I really liked halfreal's idea from last week of only re-RECing two RECords, so here are my two selections for the week.

Muse - sparksflyup

What really gripped my attention in the very first paragraph were phrases such as, "I spend nights thigh-high in coffee," and "I happen to come up with are ideas about vagina dentata and fecal matter stew." Potent stuff, I think. These phrases also beautifully set up the tone for the rest of the piece: it's kind of disturbing, but also funny and relatable, especially if one is a creator drawn to the macabre. Really fantastic work by sparksflyup.

a touch of red - Elsewyr

High colour contrast is a hard thing to get right with an image, and nine times out of ten it looks pretty awful. Elsewyr succeeds in being one of the few who has utilised it successfully. This image of a field of poppies immediately draws the eye and the picture has a mysterious air about it that feels almost haunted somehow.
