... it represents an idea in its infancy (like most of my records).
Its far from what I think it could be, which isn't just "Madame X" but a collection of images inspired by some of the poetry in the public domain. There are a lot of really talented writers here on hitRECord, tons of inspiration for records and remixes, but I think it would be super neat to see some interpretations of some of the older (public domain) poetry. thanks.
This RECord was inspired by a line from 'Les Illuminations' by Arthur Rimbaud.
"Don't worry, I'll find you."
This RECord isn't yet what I hope it can become (hmm, like all the rest) but this one has an idea behind it that I think is worth looking at: A star descends (by choice?), and as it is falling through the universe, it is torn apart, separated from it's self. The peices know they'll be drawn together again by like frequency (as in matching energetic vibration, etc.) This can result in nearly any sort of terrestrial relationship, I chose to use lovers ("soulmates"?) because I think "marriage" is a good example of how a single life force, split into two, may be rejoined. thank you.
All across the U.S. children are required to "pledge alligiance" to the American flag. This is that pledge, re-written to be more all inclusive. I dont really think children should have to swear their alligiance to anyone, but I still wanted to try to rewrite the pledge in a way that promotes awareness of a global community rather than separation from one another.
The best thing about this project was discovering a very talented artist that I was previously unaware of. In the spirit of remaining a "secret" santa, I have refrained from "hearting" most of her records, but watch out, a heart attack is on the way. For those of you who haven't seen her work yet, check it out: http://www.hitrecord.org/users/cereus
Happy Christmas/Channukah/Winter/life Cereus! I hope it's magical!!

ps. thanks again, Gaby!
DebraLou challenged me to illustrate "that fire (creation myth song)" by seldelaterre which I had not heard before. I can't say how glad I am that she brought this song/artist into my awareness. Thanks DebraLou! I don't think my illustration is nearly enough. This song needs tons and tons of illustrations! But here is my modest attempt to sum it up in one picture. Thanks again <3
