Here are some records I think might be interesting to incorporate into the "Departures" short film.
Ants cleaning up after a spider feast - not the best footage, but I thought, what if someone somewhere could use this, so here it is.
Shot with my Canon 60D with a basic wide lens AND a set of tube extensions to get really close up to the little fellas.
Have fun.
Trying to capture a butterfly with my Canon 60D and a 50mm 1.4 lens for shallow depth of field - not such a good idea with something that moves so fast.
Feel free to cut and layer and edit to your hearts content. :)
Hey everyone, not sure if I did this correctly because, once again, I am not knowledgable about stems and music and whatnot. So I did my best. Here's the WAV files with a dry vocal run, the filtered vocal run, the nature background noise, and the two filtered musical tracks. Hope I did this right haha
I think the first shot would work the best for "Everything is on fire all the time." Other fire shots might come in handy.
take a ride with me!!! ... just some raw footage of my elevator in my building..
***NOTE*** THIS FOOTAGE IS H.264 if you are going to remix it i would suggest converting it to PRO RES 422 .. it will save you heart ache :)
Remixed TheSerpentTheCharmer's audio stems and added some additional distortion effects and ambience.
DIRECTIONS: Watch closely, very closely. Then, contribute in some way to the film.
Take a closer look...

About the idea: The main character is searching. The area of mathematics is just an extent of conventionality, where we treat the idea, so, what he writes, actually does not make a big sense. For us the board becomes an interactive visual illustration –it’s like a marker of his not measured, anxious soul, that tries to escape to the light. That’s why the film is called "2Dsoul" . The board is like a window into his world. All around him is shouting that the world is magically wonderful, that everything, that surrounds him, is more alive than what he sets in life priorities. (For example, the scene of the erasure and jokes with the letters). But the hero tries to ignore it all, he continues struggling with the things that are, in fact, not so important, he tries to assert himself with his own activities. He did not expect such a discovery. The changing of life values has touched the hero once and forever. He was finally able to see what others do not notice. He just understood and realized that. The comprehension came to him irreversibly. The words on a board (at the beginning of the film) are telling us: those things, that really have power, sense and truth, can’t be said. You can only feel it. You can’t paint a picture of a great artist in the sand.
This is a film test that I did for my collaboratiobn, THE TRICKY UNKNOWN, I figured it was only appropriet to drop "Departure", behind it. Remix and enjoy!

First attempt on shooting and editing in 16mm black and white film...
I had very limited time and bounderies with the assignment when submitted but I think this film can have so much potential to be something more upbeat. I think the sound needs A LOT of work so composers have a little fun with this one! I also think some animators can have a lot to go crazy with in this film. Maybe add thought bubbles or intercut talk cards like old silent films and just add a bunch of fun upbeat colours! I look forward to seeing what anyone can contribute.
