Lizziemackie's "To This" has been somethng of an inspiration to me as of late. I love how the message of her song has a sort of transcendant quality about the universality of love. The song can be attributed to anyone you have deep compassion for: lover, sibling, parent, child, friend, even the love of a city or idea. At first I wanted to try to encapsulate all of it in the entire 3 minutes and 40 seconds of the video, but then I stumbled upon eaneikciv's videos, and the idea to have the song take on each aspect of the idea of love in its entirety struck. This video is about the most basic and primal of loves, that between parent and child. I searched through the site for as many videos of hitRECorders and their children, and hitRECorders as children, as I could find, and I edited them together with the music. By far the funnest time I've had making a RECord. And then I remembered text I had seen from a few pieces written on love, and I combined words from "...so about love..." and "Understanding Hearts" for the intro to the video. I added a record needle on vynil sound to throughout the song, because I think it lends to the feeling of cracking open those old home movies and reliving those memories. My hope is that every aspect of the message of Lizziemackie's song can be explored through the videos we have, and we can have kind of a collection of "To This" videos. If not, at the very least, I hope this RECord brings a smile to your face. Because it certainly did to mine.
(Sometimes I just love hanging with my 4year old niece Gabrielle. Big thanks to her. Please check out some others in the resource.)
There once was a boy named Skip.
He loved to skip rocks; but he didn't have any friends.
The rocks were(was) his friends.
One day he skipped a rock really far!
He heard a loud noise.
"Ow!!"
"What was that?!" said Skip.
"It was me!!"
"Who?!!"
"My name is Bobby and you hit me with a rock!!"
Bobby was a Sea Turtle and he was mad.
"Why did you hit me?!!"
"I'm sorry Bobby! I just love to skip rocks."
"Skipping rocks? I used to skip rocks when I was a wee Turtle!"
"Really?!!"
"Yes I did!!"
"Will you skip rocks with me?!"
"Well of course!!"
Skip was so happy, he hadn't smiled this big in a long time.
He wasn't just a lonely boy skipping rocks.
He had a real friend; and they skipped rocks every day!
The end!
Goodbye! :)
I LOVE what's already been done with the Dusty Dance tiny story, but I thought I'd still share my take on it :)
EDIT: if this gets used for anything, i just realized that i forgot to mute one of the clips so there's a little bit of background noise for a few seconds (that's what you get for trying to edit video with a baby in your lap!)
Playing with bubbles today and this reminded me of wirrow's "It's like no one even takes bubbles seriously any more." Stella takes bubbles very seriously :)
Maybe someone could use it?
I made my images move! Never done that before : )
I had an unscripted, unedited conversation with my 4yr old niece Gabrielle on this cloudy afternoon. My tire was flat this morning, I wanted to get her take on it. I threw Ryan Patrick's amazing beat over this VO. Enjoy! :]
Ironic how things happen, but this amazing thing JUST happened to me! First I must say that my daughter will forever be my favorite surprise of them all! Hands down, honest to God, B E S T! S U R P R I S E! E V E R! People still tell me that I have that glow about me from how proud I am of her. She amazes me everyday and to have the opportunity to watch her grow is a beautiful gift. She's my sugar dumpling! The SURPRISE! Well, I laid her down for playtime and almost immediately she halfway turned and looked up at me. Her smile beaming and then... PLOP! Over she went onto her back! ROLLED OVER FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME! What a truly amazing thing to witness! Well, like any mother, I bounced around the room screaming, clapping, and beaming with pure joy! She, on the other hand, looked STUNNED! The "holy shit" look was all over her face, and she just stared at me all wide-eyed!
