more than 230 post-its used. cleaner logo than v1.the blinking red rec isn't as smooth tho. i'm thinking of doing a couple more of these with different transitions, effects, and audio. feel free to resource/remix!
Without the ".org"
Just wanted to do a portrait of a well known hitRECorder. This is what I came up with. I was experimenting with drawing/animation/post-its and this is the result. It turned out pretty well except for the shakiness (I'm investing in a tripod soon). Anyways, this took 234 post-its and 17 days to create...hopefully you can see the effort. and wirrow? This one's for you.
been working on this for the past few days. this is a favorite tiny story of mine :)
I needed to do something with ppeppina's lovely cover of Nothing Big and this is what I came up with. It's a (post-it, duh) remix of njtam's pencil animation (with some tweaked choreography) starring a noonday and a longray.
AGAIN BY HEART, PEOPLE!
With a character like this, this portrait was bound to happen.
I started thinking about doing this portrait before I even finished the Steve and the Dinosaur post-it film. This character has so much potential that I had to do my little tribute to it. I was just going to do Dalkulla and Wilhelm, but decided to do three different Dalkulla poses in three different colors.
I started planning this during my spring break and finally started it Easter weekend. The drawing took more time than I thought, but it worked out very well in the end.
There are too many post-its to count.
This was my first ever post-it project.
This is also my most extensive post-it project.
Backstory
In my Power and Representation class, my roommate and I had to do a final project using a lesson we learned in class and interpret it anyway we wanted to. One of the lessons we learned was appropriation. (For those who don't know, appropriation is when you take a well-known object and give a new twist on it.)
So my roommate decided to make a project that exemplifies appropriation. Our object of choice? Post-its. We decided on Bruno Mars' song Somewhere in Brooklyn to narrate our video (thus the video's title). Since this is hitRECord and nothing should be copyrighted, I have deleted the song that goes with the video. However you will notice spots in the video where "Somewhere in Brooklyn" (the title) flashes. I don't know if I should edit that out, but please let me know if that violates copyright.
Story
The story of video is boy meets girl in subway station. Girl gives boy her number. Boy loses girl's number. All he knows is that she got on the subway leading to Brooklyn. Boy looks for girl. Will he ever find her?
Notes
- here's the link to the one WITH audio: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fliAmITBoQY
- 212 is the little name that my roommate and I decided to name our little partnership.
- This was my roommate's first post-it project too. It's safe to say that we didn't know what the hell we got ourselves into.
- It took a week to do this. We had to finish it before thanksgiving break so while she was doing homework, I would work on the video and vice versa. There were a lot of late nights.
- This was all shot using the iPad 2 (and no tripod, obviously).
- You are welcome to remix it using original music. If the "Somewhere in Brooklyn" slides are too much, I can edit that out.
-If any of this video violates copyright, please let me know. I don't want to get in trouble.
*AHEM*
Apologies for the technical difficulties. But FINALLY, this video has decided to encode and load and blahblahblah.
You may (or maybe not) have noticed that I haven't really hit record in a few days. Three weeks to be exact. It's because I noticed my record count was at 99 and knew that my 100th should be special.
Without further ado, I present my 100th RECord for hitRECord! This post-it intro has NO drawing, NO extreme cutting/curves, and NO blue tape. This intro is puuuuuuuure post-it with its original stickiness.
This took a couple of weekends to make, but it was worth it.
This intro is longer than my other ones so I invite video editors to chop it up and shorten it and such. Enjoy!!
Again by heart <3
sorry if it jumps too much. i didn't have my tripod with me "/
needs a voiceover...?
this is how i do it...(this is how we do it, it's friday night)
note: Nagrerecord ka ba? = Are we recording? in Tagalog
3 days.
15 colors.
285 post-its used.
There's a lot of detail that you can't really see in this photo like the dots on the tentacle to the ripples in the puddle to the green buttons on her raincoat. Make sure you check out the video that accompanies this photo that shows those details! (resourced below)
Mom: Why don't you animate your post-its anymore? You're just gonna leave it on the wall? How boring.
Me: ... Fine. Challenge accepted.
4 colors.
7 days.
A whole lot of cutting and snipping and drawing and coloring and taping and glue stick-ing.
I don't know how many post-its I used.

I can't find the image I used for the orb. It's the "a new hevn" title page from RECollection. Just know that it was drawn by wirrow.

"making of" video is up. It's in the results section.

The image for the orb is from the "a new hevn" title page in RECollection. I can't seem to find it on the site though therefore I can't resource it, but all you need to know is that it's done by wirrow :)
a tiny post-it project our tiny book.
I would have done it in blue with the red accents, but I have too many yellow post-its.
This one was done on my closet door because the usual post-it wall was occupied.
My lettering is kinda messy and I drew the boats in the wrong places, but WHATEVER. This was just me trying to get back in the post-it game.
Is the cover a RECord on the site? I can't seem to find it...
This is just a super simple video with some photos here and some stop motion there. Add in the music et voilà.
