while working on a REmix of "the prize," i got this riff in my head. so i put prize on hold and worked on this.
sampled a bit of Lava Tornado and another tasy find from GwenInterrupted's trusty loop collection.
Guitar, Bass, Arrangement ~ meeeee
rather than sit around with it, i'm sharing it in its "rough draft" state. or whatever.
i'd love to get someone doing a nice hip hop flow to it. or something of that nature.
tbc.
this is why i hit RECord.
<3
This RECord can now be heard on the HitRECorderly #3 Vinyl (released Summer 2012) as "Diamond in the Rough"

Hey HITRECORD! Here is version 1 of the collage song that I made with all of your great audio tracks. It's pretty atmospheric with plenty of room for vocals - so VOCALISTS, RAPPERS, SPOKEN WORD ARTISTS, please add your creative skills!
There are about 30 to 40 pieces of audio in here and I will be resourcing them all shortly.
Thank you so much for having me remix your killer tracks and thanks especially to everyone for such great recommendations on which ones to use!
A friend asked for a song to go with a break dancing video. This is what I came up with.
(switches up about 2:00 in)
Little song I wrote and RECorded this morning-after-xmas. It's a genuine question, I still don't know...
I haven't had much time to work on this so there hasn't been many changes. Nothing more than eq tweaking. I got rid of the glitch effect on the drums towards the end that pamagotchi rightly disapproved of. I would like to request of pamagotchi perhaps to rerecord the vocals. Maybe two new versions. Not necesarly completely different versions. I would just like to hear the different inflections that are inherent when working on something and then returning to it later on. If you could do one one day and another someother day. I will upload an instrumental track as well.
When I was done writing these words, (finished it on my birthday) it seemed to me like a sort of tavern sing-along. So here's the bottom layer. Now I'd love to hear what y'all add to it.
Sing along with the chorus! Or sing along with any part of it you see fit. Play along on another guitar. Acoustic, electric, the chords are just the same old ones: G C D and Em. It definitely needs bass for at least part of it. Perhaps a drum set, although I think even more fitting would be less formal percussion. Clink bottles together, stamp your feet, knock on wood, etc. And who knows what else? Piano, fiddle, Moogs, shit, the more the merrier.
When you upload your new layer, make sure you release it as an isolated stem (in other words, by itself without any other records mixed in), so we can remix it together with all the others. Here I've released a full version as an MP3 file for listening, and also uploaded a ZIP file with stems. So, if you want us to listen to your addition in combination with all the others, you can upload that version, just make sure to also upload the isolated stem(s), either as audio files or a ZIP file.
Also, when I first wrote this and released the lyrics, and then a GarageBand recording of it, I was happy to see that quite a few hitRECorders recorded various versions of their own. LizzieMackie and Metaphorest made a beautiful one, as did TongueCutSparrow and others too. So here I hope to start a definitive bottom layer for the purposes of mass sing-along, but that doesn't mean those other excellent versions will be forgotten :o)
Thank You to dancingdirtroads for her charming tiny story Seashell. I included the sweet illustration by annejumps too! : )
sorry for all the bad files for this that are cluttering up the place - just had trouble getting the audios up.
the song is in 6/8 66 bpm starting on 4 of a six tick count in.
I have a file of all the stems here http://hitrecord.org/records/712998
there's a high quality file for the song in my RECords/resources below I will try to get all my links working some just aren't behaving right now ! : )

---------------------------------------
this took nearly a full year after the original bass line & 'Ravens' RECords were released for me to 'crack' the idea for an arrangement that worked.
back in April 2011, i downloaded the audio stems that Albert, Sarah, and Matt uploaded to the site, and after trying some ideas that ended up not going aywhere, decided to put this REmix on hold until I could think of something suitable. Sometimes the best ideas come much later. Sometimes, it's better to put your impulses aside and allow time to pass...
in January 2012, I came up with the idea of looping Matt & Sarah's ending vocal lines which created the proper foundation, along with Albert's bass, for the song to move in a cohesive, structured direction. Everything else, the drums, guitar solo, format, followed suit.
And there you have it.
many thanks to Albert, Matt & Sarah <3

I decided to fuck around with some blues scales and this is what I came up with. Definitely need some remixing on this one. Get on it.
I don't even know if this would even be considered Blues but this song kind of came from this Blues scale in A I was checking out. So that's why I called it a blues riff. Am I rambling?
I really love joe's Nothing Big (who doesn't) so I wanted to make a (silly) cover of it... the lyrics are amazing!
at first I wasn't gonna upload this here, but looks like I did anyway... well, I had fun recording this version anyway! :D I like to make covers that are very different from the original! :P
Enjoy<3
I was listening to TCS's song along with ChaneleyWelly's version and I just loved it so much, couldn't stop listening to it. I wanted to give some additions, but then I decided to remake the song completely. I changed some of the melodies a bit, but basically kept the main pulse of what makes the song what it is.
I made this tune with a western twist!
Recorded many years ago, this was intended to be the basis for a B-52s type song or a surf instrumental. I hope it inspires REmixing! Sorry, no stems or individual tracks, the mp3 is the only surviving record of this analog jam :)
Here's a beat that I remixed together for you guys to work with. Enjoy!
P.S. If I missed resourcing anything here, please let me know!
instrumental production - laid back with some mellow drum machine, synth, bass, and piano sounds.
some people like Dial Up
Another kooky little song I wanted to share for others animations or shorts makers to possibly use. This reminds me of childhood so much because of the goofy silliness of imagination and playing pretend.
Please share your hearts with the resouces!!
Had fun working with DianeFT on this!
This is a song I wrote, performed and recorded for an album I released last September entitled "What Animates You". I am especially interested in a music video collaboration for this song.
Boil 'Em Cabbage is another traditional tune. Just learned it on banjo clawhammer style. Check it out!
I did this a while back and havent had time to go back and work on it aor anything, so have at it! In this track, I've recorded three of the instruments I play: ukulele, five-stringed banjo, and guitar. Lets make something good of this simple track!
My first official Accordion Record! Written 1/11/11

Thank you ex99 for the track! Extened mix please? :)
(Dedicated to that guy at work, at school, at the mall, at the beach, on the road...)
You’re tasty like the ice cream laying on my cone
Sweet like a piece of strawberry bubble gum
Cool as the ice cream man’s tiny tune
Guess that’s why all the girls chase after you
They chase after you
They chase after you
Headphones! Updated guitar stuff. Very roughly mixed, but excited to have in Marie Bee's beautiful violin tracks! Thanks again. Marie, you are incredibly talented.
Needs lyrics/vocals and perhaps... piano?
Here's a little song I wrote using lyrics from Wirrow's "Flickering Lights" and some sounds from the "Car Beat" record. I'll upload the stems in an album if anybody wants to mess around with this.
I'd love to hear somebody add some female vocals on the chorus and maybe also on the line "Love shaped hole."
Can't wait to hear what you guys think and can come up with!
UPDATE 04/16/13:
A couple of people have asked for the lyrics so here they are:
The Christmas lights buried in snow
the blips from science fiction films
from year ago remind me of that love shaped hole
you left months ago
give me all the flickering lights
give me all the flickering lights
the midnight flash of my digital clock
the read light of my coffee pot
from hours ago reminds me of that love shaped hole
you left months ago
give me all the flickering lights
give me all the flickering lights...
Electric Loss as it appears on our vinyl release Move On The Sun for the hitRECorderly #2.
Written and Produced by Ryan Patrick
Vocals and Lyrics by Metaphorest
Mixed and Mastered by JeffPeff
A slow ambient electronic track with a bit of guitar thrown in for good measure.
