Rather less strident than Todd's reading.

An attempt to begin a discussion about the direction of HitRECord and see some common complaints addressed. In which I am revealed to be inarticulate and easily distracted without a script. Also my cadence is wack. And my voice goes odd at times.

At about 5:15 I mean specifically a piece of text from our users. There are some wonderful poems and prose on the site that never see light of day because "reading" is "boring" or something.

Inevitably, I did not manage to cover everything I wanted to. Apologies for the roughness of recording, I lack patience as an audio editor.

And in case it isn't clear, I am nothing but grateful to HitRECord for the last 2 years I've been here. The opportunity to have work seen on such a large scale just doesn't happen normally, and I appreciate and respect the work that has gone into making that happen. It's because of this gratitude that I'm so eager to ensure that the company does not stagnate or flounder as we progress into a larger sphere of attention.

An ode to friends.

Because we would do anything for them. And even though they tell us to stay, we follow them through thick and thin.

PS: This RECord was undoubtedly influenced by the fact I just finished watching Third Star.

I re-recorded this song last month sometime now that my piano is in tune, but never posted it because I'm still not totally in love with the way it ended up sounding. Anyway, I would love love LOVE for this song to be remixed or even started over from scratch. I tried to pay more attention to my timing and everything this time so it will be easier for anyone that wants to add to it. If you're interested, let me know and I'll upload the stems. I really want to take this song to a whole other world, more voices, more ambient sounds, more more more! I want the "ooo" section to sound heavenly, so if you have any ideas, please share! I directed/animated this music video with a few friends.  We like to call it a low-fi, arts and crafts, stop-motion history of the world.

The song is called Thick as Thieves, by the band Kalle Mattson.

So, this is what happens when you read the entire Syd Mead Blade Runner sketchbook after a long conversation about absinthe. I was originally going to call it 'Do Art Nouveau Androids Dream of Green Dragons?' Ugh. But as always, do with it what you will. I don't know who the poor bastard sitting in the rain is, but he looks cold, sick and tired. I think he's waiting for a phone call.

I also originally tried to make something to do with the red riding hood collab. - this was going to be P.I. Duncan Wolf trying to solve the mystererious murder of Little Red at the Lumberjack Lounge. (Cross-dressing gangster The Grandma did it. He hired local hitman Big Teeth to do the job, but didn't count on the Wolf actually being able to catch the scent.) I wandered off a little.

  So, yeah. I'll upload the pencils of this too, if anyone wants to do their own colour job.  To anyone downloading it, you will realise that yes, I originally tried to upload this as an animated gif. Alas, I am a goof, and messed it up somehow. Hence the tinyness. If you can fix it, wonderful. If not, no worries. We live and learn.
