could use landscapes and portraits. This said, this is my very first time doing this, and if it wasn’t for hitrecord, i would never have done this kind of stuff.
Thanks for watching !
Got this off my dad when I was home for Xmas. A few years back he converted all our Super8 films into digital videos.
So yes, I used to have a mohawk and yes, I used to look a little like a sea monkey. And my brother is just absolutely adorable!!
For via's collab. Maybe someone can use this as a resource, hopefully!

People make films out of the stories that already exist. Let´s try the other way around. Help me make this footage in to a story.
Some of the footage is not of the best quality and some of the scenes are rely long, but I wanted to let you se the hole story and to give you as much freedom as possible to edit the footage to your own liking. I hope that someone will be inspired to do something cool out of this. For starters, the film desperately needs a soundtrack.
Naturally, you can pick it apart completely and use some smaller part you need for yore own stuff. Fore example there is footage of a snowcowerd park, a door that opens and a crowded street in Sweden.
Excuse the horrible spelling. I don´t usually write in englisch and I´m dyslectic.
The Grove is the one area at the Toowong Cemetery where the Homeless of Brisbane fear to venture into at night to find somewhere warm to sleep.
Sometimes at night:
People have seen Red glowing eyes Animals are afraid to go into the grove
There is also the tale of a Vampire Girl from about 100 years ago.
My biggest fear while walking through the grove... Spiders, I spent the majority of my time while walking up the hill paths waving my arms in front of me testing for spiders webs.
Also in this area my friend and I had a iOvilus session with someone who we believe was Mr John Toppin.
now you can hear how sloppily done this was!
Short film inspired by the track "In The Midst of Things" by Joash C.

Enjoy! :D

It's that state where you're not quite awake, but not quite asleep.
You drift in and out of consciousness, not quite sure what's real and what's a dream.

I love light leaks on film. All of the footage is from my family 8mm films (again). I had originally intended on doing something with the footage that had light leaks with "Everything is on Fire" (and may still unless someone else wants to tackle it), but then I heard this and it was just so ethereal, I knew I had to use it. wirrow you are freaking amazing! All of the light leaks are part of the film-not done on my computer.
part 2!!!!!!!
There is alot to work with here that I didn't use.
:)
Thanks again for all the love and support!
Once I heard this song, I knew I wanted to do something with it.
The video is clips from my family's 8mm films that I had digitized. I have a lot more footage I'm hoping to use soon. :)
Lights reflecting on the surface of a swimming pool outside our hotel. Thought it could be useful as a resource for something :)

I love how different it is from when I had to write that French paper...
Just a few miscellaneous shots of video. Perhaps someone could use them for something (like establishing shots maybe?)

Well what can I say about Kyle?
I meet him 2 years ago in class. I just thought he was some frat guy in class that would show up late and get by just enough to pass. Well yes Kyle is late sometimes, but he isnt just some "frat guy". He is a very hard working individual with a brilliant mind, that just works on his own hours. Its kind of been a running joke with him but I wanna keep track of how long he spends in bed. Like seriously you always have to wake this kid up, or even if you are to enter his room its an oops moment. "did i wake you? O no your just in bed....."
No No No its not a gay thing and im not imsessed with people sleeping, but seriously this kid take the phrase getting out of bed to a new level.
100% of the time he is home he is on bed. Snugged up with his blanket that he has had for god knows how long now.
This kid is ALWAYS in bed. I mean he could shower and get ready to go out on the town but then back he is go. He will hop in bed, only to get out looking totally fine and still ready to go out right on time.
Ha just NOW as im typing someone walked in and said " o Kyle I see you have moved pretty far."
Fact of the matter is Kyle loves his bed and never wants to leave it.
But like myself he is a young college student trying to make his way about the world and figure out what to do. I dont think he is going about it the wrong way or doing anything wrong, I just wonder what he would do with all the time he would have if he wasnt in bed.
Either way I think it is an intersting photo and needs an explaination to fully understand whats going on. I think it would be even cooler to play around with this photo and get a thought bubble in there haha
I should work on that now.
Any Ideas????
blurry christmas lights AND dancing dust, can it really get any better than this?
i left this footage pretty much unedited (minus the parts of my kids bumping into the camera that i decided to take out). christmas lights are one of my favorite things, blurry ones are even better, and this dust is just magical. it kinda reminds me of snow, which we sadly don't get much of here in mississippi. i hope this inspires someone to make something wintery and beautiful :)
i just added the background music out of boredom. it's called "flurry" and it was my first RECord i ever posted here almost a year ago, i can't believe it's been that long already!
**disclaimer: i mayyy have shaken an old blanket in front of the camera to get extra dusts in a few shots. just didn't want anyone thinking my house is always this dusty. i have way too many dusty video RECords (dusty dance, dusty piano) - maybe it's a sign that i should clean my house.

Spoken Audio: The Young Lovers (archive.org)
Thanks so much for featuring this! I stumbled upon reneg88's page one night and loved all his songs, which are titled "Music for Short Film", and wanted to use one to make a simple and sweet piece. So I pulled my husband into the bedroom when he got home from work that night, and wound up with this.
It is amazing to see all the great results of this clip! If anyone wants any clips in the orginal color format to use in a remix let me know and I can upload them.
i've been working on this for a while, and i've managed to finish about a minute and a half, should i continue? i'm scared that if i do it for the full length that it may get boring, what do y'all think? i could always cut it down to "lab rat instrumental" by mattconley size.....
oh and thank you taramarie especially for your FAB videos that i mashed together...
Lyrics:
Does it stem
your roots from modern ego
Never sober
Frantic always Frantic
Someone's watching
Will it ever really end?
Madness upon Madness
You wake every morning
Breath Scolding
What to do..what to do..
As people draw near
Push further and further
Until you can't see a clearing
Wish I could show you
What I know now..
Wish I could.. If only If only
Question upon question
Doubt upon doubt
What is the point of talking it out?
Ego holds you back
Utter confusion
Sufferance, Delusion
Where do you stem?
Which frame will you lie?
Life lived only to die
I thought you must have been the one..
I thought you must have been the one..
“Only one in a hundred of you will ever make it as a career artist” ~ Tutor
The ‘black hole’ was what we were told to prepare for in a series of art school talks entitled, rather optimistically, as Professional Practice Lectures. A toxic blend of arrogance, minor success and naivety meant that I did not heed the warning and instead, shrugged it off as the bitter cynicism of a failed career artist, forced to teach in a Dundonian institution. A year elapsed and, relatively speaking, I had gained considerable ground in the art world. Promoted to the lower rungs of success, I imagined that my further ascent would be steady and swift as long as I continued to put in as much effort in as I had been doing. A piece in an exhibition at the Talbot Rice gallery in June 2010 was to be my undoing and I found myself suddenly swimming against the current. A new generation of graduates had entered the arena and the sons of bitches were stealing my glory.
I was standing in my parent’s garden one evening while burning the rubbish when I suddenly had an uncontrollable urge to scream. My geographic location kept my reason in check and I eventually came to my senses. A couple of weeks later I was describing this to a friend and we came to the conclusion that it would make a good art project, particularly in the medium of film. Convinced, I meditated upon the idea further.
After writing a treatment I enlisted the help of my brother as cameraman and editor though most of the actual decisions in terms of cinematography and the edit were made by me. For music, I found a guy named Silvio (Nyctalgia) who was making music in his bedroom in Switzerland which seemed to fit perfectly. He was happy to let me use his track ‘Mira...’ as long as he got to see the finished piece. As for equipment and transport, my father lent us the camera and my mother was designated driver. And so it went ahead, shot on location at Clyde Murieshiel National Park and my bedroom.
Though I am playing a version of myself in The Art World: A Tragedy, I think it is important to note that it could be almost any art school graduate. This life, often imagined to be liberating and romantic, can be at times rather more frustrating, lonely and well...crushing. Autonomy my friend is a huge responsibility indeed.
Lost to the doldrums of an unrecognised genius, we follow the story of a struggling artist confronting his frustrations in a desolate place where nobody can hear or see him. You, on the other hand, can.

So, I've been absent for a while!
This is the first couple of scenes of what will hopefully turn into a documentary (that I'm making with Megan Carnes) about the creative process with you guys!
What I need from you:
What we need is for you to replicate the 'idea' (which is the trash deco font at 96 size font http://cargocollective.com/themadeshop/1120354/Trash-Deco-Typeface) and then just colour it and/or draw on it however you want. Then pass the paper from left screen to right screen as if you're handing it off. just make sure you do it sorta slowly so people can see it :) In addition, you can start talking about the creative process for you in the same way. Lots of metaphors and stuff. And or.... you could do something like Arin did for us and film yourself finding the paper: http://hitrecord.org/records/462695
Here is the collab for it http://hitrecord.org/records/462849
TEMP MUSIC BY MAY AND JER!!!! <3
First video of me! For Lizsmalls emotion collab. I'm sure all of us has felt this one time or another. And I just figured out how to use my webcam so you will guys willl being see my face alot more now. =]
I heard a commonality between all these tracks which I stuck with/played with.
(last one didnt work for some reason) i recorded this last night on my little guitar, hope it brings inspiration to someone :)
lyrics: his name is cold and his name is hurt but ill keep on listening
ill keep on listening
and ive got your taste on the tip of my tounge
well it sings me to sleep now, it sings me to sleep
youve got your heart stuck in one single place
go on release it, just go on and release it
silence is golden when secret your holding so dear
is a speck on a calender hanging in fear
with this the masurade ball where your face is a symbol of faults
with that silence so golden and the secret your holdin
is caught
if you could only relese it, to find that you need it to feel
to fly away in the winds of time
Shot on 16mm Bolex. It is surreal, to say the least.

CALLING ALL FILMMAKERS & VIDEO EDITORS!
We want to turn the audio remix "Departures" by TheSerpentTheCharmer into a SHORT FILM that explores the theme of PAST VS. PRESENT.
Your contributions to the Departures Collaboration have been outstanding, and now it's time to refine the records even further so that we are closer to having a completed short film.
==
Here's how you can contribute to this Short Film:
* Cut together footage to represent the beauty and brightness that THE PAST represents in the story while juxtaposing that with cold, isolated, and claustrophobic footage to convey the darker aspect of THE PRESENT.
* Shoot new footage for either The Past or The Present and contribute it to the collab.
* Curate albums of hitRECord or Public Domain footage that represents The Past or The Present and contribute your albums to the collab.
==
Thanks!
FCP by Dr. Gory

TheSerpentTheCharmer, our Text & Image Curator, has a few words regarding Kubi's collaboration "One Scene Photo," which you can contribute to here: http://www.hitrecord.org/records/716953
==
Here's how YOU can contribute to this collaboration:
1) Find a Photo on hitRECord
2) Write a Scene about the Photo
3) Present the Remix any way you want

We had a few inches of fresh sparkly snow yesterday at night it looked like the ground was covered with diamonds. This was in my backyard.
Raw footage. MOV file. No audio. No color correction.
Unfortunately my memory card was almost full, so I couldn't record this in a better resolution...but here it goes!
I took some videos on a rainy day...
