hitRECord creative space, first pass. I think I may want to take out some layers or adjust a bit, but the idea is there.
I used the same technique to make this that I did to create my cut out stars record.
I think there may be potential for an animation here, something with a big bang vibe, maybe. :)
I'll put up the others in a zip along with the master PSD if anyone's interested. probably tomorrow. I don't bother to just post them up right now because they are pretty much the two posted versions but with the "on" added or removed accordingly.
"A tagline and banner/bilboard design idea to go with it. The idea of "Record Watch Repeat" is that it it's a triple pun, playing on a) our company logic and brand, b) advertising language (wash, rinse, repeat), and c) tv terms (record a show, watch a show, a repeat). Couple of variants coming up!"
I really loved this moment in Joe's request video, so I wanted to snip it out and make it it's own standalone video. I think it speaks volumes on the nature of secrets and truth.
;)
animated in photoshop with some revisions in after effects.
1080p 23.98 fps h264 quicktime MOV. No sound yet, and I've really got to switch over to working my thesis film and sending out emails, so probably nothin' else from me today... if I'm doing things right.
getting back to work, and reflecting upon the month of april and beyond, all in a terrible vertical video which I may put into motio graphics later as I can't stand vertical videos.
stuff to expect from me.
resumed rerecs
collab intro videos for my re:math, a game for remixing, and raw resource collabs.
more bumpers and a motiongraphics focus reel of my hitRECord bumpers so far.
just testing this out, if it works, I'll update and fill in everything else. Been suddenly running into a few odd uploading glitches with file formats that normally work for me.
new version of a score demo of out of my Korg iPolysix. Master comp remixable via the ipad app's built in soundcloud functionality. here's a link! http://snd.sc/ZRzPfr
hoping to put some videos together to this one as well, ASAP.
well, back to life at large. fingers crossed. Looks like it bid! the best audio quality, however, would still be the master file comp through the app (link to it on soudncloud: http://snd.sc/ZRzPfr ) . I'm not quite sure how much where this quality render got out, but you get the idea ;)
more to come!
http://snd.sc/ZRzPfr
here it is, with music titles and credits. photo jpeg quictime mov 720p 12fps (too match original animation. created with silk for ipad (www.weavesilk.com) it's called snow form because the shapes remind of snowflakes a lot. I'm also planning on make a version that's more white on black, that will make even more sense. Thanks to iamweirdopotato for mentioning setting it to electronic music.
A QUICK NOTE ON THIS RECORD: Please mention the app, silk, that was used to create this if you use it significantly, they have a very specific creative commons lisence: Art created in it can be used by anyone for any purpose (including commercial) as long as they are credited, like I did in the description. their website is www.weavesilk.com, which features a free desktop version of the app, and the creative commons liscence I described in their about section.
eric tortora pato aka epocadofim here.
as those of you who know know, I dabble across everything from music to video to prose to graphics, but my main focus is always narrative, story, world, and character. so challenge me to tell a story, about anything. If you can sum it up in a sentence, I'll tell a story about it. I can take medium suggestions, though the more complicated the media the longer it may take (prose and graphic novel are fastest, relatively, but I'll take a whack at it if you really want more beyond that, and I'd enjoy some film and animation challenges).
Have at me to make stories.
also feel free to use the title card, grabbed it together from a bumper I'm working on.
More Muted dark color and a bit of line refinement.

Going to toss it into some of the collabs.

A babysitter.
She got into her top choice school, but the mail has been impeded by the apocalypse. That said, and even though she's quite busy protecting the wee ones she's often in charge of, she's still really anxious about it.
I also see her as very likely existing in some variation of the Kids V. Monsters collabs story world.

Joe's announcement about how we gonna be on the TV, a few things at school, and a red thumbtack remined me that I've been meaning to do more motiongraphics, aftereffects, and hitrecord bumpers, so here's one I threw together tonight called smile.
color pushing, animation, tracking and text done in Adobe AfterEffects CS6, camera was my iPhone 5. Render quicktime H264, resolution 1080p.
and, of course, the mouth and the stubble are mine. ;)
Meet Steve, The Boy who wasn't told about the internet, star of the a new 3 to 5 shot tiny animated film I'm working on. It will also have/need narration, so keep an eye out for the script.
animated in photoshop cs 6.

A little bit of dark backstory on how we got to where we are now. ;)

new drawing and tiny story based on my old drawing creative shot, with the same character again. Don't have time to do a color version right now, and as per my pledge, I will not submit this tiny story or the color version of it to TBoTS V3. It will wait for four.
However, it is going to be my poem for the the Poem Every Day Collab today, so there's that.

A short demo theme for my thesis broken_test_zero, inspired by medical sounds and machines. All sounds designed and music made and mixed on my ipad in Korg's iPolysix. I love the heck out of there ios synths. Will also upload the base rhymth, and I can do different bpms, too. This one is 177.5 bpm, by the way, It feels slower because of the double beat. The rhythm was originally designed at 130bpm. I plan on designing more on this.
By the way, if you have the app on your iPad, you can download and remix the master track in program via the iPolysix's native sound cloud functionality.
I think I'll also put the bells up on their own.
enjoy.

Redoing and further remixing the illustration I originally created for my own tiny story "Stupid Reality" with my slightly edited down text to MadisenMusic's "Unimaginable Perspective" (and also inspired by valeob's illustration) . I think this sells it much more. I'll also put up a textless version and a version with the text of my story Stupid Reality later on. Be sure to check out the full size to get all the details if you like it.
Enjoy!

For reasons I don't know, one of my most popular (if not my most popular) records to date, the original digital painting of a kid monster character called Burning (aka Daddy's Little Demon), has apparently disappeared from the hitRECord server. I believe that I was inspired by another record, but for the life of me I can't remember which it was at this point, so sorry for the lack of citation. I also can't remember all/most of my original description (except for the fact that it was meant to be a character going between both camps, ie kids and monsters), nor can I remember the most of the story data and ideas that wirrow noted when he originally featured the painting (save for saying some nice things I still appreciate and an idea along the lines that this might be what the monsters looked like in real life).
I've recently noticed a few other people having to reupload stuff... any idea what exactly is going on with that, anyone? I suppose I'll go the support but it is a touch worrying a trend for records to disappear.
Let's face it, audio is the only way to do this. May edit it upand stick some video and a bit of sound effects behind it later. I intentionally used a lower than perfect quality of compression, for nice scratchy audio feel and reliable uploading ;). Below is a copy of the plan text that I'm about to post:
"Another Tiny Stories idea?! OF COURSE!!! What I Imagine the tiny tape to be is the audio book/radio show version of the tiny book of tiny stories, which would create and illustrate Tiny Stories entirely using audio aural landscapes. It basically falls somewhere in between the Tiny Tune (although music in tiny tape stories would be incidental only) and Tiny Films, except no visuals.
Think NPR, think RadioLAB, think ThisAmericanLife. This would be our version. In fact, the closest thing I'm aware of is an old and excellent episode of this american life called "20 acts in 60 minutes", but this is Tiny Stories we're talking about, so let's up the ante– how does 120 Acts in 60 Minutes sound?
Some parameters I think might help:
-Don't use intelligible dialogue or read text beyond the tiny story text. Walla/Chatter track is okay, though, when appropriate.
-That said, give yourself a little time to build the sound world, I'd say 30 seconds is a good target, maybe up to 45 and down to 15, but I think that's the range.
-If we're ever going to make this an album for release, I think an interstitial narration for at least the titles of the stories, if possible all done by the same reader, maybe calling each an act or a chapter. I think it'd add both continuity and comedy to the format.
What we'll need:
CURATORS:
TINY STORY ALBUMS: Find Tiny Stories particularly suited for sound and/or reading of Tiny Stories already made that are very rich and dramatic.
SOUND ALBUMS: Find and organize audio sound effect libraries. think of things like ambience, foley, footsteps, spaces, fighting, anything, really.
ACTORS and VOCALIST: Readings and incidential vocal sounds (screams, breathing, other orally fabricated Sound FX).
MUSICIANS and SOUND DESIGNERS: SOUNDS! Three major categories:
-MUSIC
-AMBIENCE
-Sound Effects and Foley (DESIGNED SOUND FX)
Get us what we need! It's all about the sound.
EDITORS:
MIXING: Edited sound and mixing for various tiny stories
REMIXED TINY AUDIO STORIES: Original tiny stories created from other hitRECord audio."
PS: to anyone curious, that episode of this american life can be found on their website for free. can't rememebr if u'm allowed to post a link like that here, i think i can, but not sure... anyone know that 100%?
now with a countdown!
