Wanted to take a stab at the request Joe made for editting fall formal live performances with other footage on the site. I changed the "Intimacy" clips to black and white so it matches the "Telefon" clips.
Changes
-More live show angles (just as aimee suggested)
-"Edit to the beat" (just as Dr. Gory advised in his Video Editor tips video)
-Balance between Sia and Telefon/Intimacy clips. The first version didn't have enough Sia in my opinion, so I added more of her singing the song.
-Black and white (just as marcelle suggested)
-Different show bumpers. I wanted to show off the lovely street marquee.
Changes
- new intro that shows Sia being introduced on stage (as Dr. Gory suggested)
- "building momentum" I exchanged one of the later Telefon clips with a fast paced Intimacy clip so as to build momentum with the song (as Dr. Gory suggested)
Tell me what you think.
Changes
-layering with new images
Laughed a lot while editing this piece.
this is how i do it...(this is how we do it, it's friday night)
note: Nagrerecord ka ba? = Are we recording? in Tagalog
Because my mom is an immigrant, I thought she'd be an interesting candidate to interview for Metaphorest's collab RE: Accents!
She's originally from the Philippines so she has a Filipino accent, but because she has lived in the U.S. for thirty years, she has also developed an American one. She has a strange hybrid of the two.
This is raw footage so video editors can have their way with it. I asked her questions from Metaphorest's text RE: Accents and then had some follow up questions of my own. At the end, I asked her to read a Tiny Story in her American accent and her Filipino accent.
Please excuse some giggles from me; I couldn't help it.
This is a very rough edit of the interview I did with my mom.
I definitely want to add more cutaways and maybe more of her answers from the interview. It seems too short for me.
I'll do another edit highlighting different answers from her interview.
Since the Regency doesn't have a large marquee, I just made SF specific bumpers.
This has room for cutaways. I don't know what though. Thoughts?
Me: "Hey Dad, wanna see my edit?"
Dad: "If it's that guy singing Yellow Submarine I don't want to watch it."
Words We're Wailing does sound like that song. REEEEEMIX!
================
Changes
- Used moments from the show as cutaways. The video kinda came out as a recap of the SF show.
=================
I had just as much fun editing this show as I did attending it. Good times :D Thoughts?
P.S. It looks better when downloaded :)
Changes
- edited down to 2 minutes
- made more use of the angles
=======================
I'm not the best video editor, but I love this conversation so I decided to try editing it.
Katie, her best friend (does anyone know her name?), and Joe had a lot to say so I might make an extended cut version.
Feedback? Thoughts? Suggestions?
I kept the whole conversation the way it is for your viewing pleasure. This could be good base for those who want to trim it down to 2 minutes for the Live Theme Edits collab :)
Warning: This is a super short, rough i-dont-know-what kind of edit.
I started this before returning to school, but now I don't have the time nor heart to finish/polish it (my mind's been out of wack these past few days). Hopefully another video editor can pick up where I left off.
Rearrange the clips, only use the bumper, don't use any of it at all...idk.
WunderBoy's Car Ride Beat combined with jehuGarcia's Fall Formal Time Lapses/Behind the Scenes footage.
This is a rough and unfinished first draft, but I wanted to put it up to get your feedback.
Thoughts? Comments?
Changes
- rearranged some clips
- extended the beat juuuust a little bit. I think I'm gonna keep it at this length because as my mom says, "I don't want to watch a video that goes boomboomboom for 1:40. I'll get a headache."
=========
I'm kinda iffy on the clips I chose for the second part (0:27 and beyond). Also regarding the last shot, should it be that Fall Formal sign or the marquee?
Let me know what you think.
Changes
- used different parts of the song
- incorporated pre-show footage
- switched out clips for others
==================================
notes
0:28 - 0:32: should the cuts be faster?
0:33 - 0:38: are the audience shots too repetitive?
0:39 - 0:41: still iffy about using the Joe jump cuts at the end
Thoughts and feedback are welcome :)
Remixed WunderBoy's and OnLy_aMy's videos together. I like the idea of having the record button pop up in the background when the "beep" happens.
This is all I could do on a Wednesday night. I'll try to edit more this weekend.
This has been sitting on my desktop and I only decided to upload this now (because I'm a lazy butt).
The only change is that the record button is more in sync with the "beeps" now.
The following is a conversation I had with my friend Kristina regarding the Tiny Book of Tiny Stories Volume 2.
MJ: Speaking of buying things, do you think we could drive to Barnes & Noble?
Kristina: Uhhh, why? To buy the --
M: Yeah. Because it comes out today --
K: Well you know --
M: If that's too much trouble, we don't have to. I can wait til I go home and just ask my dad to drive me.
K: No, it's not that. But, uh... Remember how I said that I owe you Part 2 of your birthday gift?
M: Yeah...
K: Well it should be coming by the end of this week.
M: You mean you --?
K: Yeah.
M: You pre-ordered it?
K: Yeah.
M: And it's coming?
K: Yeah.
M: OH MY GOD! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
Kristina and I were roommates last year and we've been close ever since. She was even my partner in my first ever post-it project "Somewhere in Brooklyn." Anyways, she's always been encouraging of my involvement with hitRECord. Over the summer, she mailed me my birthday gift and it was a hitRECord tote bag and the Tiny Book of Tiny Stories 2010. Those were the two things I wanted most from the RECord store and I was in shock that she remembered.
Fast forward to yesterday, I asked her how long she planned to get me Volume 2.
"Since the summer. But I saw that it didn't come out yet, so I just waited til pre-order came up."
Bottom line: She's amazing and she filmed me opening up the package. You can hear her laugh while I freak out.
Changes
- new intro and ending with pamagotchi's "Hey...it's Me"
- switched some Telefon and Intimacy clips around
Let me know what you think.
