I've had this scene in mind for some time,  but I am not sure how to animate the other parts. So if anyone has any ideas,.. that would be cool :) in the meantime, I'll continue working.

This is a reaaalllly rough concept. Pardon the terrible colouring job. I wanted to get this concept out there before refining it too much.

I've been trying to imagine a threat that would unite all the Castes despite their differences - a threat they'd have to come together to fight against. A threat, that no matter how divided they are, they would still choose their own over. And what is the enemy of shadows more than burning, bright light that does not allow a shadow to be cast?

So I've come up with a rough idea for The Lux. I don't know their motivation yet, but I do know that they cast no shadows and the beams from their eyes are so bright that no shadow can face it. They're likely artificially created, seeing as the Shadows worship the rays of the sun. That would go with the Gloams being the lowest as cast by artifical light.

The design was based off of sasquatches with flashlights for eyes. I imagine them as being significantly larger than the shadow beings themselves.

I tried to keep the design very simple and easy to reproduce, since that's the beauty of the original shadow designs. It makes it easy for several artists to work on it and stay consistent since the visual style is not complicated. I welcome variations or expansions on the mythology.

What to do with a failed photograph? Manipulate the hell out of it and call it a background. :D

Nagasaki Circus was my experiment with marionettes. The short film was a collaboration between three street performers.  Me, an animator-turned-street artist, Lee Zimmerman, a self-depricating puppeteer, and Martin Ewen (also known as "Lurk"), a surreal, cynical, stilt-walking mime who dances on air.  This story was an entry in his travel journals.  A real day-in-the-life of a cynical, stilt-walking mime.

kouralilly challenged me to adapt one of her writings into a song...I was really inspired by her "...tiny story" piece, and I adapted the words into French.

This is your fire star, Kouralilly!

At the first shot, I took several pictures, but it blews a bit, so fire was going everywere and I wasn't able to capture the star shape. The one I use as icon is the best of 42 pictures I took. And I'm not a photograph... so I decided to take a video! And it allows you to see fire movements!

But I was perched at the top of a stool, without any tripod, so the image is moving... Maybe I should try it again and fix my camera if anyone would like to use it in accelerate for remix.

If anybody has new fire challenge for me, I'm ready for it!

A remix of the RE: Love conversation between RegularJOE and Mr. & Mrs. Graceless during the 2011 Fall Formal.

Last year I was asked to make a short for a film festival, and the interesting thing about this particular fest was the film could only be 1 minute long… I ended up only having 2 days to come up with the idea, make it, and send it off.  So I cut together a short using old family footage… with a bit of a dark twist.

Anyway, what intrigued me about this was trying to tell a compelling story within 1 minute - something that could linger in the viewer’s mind. I like that one minute can either feel very long or very short, depending on what the filmmaker chooses to do with it…

I thought this might be interesting to include on Hit Rec cause so many people on here create all sorts of miniature sized stories.

Oh and yeah, that’s me at the start running around with a pair of underpants on my head…

I heard Expoobident's audio RECord (feat. Pamagotchi on vocals) on the recent Regularity, and I felt those tride and true REmixing urges REsurfacing...
I looked up the RECord, and after a having a listen, I felt there were changes, to both the sound and arrangement, that I felt would amplify the immense potential of this RECord.
So, rather than waste precious time figuring out a way to critique the changes in words, I did what I'm much better at, which is to act upon the changes myself.

Ultilizing the audio stems, provided by Expoobident and Pamagotchi, I went to work - REworking the arrangement, slowing the development without giving up the pace, REmixing and REarranging the sounds, all with Pam's magneficent voice carrying it, guiding it home.

So put on your good headphones, turn up your speakers, dance your heart out, and enjoy.

Sartorical Elegance

I have a thing for sci-fi rap, so I remixed Grammer's acapella from "Dream Girl" and rearranged his lyrics to go with the remix I did of nalonpatrick's "burrow" instrumental.

When I finished colouring these, I looked at it and thought that it could be brain waves, like each color were a thinking in our mind. What a mess! But, anyway, maybe  useful for some background.

In response to Marke's request, here is a pattern that could possibly be used on the back of the paper doll cutouts. I set it up so that it could be made seamless without too much difficulty (by someone a little better at photoshop than me!) I messed with editing it a little bit, but than it started looking kind of hokey, so I thought I would just post the original instead.

When I saw this short by VincentMarshall this afternoon, I knew I had to try my hand at giving it an edit. The music is by Madrond101 and it lined up fairly well with the video, but I'm open to suggestions on that and anything else!

Perhaps it was the grueling hours of play or the fact that his mother had recently purchased him a pet duck. Whatever it was, Timmy never could have guessed that one day the Teddy Bears would revolt.

I was playing around in After Effects and thought I'd chuck in some shadow characters... Normally I would take my time with a character like the Lux and see what else I could add to it, but what I do like about this is the constant blurriness. I added in some heavy vignette blurs which, for me, seems to suit the shadow characters. I like the idea of the shadow world they live in to have a slight haze/blur to it.

If you want, please take this and add some cool dramatic music and sound fx (I imagine the Lux sounds like constant crackling electricity).

And her trusty camera! :) Emma, the hair is reddish brown, but for some reason isn't really showing up in the pic ;)

Oh man, I've been dreaming of this shot for awhile. Went over to my friends to do a little gardening and did a video for her job, and then i set my tripod up and jumped. I'm going to do this again with a higher frame rate and some like fancy floaty clothes or some weird something, something soon.. who knows. ANY IDEAS of things you'd like to see jumping in mid air?  So happy its warm out.

All the talk about feminism and femininity lately and women's rights and what it is to be a woman ... got me thinking. I probably shot 3 different versions of this, and the putting it together was only indicitive of what it was after i shot it. As it is when you shoot/are in something. I did one take with full make up, and then another more masucline coloring. I often have played male roles, almost as many roles as I've played as a female. One side of my face looks more feminine the other half looks more masculine, as i've noticed from getting my picture taken for a job.

I think when we are young women we take on this more masculine role to protect ourselves, when we become mothers we soften, and experience our femininity in true form. I also think that in context with this song, this confusion amoung young women is a balance, it can confuse us and sadden us and leave us feeling all alone, lost in our gender.

The male and female voices in this song, work so beautifully together. I attempted to sing along to the man parts for the masucline version and the main part for the feminine version. thats why the mouth is all over the place.

I feel like its always a balance, with depression and with gender. We always have to figure out our own balance.

When i layed the two over one another, i really liked the dimension it created. So i took the task of key framing every other frame.. it was like.. finger breaking work.  Was thinking of uploading the raw files separated in a zip folder if requested. I'll do it if you ask or If I'm bored one day.

So i guess for now, i'm all about recording myself doing something on camera and cutting it to music and uploading it now.... its'cool. I'm cool with that.  its fun for me, and maybe you can use it.

There are two ways that humans can enter Monster City without being in danger of becoming a meal. They must enter into slavery as a monster's pet, or they must wear a very cleaver monster disguise. Along with the disguise they must rub the juice of the monster berry on their skin to cover up the human scent. Once a human has entered in disguise they must tread very lightly. Most monsters don't trust humans, and the carnivorous monsters pay top dollar for prime cuts of human meat. Pet owners must take great care to protect their human pets from thieves.

Whenever I write music, I think of the notes I'm writing as planets. So I decided to expand on that idea tonight and drew this. :-D

I am suffering from a suffocating lack of artistic inspiration these days, hahaha, it's not the first time and it will not going to be the last one, anyway, this is coming back very slow but I am getting there, so here you have, another remix for the shadows collab and that will be a part of my Shadows project! :)

When I saw the last 2 records made by sojushots, it kind of remind me to Lea daniel's work, so I decide to make a remix using both hitrecorder's work and 2 other records from Wirrow and belcath! I hope you all like this!!!!

When I first heard this instrumental by tooantuh, this weird little tune (accompanied by these weird little lyrics) popped into my head. I didn't plan to record it at first, but the thing got stuck in my head for 2 months. So I eventually gave up and recorded it. And then I didn't plan to share it. But now it seems that I am. So... yeah.

Thank you Wirrow for introducing me to riceboy sleeps. It completely turned my musical direction around for the time being. This is obviously just practice.

This might be my favorite day on HitRECord ever! It's so inspiring to hear everyone's thoughts on feminism and dissecting the feminist themes in this version of LRRH. 

I really like LilacAmy11's thoughts on LRRH and sexuality. Although this particular telling of the tale focuses more on Little Red's triumph over someone who meant her harm, there is a definite sexual undertone in story. The red hood, the charming wolf, etc. Originally it was a cautionary tale to dissuade young girls from embracing their sexuality.

I like this new tale where the woman is empowered to make her own decisions. If she wants to go frolic with a wolf, so be it. She's the one holding the knife.
