This is the hitREcord music that we played during pre-show at "Hit RECord on Haloween" at Le Possin Rouge in NYC Octiober 31st 2011.
Short snippet of a creepy tune. An excerpt from a larger song I once wrote about halloween!
Lots of REmixing, layering, scratching, and sampling. Please add more to this.
I'd especially like to see some dialogue samples and additional sound effects to the arrangement. Who's up for it?!
Halloween is my Christmas. It always has been, for as long as I could understand what it was.
When I was a very wee lass, like back in the 70's, I lamented to my Dad that, while there were so many Christmas carols, there were no carols for my favorite holiday: Halloween. So my Dad, singer/songwriter that he was, decided to write and record one for me. Lyrics are by Jimmy and Judy Dee (my parents) and music is by Jimmy Dee. This is just a Halloween carol, and does nothing to showcase the amazing voice and range he had. But, please take this Halloween carol and enjoy it, do with it what you will. While my Dad did get some money from his records back in the 50s, 60s and 70s, (he was a Tin Pan Alley singer,) later on he mostly performed for various charities, and just for the joy he got out of performing and recording. My Dad's songs were meant to be listened to and he would have loved HitRECord. :D I hope someone out there will get a kick out of this adorable ode to Halloween. ^_^
I've been feeling Halloweeny lately... do listen to the original if you haven't heard it yet :)
Imagine a bunch of sideshow freaks performing a waltz for a crowd of sadistic, leering onlookers and you will understand exactly what I was going for when I wrote this. I've always wondered what this would be like with video footage or a photo or art series so if you have any ideas for collabs let me know! :)
And now for something completely different.
I made this little piece for this other project that I'm doing but I liked the way this song turned out so I thought I'd share it and see if anyone else could do anything with it. :)
Escape into your fire.
124 BPM
Last song today ha! Bit of a change of tone for this one - I'm jumping on the hitRECord blues train with thanks to smweed's awesome lyrics. Additions/suggestions welcome!
Maybe I make too many creepy waltzes. But they're so fun!
I'm working on a hip-hop theme to the fictionally insane Vincent McSuperfly, the rambunctious host of hitRECord's "REmix Theatre."
This is v1 of the beat. theboxset's "Buddy" has been heavily REmixed and I made room for several breaks where additional vocal samples will be added (including a "radio station identification" announcement.)
In the meantime, be on the lookout for the two McSuperfly "Haaaaaaa" samples. Those were fun to throw in to the mix.
Lyrics for the next stage of this track are in the works. I'll post what I have so far for verses.
All radio station samples are from www.sounddogs.com
Ok, so I made this track, added the drums, bass, guitars, but that's all i could do. My mind just stopped working. So I figured why not let other awesome hitRECorders do the rest?
So the track is called "The Secret". Its just a title I came up with while listening to it, we'll change it later on once its complete. Its made up of 4 layers.
1) Piano 1
2) Drums
3) Bass
4) Piano 2
Musicians:
Just listen to the track, and add ANYTHING you think suits the music. Guitars, synths, harmonicas, heavy electric guitars, harps, vocals, ANYTHING! Just make sure that when you add the new layer, release it as a RECord mixed with this track, but also as a seperate STEM so it can easily be mixed.
Check the STEMS of this track once they're uploaded. I've also included sheet music for both Piano's, cuz it'll just sound 100 times better if anyone can play them with a REAL piano, as the ones on this track are from a VST.
Writers/Lyricists:
Your lyrics don't need to be on a specific theme, such as "The Secret". Don't keep the title in mind when writing, just write about anything you think suits this type of music, anything you want to write about.
Track details are:
KEY: G Major/ E Minor
Signature: 6/4 at 170BPM
I hope this works out well, really excited how it'll turn out.
I think this track would work well with the logo.
Here is some music I wrote for the Remix Theatre. I'm thinking this could be used for the transiction of introduction to short film.
