Once I'd read the poem, I thought of doing a video like this. For four months, I've been scrolling through hundreds of pictures across the website and looking through a few of my own. I wanted pictures that seemed natural, unique and seemed like it would have an interesting story beind it. I had strict guidelines in what I wanted, except they didn't apply to every photo. It really amazed me when I looked through the descriptions of many of the photos and where they were taken.
My interpretation of the story is that he and the woman reading the poem have been travelling the world and at first the photographer was really sweet, but then he showed his true, photographer self and put photography before her.
Anyway, I've really enjoyed doing this and I hope you like it...and maybe you could improve it?
UPDATE: I've just finished resourcing, but if I've left any records out, please say. I'm glad the videos gotten so much positive feedback. Thanks.
This is one of those things where I had no idea what I was doing with it, or where it would end up...and this is what it is.
It's a stream of consciousness. Pretty much any time I attempt to free write anything that comes to mind, it ends up in the same direction: My fear of failing in the film world, running out of time, being old etc. I don't know why I always go there.
It reads:
"Always waiting for something
For the next day off
For this job to end
For the next big break
For the next good news
For life to begin
And we forget
That our clocks never stopped
They always kept on ticking
Even if you hated where you were at
Even if you were counting down the days
The trail gets shorter and shorter with each passing moment
Even if you stand still
The clock continues ticking.
Realizations that I’m living in the past
And always talking about the future
While missing right now
All I have is time
Everyone’s graduating college
All I have is time
They’re starting their families
All I have is time
They’re having their children
All I have is time
And my biggest fear is still being here
When the “have” turns to “had”
Time.
Sometimes I feel like I’m running out
But then I remember
That today was going to come either way
And there are no rules to this life
No set itineraries
No promises, or guarantees
This is our time
Spend it how, and in every way
You want.
Because it won’t last for ever.
I will make it in to film."
This one especially is inspired by MattConleys tumblr post:http://mattconley.tumblr.com/post/2568053665/time-is-a-funny-thing-time-is-a-very-peculiar
Although I was inspired by a lot of different things while making this, that quote haunts me. And a new earth was on my iPod on repeat while making this as well. I have the same format as Wirrows video because of it, and because crispyfuller said that the words are relatable, so instead of VO'ing it, I thought it'd be better to read it how you want.
