Hello folks,
In finding this specific musical riff, I envisiged what I believe foxes are up to when they're not scurrying away from supposedly hearty human beings.
Despite the wet darkness and the slightly unwelcome feeling of the gardens, the fox cub catches a glimpse of the feather, drifting steadily a mere few inches above his reach. But a healthy leap will be all that's needed.
He jumps.
It was enough, and for a moment, the cub felt an incomparable softness, and with the softness, an equally strong desire. The feather wildly scattered itself lower, towards the mesmerised fox's face, until landing between his eyes. He closed them and the feeling intensified, but, within seconds, vanished as the feather was once again riding the night's gust. The fox began to sprint across the garden in search for the feather and the feeling. It was dark, but his eyes were fast and sharp, he spots the feather cutting through the dim light of a window lamp. But the cub's hopeful eyes were lost when rain fell fast and an early morning light chased the feather past the trees and into the day.

Great piece by joerud! Could be a good one to use as a soundtrack to a visual piece or remixed to expand on the story.
Would love to see this one go further!
Love Sel's voice. Love Metaphorest's lyrics. Love alpal's music.
"i love the process of remixes this has gone through. this sounds sweet and lovely. i still think more could be added to it for some fullness.. i can sort of hear one other instrument in my head at least. maybe strings? not sure" - featured by wirrow, 8 April
Here's the mp3 file.
Yeah it's only been up for about 3 hours, but I've always wanted to make a tiny tune out of one of wirrow's consistently great records, so I went for this gem!
It was entertaining singing this (the second half), because I started singing some mock voices, that just made it nice and adorable. Or undesirable.
What I would love to see is people singing and playing along to it in any way they feel. It's a very free kind of song, with so many potential things to add to it.

featured by wirrow date: 12th february 2012 ok i rarely feature remixes of my records.. but the clash of this soft sweet melody with the silly words made me laugh and warmed me at the same time. i think this would be nice with maybe a girl voice too? ok im gona check out ur records now, there better be more songs there!
It's just a quick song. And it's about people. Lots of people. And other things... maybe RE: The Road...
I left this intentionally bare because I wanted people to add as much as they could to it. So more vocals, more instruments, solo instrument section, anything! Stems up soon enough.
A major - 3/4 - 190bpm
Lyrics
People on form, people on time,
People magically on top of their shit,
People changing and I know for one I'll be a son of a gun if I don't change one bit to get where I end up,
People folding, people without an apetite,
People exiting things without saving them prior,
People know I'm not one for a show but I can't help but aim a bit higher,
I was told I should prepare for the best of days and best of days I'll get,
Can I be a fighter and a runner?
I'm not one of those gambling men, but I'm my safest bet, and I quite like roulette,
People don't show, people loco,
Why'd he run from the bun 'cause he's bored of the oven,
I can't stand people raising their hand as they tell me there's no such thing as lovin', they're just being stubborn,
I was told I shouldn't mind if they hammer at my head,
That's just the order we are placed in,
What else could I do but fight my own way through instead, to make some real good bread,
Hurry there's no time for wastin',
There are doctors, there are nurses,
There are killers and coppers and warriors even now,
You can think that you're fine then you blink and you're old and you've lost all your money,
And no one is talking and reading gets harder but you know the truth still,
People are people,
You know the truth still, people are people,
You know the truth still, weak and their feeble, people are people.
Hello there! This rather short idea of music is inspired by JenniferChittenden's RECord "Collecting Stars", which is intensely beautiful. I really enjoyed playing musically with the art, and I love the concept she includes. The STEMS will be provided in the RESULTS section, if anyone wants to journey further with the idea. Then, if we get some animators to do their magic on the visual side, we can produce a wonderful new collaboration!
Okay enjoy now.
JoeRud
This is a loop song of something I think every person on this planet has experienced (and probably some animals too). That moment when two people are trying to pass each other and keep walking into each other. Every time you correct yourself, the other person corrects him/herself as well. And so a non-contact, polite battle ensues!
This is really just a first draft idea. I'll put up the stems on request if anyone fancies messing around with different parts.
My poor condenser mic is on its last legs these days, so I apologise for the stubborn fuzzes.
Lyrics:
I move one way, you move the same way,
Stuck in an awkward parallel,
You move the other way, I do the same,
And now we're under the same old spell where...
It required a lot of deep breaths throughout (for me). But all experienced singers, piece-a-cake :)

Really catchy contribution to the "RE: Loops" collaboration, and one that anyone could sing or play along to. The lyrics are posted in the record's description, so it's all about getting the timing right and uploading your audio stems so remixers can put them all together.
Hey everyone! Metaphorest and I wanted to write a song together, and so here it is!
Lyrics
Too long do I wait for the sun,
To lift me from my bed,
And yet, I know it soon will show,
And shut my eyes instead,
Too long do I wait for a sign,
To give meaning to my day,
So I sit inside and swallow my pride,
And waste the day away,
Too long have I bore such a load,
That sits upon my chest,
But the day I'm free will surely be,
Among the very best
This is the first (mostly {ha}) falsetto song. And I'm glad it was this one. It makes me feel so many things. The wonder of finding something hidden and undiscovered. The conflict of mind and eyes. The conflict between the norm and the abnorm. The frustration and isolation of not being believed.... So this is probably about someone trying to hold onto their sanity after seeing something extraordinary and beautiful. But I think it's also about the mere beauty of seeing it.
I kept it intentionally thin in texture, because I knew there were some exceedingly good musicians/composers who could find something to do with it.
Lyrics:
Maybe I saw it,
Maybe I didn't,
Maybe my eyes are deceiving me,
What if I saw it,
What if you didn't,
I have a feeling I'm the only one who can see,
Yes, I was alone,
But you've got to believe me,
You know, if it was a lie,
Then what is this meaning,
Give me the meaning,
I...I know what I saw,
And it wasn't nothing,
You know, if it was a lie,
Then what is the meaning,
Give me the meaning,
Please, let's forget this,
I'm so exhausted,
I haven't slept since I saw it that night.

spaceship's lyrics got me inspired rather quickly. So I want to share it before I became too lazy to pursue it.
Fine, fine poetry.
This was pretty difficult to sing. So if I seem panicked and unstable, I am.

STEMS IN RESULTS
I heard Metaphorest's achingly beautiful song, with a melody that I can hardly hum without a tear, and I thought up some vocals, and a bit of a duet.
I'll put up my set of stems in a bit, but if you want the rest, go see the resource.
Thank you Sarah for sharing the song with us all.
Hello Sarah!
I know there's no official need to give you a gift, but I wrote this song with your voice in mind. So the gift is really a request/"challenge". To sing it instead of me (it's a bit high for me :D )
You obviously don't have an obligation to undertake the task. But I'm sure it will sound 10 times as good with your voice.
So enjoy it, and play around with it. The stems are in the results section. So just scrap my voice and go for it. Any questions, comment!
And Merry Christmas Metaphorest!
Lyrics:
When I know that I've had enough, And my shoes are slipping off, It's a day I could never seem to get quite right, And I know I saw it coming, I know I saw it coming,
I never have fun on New Years, I never have fun on New Years, I never have any fun on New Years, It'll only get worse when you appear,
Forget the city forget the lights, Forget the boys in navy tights, Forget the love I loved and lost, I know its unbecoming, And I know you're never coming, I never have fun on New Years, I never have fun on New Years, I never have any fun on New Years, It'll only get worse when you appear.
A subject that I've been experimenting with. Death is something that I don't think enough about, yet from writing this song, I now know why I don't think about it.
Stems on request.

Lyrics
Fade to nothing,
I’ve gone so freely,
You, you made it so easy,
Where’s the problem?
There’s a moment looming,
That’s what I’m assuming,
I know we need our own time to take,
And that nothing may come from hoping,
But for your sake
I thank you and I’ll see you again
Lift away, away now,
I’m feeling nothing,
I left my suffering home with you
I didn’t cry like I thought I would
I didn’t break a sweat, but maybe I did?
It helps to think of another life,
One that ends when we all end,
Make no mistake,
I love you, and I’ll see you again
I love you, and I know I will then
This song's inspired by the image tale by OnLy_aMy called 'Letting Go'. And while I find it quite difficult to stay in context with the songs I write, I think the main idea behind it is a reluctance to continue life after loss/separation because of a person's idea of a perfect story. And almost every aspect of life afterwards is a reminder of the metaphorical glow generated from the two within the perfect story.
But that's just my take on the song and the image combined.
Anyway, it's a nice assortment of images.
I think my mic's gone bust, which is why I can't seem to mix it so that the background noise is completely gone, but if anyone can, lovely.
Lyrics Tell me a story I haven't heard before, Tell me a story I will remember, Show me there's a life I can wait for, But I hope I don't have to wait too long, even though you know I would, I hope you'll grow with me, And ever so elegantly, But soon when words run out, I can only hope you won't run too, Tell me you'll be sorry when its over, (Don't you lie to me) Keep me on the right side of the good books, I hope that we'll glow, With a light so bright yellow, And soon when light runs out, I can only hope you won't run too, I hope you'll grow with me, And ever so delicately, But soon when words run out, I can only hope you make the choice, I hope to hell you won't run too.
Tempo=150, but varies.

I thought to myself what it would be like in the shoes of a literary/filmic villain, and the secret source of their "evil".
But this is just my interpretation of my piece. I want to know what else can be heard.
This is a song written from the lyrics of a great short poem by conrobertyler. It's what I heard when reading it anyway. Would like drums/piano/any other instrument available, as well as of course some visual art!
YAY AUDIO WORKS
A short and sweet poem by writingtheworld called 'capes' is the lyrical content of this song. It's a simple song, just nice to find different invisible layers within it. I could do these things all day/night, writing music to all the words you hitrecorders bring to existence.
STEMS are in a .zip file in the results...
Enjoy, remix.
I was thinking about what this music meant when I was writing it. And this idea was growing, pushing its way through, like a rainforest vine climbing the body of a towering tree.
But that was just an idea...

Go forth and remix!
A nicely written poem by belcath1981 that I immediately wanted to sing and play. I did it very quickly and simply. Hopefully it could be the grounds for a collaboration. Thank you belcath1981 for this profound poem.
The place where I was born is not my home,
Ever since I was a little girl I felt the need to roam.
Here is not where I want to be,
This place takes the happy right out of me.
Though here is where I came to exist,
It's another place I've always missed.
Since I met you somewhere far away,
I think about leaving every day.
That song we love playing in my ears,
Brings my eyes to tears.
That movie we always watch,
Makes me miss you so much.
I long to be with you in that other place,
I close my eyes and see your smiling face.
I can't wait to see what life has in store,
Because I'm homesick for a place I've never lived before...
One form an album I've been writing. I think I'd love someone to find more from it. Collaborations are encouraged.

Verse 3

The crafty Wolf uses all manners of chicanery to lure the sympathetic swine from his sanctuary.
This song will hopefully be the first of three Pig Persuasions, the musical accounts of how the Big Bad Wolf consumed the three little Pigs, solely through the voice of the Wolf.
D major – 4/4 – 140bpm
Lyrics
I am sorry, little Pig,
I wasn’t thinking at the time,
I was hungry and alone,
But I know I crossed the line,
I’ve been feeling overwhelmed,
We were friends before,
So come out and we’ll make up,
Just move away your straw,
I hope you can forgive,
And soon you will forget,
Leaving your house like this,
Is a move you will regret,
I must thank you for the meal,
You have fed my appetite,
Now you’re safe within my gut,
And with that… I bid you goodnight. The empty records were because I HAD SPACES IN MY FILE NAME. I'M SORRY MATT I FORGOT :(
This is a slight addition to an eerily familiar and beautiful song from Pamagotchi and Joab Nevo, based on a real favourite collab of mine by seldelaterre by the name of 'The Cutting Edge', you may have heard of it.
I added some vocal harmonies and octave doubling. Just wanted to build up that ending nicely, it's so well done. I also introduced some more strings to build some intensity at the end. My remixing really only happens after the 2 minute marker, because I thought the isolation of Pam's voice is just too pure and moving to mess with.
I also want to add, Joab, that the musical patterns that you've used in this piece have been incredible to listen to. I'm really inspired.
And as usual, it's much more enjoyable with headphones/HQ speakers, but no one's watching...
...I think...
Okay this is take 3. You'd think after years of practice, I wouldn't get any surprises...
This is a beautifully cosmic song from the guitarisms of Matthew_Lister, the poeticisms of blbest, and the melodicisms of pamagotchi.
I'm just pitching in with some male harmonies.
A lot of fun. And more fun to be had.
This is a pretty rough record. I wrote it an hour ago, and I think I just really wanted to get a record out for Val Day. Especially with the great stuff already up! (Pamagotchi, Krrr, Robo_J, just a few among the many wondrous tracks).
This is about someone who's trying to express a love so ineffable in the most sufficient and appropriate way, and while doing so, plays their paramore to a blissful sleep.
Happy Valentine's Day!
Lyrics
I'm making you a promise this Valentine's Day,
I'll sit by your bedside 'til you drift away,
And while you shut your heavy eyes,
I'll play you something, I'll play you something,
I'm giving you moment so listen close,
I'm making you a promise that I love you most,
And just before you say another word,
I'd like to play you something,
Let me play you something,
I can see you smiling,
So just keep on smiling,
While I play you something.
A major - 4/4 -100bpm - stems on request...
This is the second of three (as you all well know) songs about the devourment of the poor piggies. In this section, Twig Pig is well aware of the recent actions of the Wolf, but Wolf does not deny, he only attempts to rectify. And fools the little pig with words of love and guilt.
It's most affective on headphones/good speakers, as per.
Lyrics
I hope you see me for what I've done,
I'm a homeless, heartless, jealous one,
I only ask one thing from you,
Open up, those sticks won't keep me from loving you,
I hope you know that what I've done,
Was far from happy, far from fun,
Your faith in me has blown well away,
The guilt I feel I cannot convey,
Say what you will, I will wait right here,
You've got no choice, at the end of the day,
I hope you see me for what I'm for,
A humble harmless carnivore,
So step outside your wooden door,
Though I don't feel so guilty anymore.

tdolan recently wrote a bitterly beautiful poem by the name of 'the last 5 nights.' And hearing her request for the ability to sing it out, I wrote the music/melody. It may not be what some people would hear when first reading the words, but it's definitely what I hear.
Lyrics are tdolan's record in the resources.
Db major (my favourite) - 4/4 - 180bpm - stems up soon!
I'd love someone to add instruments to the track. Possibly a nice soft trumpet solo/duo or something.
Headphones would suit you nicely ;)
This is a bit of a mess, so stems will definitely be included when I finally untangle it all.
It's probably about someone's denial of the sudden change in atmosphere of a relationship. One minute, you're blissfully ignorant, the next, you've both found the fundamental flaws, and consequently, the demise of a once unvanquishable love. But you love them mostly...
More vocals? Instruments? Or even a tiny story around the idea.
I just listened to this on headphones and I recommend you do the same! Rather good.
G major - 4/4 - 130bpm
Lyrics:
I'll just find one reason then I'll leave us both alone,
Pack my case and find a key and hand you back the phone,
Right is right and wrong is something no one likes to see,
But I love you mostly, I love you mostly.
Roads are narrow and untried,
When I thought things were bad, I forgot, okay?
Right is right and wrong is something no one likes to see,
But I love you mostly, I love.
You.
Most.

This is a song written from the lamentable lyrics of sophiecolfa. It sang to me and I RECorded.
The rather full instrumentation consists of a main vocals, two BVs, an acoustic guitar, a celesta, a harpsichord, an orchestral kit and some strings. I've tried to mix it as naturally as possible, but I'm not there on the mixing expertise yet. But hopefully the song will do the lyrics an utmost justice.
Thank you Sophie for the beautiful lyrics.

Happy Monday tout le monde.

I heard the theme this morning and it was unfortunate that I wasn't on the subway, or it would've had an even bigger effect on me. But it was a big enough effect for me to want to jump on in with a bass part. I was going through a lot of bass parts for this actually, but I guess I settled with this one.
This is a perfect theme for the story. Bravo Madisen.
People need to be jumping in on this! Maybe a vibraphone in there somewhere. As if anyone owns a vibraphone...
Special RECognition to seldelaterre.
This is a bit of an over the top musical adaptation of the story of a Waker. It may be overly distorted, out of time, overwhelming (often) and hard to follow, but then what's a dream if not those things.
Lots of guitar rig stuff (trem, reverb) . 4 vox, electric echo drum kit, bass, electric bass.
Lyrics
You hide yourself away until you know, you trust, you can be anyone's friend,
You sold your bed to keep your head a secret, just waiting for the dream to end,
Waker, it's gonna be a long night,
And it's a colder one this winter,
Warmer for the dreamer, heaven knows,
Waker, are you feeling alright?
No longer the Dali of DreamShare,
You're doing your best to fight, there will be..
Nothing left in Hollywood when nobody is thinking for themselves,
You reminisce the days when they were wonders, for you and no one else
Waker...etc...
There will be nothing left in Hollywood.

I really love this tiny tune by themetafictionist, as well as I Am 1954's vocal addition, so I added some vocals of my own. And big ol' oakey bassline, and some ethereal strings as well, just to help feed the dream-state.
Thanks Rainey for this beauty!
Great writing. Great inspiration.
Pretty simple tune, just love playing it over and over and over and over again.
B minor - 4/4 - 230bpm
I don't really know what this is. I wanted to write it for KamPAIGN's VocalMental Collaboration (check it!), so really it's the most vocal-based song I have ever done, and I don't count myself a great singer, so you see my predicament.
But it could be of some use, or it could be left well alone, it's not for me to decide anymore.
I was also a HUGE idiot, and didn't check a tone before I started, so it's microscopically flat of E major...
So ~Gmajor - 4/4 - 100bpm - STEMS IN RESULTS
I could also rerecord it if people are bugged about the microtoning...
Lyrics
December lust, falling upon my head,
Discovered things, help me to feel wanted,
And other things carry on falling,
December lust falling upon my head,
I know the truth, heaven knows I feel it,
Although for you, I suddenly doubt it,
December love, creeping upon me,
I find myself way beyond my boundaries,
And no one else could make it so easy,
December love, creeping upon me,
I know the truth, heaven knows I feel it,
Although for you, I suddenly doubt it,
Discovered things help me to feel wanted,
And other things carry on falling,
Way beyond my boundaries,
And no one else could make it so easy.
This is probably the weirdest song I've ever written... And that includes the Pig Persuasions.
This is really about being in love with a Llama. I think there's some inspiration from Benjamin Zepheniah's 'I'm in Love with a Hedgehog'.
E major - 4/4 - 160bpm - stems on request
Lyrics
My llama lover, my llama lover, I couldn't help myself
I got a lover that I don't see much,
She's not a looker but she's got that touch,
She's got the curves that will blow your mind,
But in a herd she gets hard to find and I,
Know you're thinking, have I thought this through,
While I'm in London she's in south Peru,
And the fact that I'm a human too,
I didn't say it would be easy she's my,
Llama lover, my llama lover, I couldn't help myself,
She's my cria she's my cuzco kid,
I wanna see her but my folks forbid,
And right now she's gone off the grid,
Because she's a llama, she's my,
Llama lover, my llama lover, I couldn't help myself,
Thought she was a camel, when I saw her from the front,
As she turned around I could see she had no hump,
Her ears may look like bananas, she may be taller standing up,
But I will take her from the farmer and she can leave her sorry dump,
Llama lama guanico glama lama vicugna,
Home in our pajamas on a rainy afternoonya,
Maybe if you wanna go I'll save a day in Juneya,
Llama lama guanico glama lama vicugna,
My llama lover, my llama lover, I couldn't help myself.

Lyrics
To find my worth in this world,
I'm looking for a head start,
I make dumb deals all the time,
And its tearing me well apart
20 years in a day,
To find my worth in this world
94 nights, 3000 miles away,
And its me and the girl
Look out, here comes the morning,
I know, I heard it coming,
The sparrow pulls me forward
To find my worth in this world, my worth in this world,
To make some sense of this world of mine,
I'm looking the other way,
Cruelty crawls through the cracks,
And I'm wishing I could stay,
29 hours, 3000 miles apart,
Is it a wonderful world,
Look out, here comes the morning,
I know I heard it coming,
The sparrow pulls me forward,
To find my worth in this world, worth in this world,
I never had a nickname,
I wouldn't want one anyway,
I wouldn't feel myself,
Open up and look okay,
It isn't fair to fight it,
It shouldn't be so hard,
You shouldn't lose yourself in,
How you'll feel another day,
How you'll feel another day.

A flat major - 12/8 - 90bpm
Check resource for lyrics!
This is too short right now. But I wanted to place the idea here just so I could go back to this if I screw any developments up. Also, I'd just really like to hear what someone else could do with it! If I put up the stems, it's easily extendable.
So I will.. soon..
I was thinking it could be a good RE:loops thing. Maybe...
G major - 6/8 - 90bpm
Lyrics
So I'm stuck at work again,
While you're saving my seat by the aisle,
And I know I said it was a slow day,
But what do you want me to do?
We'll work it all out,
I promise we'll talk about it,
We'll work it all out,
Trust me on this.
By the way, the word 'symphony' comes from the Greek word 'symphonia', meaning 'concord of sound'... Have fun!
The Aisle Seat Symphony has got bigger and hopefully better. It's quite a change for my music. Not quite a lullaby.
There's still lots that can be done I think. Like a bigger vocal aspect. Especially from an iminent Ola Szmidt to be involved!
Look to resources for lyrics. A verse is missing that Ola wished to write at around 1:42. So I look forward to that.
I'll pop the stems up asap.
Enjoy the noise! With headphones!
This is really rough and raw and all that. Because I just came home from university for break and forgot most of my recording equipment. I'm going to use the blonde card on that one.
But you should all get the idea of the music anyway.
It's the response to a challenge issued by writergirl811, who challenged me to turn any of her text records into music. I definitely did it, I just hope I did it well!
Thanks for the challenge writergirl811!

Lyrics
I'm on with a button, I don't blink when they tell me that I can't love,
I move with a sound of rusty bolts and I'm loud enough and strong enough,
But when I sit in the dark, I dream of all these colours surrounding me,
And it kills me to say this, but I'm running away to feel truly free,
It's not okay, it's not okay, it's not living unless I say,
It's not okay, I'm not your game, I want something else and not obey,
I get tired and overheated, I get low and defeated like anyone else,
And it cuts deep within, I don't need a coat of skin to go and hurt myself,
It's not easy to say this but I'm running away to feel truly free,
It's not okay, it's not okay, it's not living unless I say,
It's not okay, I'm not your game, I want something else and not obey,
CHALLENGE FROM mixedtapes.
This was quite a difficult one. A great poem by andrewhip. But I really wanted to achieve something out of it. Must have inherited my perseverance from my Dad.

I had a choice of a lot of great records, but I chose this one, just to see where I can go with it.
And I think it can go further than this. So maybe think of some ideas.

CHALLENGE FROM Pamagotchi
This was a great challenge, and my most recent challenge (sorry guys for not sticking to the order).
"I CHALLENGE YOU to write a song (with or without lyrics) about your favourite smell or colour, without explicitly saying what the smell/colour is. More of what it reminds you of, what images spring to mind. Make it SMELLY/COLOURFUL."
I chose both a colour and a sort of smell...
Lyrics
Such bitter nostalgia,
A sweetness in colour,
And all I see when peace shines through,
The earth is something strange,
But when I see its change,
I realise its not so true, no,
I realise the life I've lost,
I'm sitting on a softer moss,
Where everything is clear and new,
I feel a need to say this stuff,
'Cause wearing it is not enough,
And sharing isn't hard to do,
Such calm intervention,
That teases my senses,
A world within a shade serene,
In honesty, it thrills,
The shimmer of the hills,
Resting as it's always been,
There's nothing you can show me, more sheltering and homely,
With wonders that can capture you,
I feel a need to show you why the image of a lighter sky,
Is all I see when peace shines through.

This isn't the challenge that I should be working on. Though it's based on a record by DebraLou, who recently gave me a great challenge that I'm now working on.
I made it nice and tough to remix... No metre. Played in microtone (because of the harmonium). Just not helpful Joseph.
This is the music I hear when I see the folk-spirited sketch titled 'Awaken'. I too am ready for the spring, and I like to think that spring is a warm emergence of colour and beauty. I like to think that I can see it happening right before my eyes. So I'd like you to listen to this and go see spring.
Wonderful sketch.
Wonderful night.
Happy Easter.
CHALLENGE BY Joab Nevo
Finally got round to BVing this great party song. I wanted to add some little chuckles and vocal noodling as well as just a reasonably supportive BV line. Hopefully it'll suffice Joab! I'll put up the stems later today, but I warn you, they're mainly the voice of a seemingly drunk young man.
Everyone, get on this track!

"You are super busy and super awesome. If you find you have some time, I'd love to challenge you to create a tiny song based on my tiny story found here:http://www.hitrecord.org/records/1116448. Good luck and Good luck!"
This just happened, I don't...
Thanks LilyFluffbottom!

CHALLENGE BY Matthew_Lister
'I've always wanted to visit the UK but never had the money. Bring it to me, in a song. Please.'
This is my first EVER nationalist song. I'm currently in the green, serene scene of southwest Wales, and thus have been inspired to write this for Matt. I'm not even nearly as skilled as Matt on the guitar, but it's something, and I hope, Matt, that you can picture the UK from these words.
Lyrics
Let me go out to the country,
Where trees have stood for a thousand yeras,
The sky is clear and quiet above me,
And the morning birdsong fills my ears,
Let me go into the city,
Where every colour fills the streets,
A manic masterpiece in motion,
It's oh so stirring and oh so sweet,
Let me go to the British border,
Where songs are sung of the olden day,
Public houses hold the worker,
And all of them sing their cares away,
And all of them drink their cares away,
Let me leave my resting headstone,
By that old cathedral in that Pembroke town,
I fell in love with an island kingdom,
And all of the things it's based around.

this is just wonderful i keep listening to it. as much as i love it's folk simplicity, maybe we can add 1 or 2 instruments to it?
but beyond that.. i really think there's a collab here. i'm not sure what it is. it's not quite a cities collab but by the same sentiment, expressing what you love about where you're from.
i've always been wary of people being 'proud' of where they're from and i've always frowned upon art with a national fervor. but i really like when people are INSPIRED by where they're from. i think these sweet lyrics sort of encompass that inspiration and longing for the place you fell in love with.
perhaps it could even fall into a 'home' collab? i'm not sure if there is one already.
anyway i love this dude

"I’d ask you to write a song for me, about anything… But I see you already have so many requests. >_< Ah, people just really like your music. :)"
She said write about anything, and so I chose one of her RECords. The art got me writing music. I don't really know what it is, as a song.
Lyrics
Out of life, music starts,
Slow at first, early verse, I see it all go,
Open up, then fall apart,
Tender words, all these words, become a show,
But never you mind, no,
Never you mind,
It's hidden this time, so,
But it's still inside,
Found a house, but no one was there,
Search the town, tear it down, and still there's nothing,
Now I'm told, life isn't fair, people don't share,
I'm not done, I can keep up while I'm falling,
But never you mind no,
Never you mind,
It's hidden this time, so,
But it's still inside,
There's something to life, I know,
I'll tell you with pride,
There's something to life, I know,
So never you mind.

"oh dang it. i'm a little late to the party :( i, too, want a joerud song all for meeeee! i listen to many sad & bitter songs it seems (and they aren't helping me) i wish for a song to wake up to, one that makes me happy and hopeful :)"
I don't know how hopeful this makes you. But I had hopeful intentions.
It's pretty messy/needs cleaning up, I know this.
Lyrics
I never thought of that,
The feeling I wake up to, I never realised,
The reason I want the things that I do,
It doesn't follow me,
And I can assure you now, I'd happily,
Spend all my earnings on changing my tune,
Fall in love again,
Clear the way I said,
If it is time, it's time that we knew,
I'll shut my door on it,
Open a world and sit with a smile,
As I wait for the next empty train to come through,
(I told you I'm feeling it too)
I'm a sorry one,
I should have been watching it, I could be there by now,
And sipping earl grey where no one has been,
I'm the only one,
It doesn't surprise me one bit that I'm almost gone,
And all that you're left with is "what do you mean?"

"My challenge for you is two fold; first please immerse yourself in this imagehttp://www.hitrecord.org/records/1099648 then write and RECord the duet they are singing - you may need to challenge another to duet with you. Please keep it short to tiny as the second part is to then challenge another hitRECorder to animate it into a tiny film. Let the games begin!"
So this is the first half of the challenge. Because I'm currently in talks with a duetter! (two headed beasts!)
Lyrics
Let's make peace with each other, then make war with everyone else.

So I very recently uploaded a song based on a two-headed monster causing havoc on the world. And I asked the talented MadisenMusic to join me, as I did feel it was right up his street. He accepted and emerged with this! Thanks Madisen!
This is the 'complete' result of CaptClare's challenge for me also!
I really felt Robo_J's 'Beat 320', and have definitely been wanting to sing something over his work. So I gave it a quick go. It could do with some more vocals and lyrics if there's any interest.
Lyrics
Trip me up and pull my hair,
Tear apart the clothes I wear,
All is quiet and all is fair,
But I will never give you what you want,
Make a fist for all we know,
I'll follow up with a picture show,
Don't it hurt you, don't it though,
But I will never give you what you want,
You and I are something else,
You have fallen for the wrong one,
Way beyond the point of help,
Stay the night and I'll be long gone,
Kill the sound and hit the lights,
Tell me how we end the night,
You've gone soft and I'm a rock,
Sit down, you'll be in shock for some time,
Getting harder to break your heart.
I listened to the vocal ref that seldelaterre sang, and I wanted to sing with her harmonies. They were exactly what I was imagining when I first listened to the track, so I put in some mayul vowkles. One L harmony, one R. And a bass sustain sort of thing as well. It's also pretty rough, but I'll have the stems up in a sec. Sit tight.
Unfortunately, can't seem to resource JulesKD's poem but here: http://www.hitrecord.org/records/227840
It's a magnificent piece of writing, and I feel I have missed out for not seeing it earlier like 3 years earlier! But I wanted it to reemerge, and I've used music to do that. The style is quite similar to my older stuff. I just loved to sing the words so naturally, and I'd love others to sing with me, the harmonies here are mere suggestions and guides. I'll have the stems up in no time. More instruments would be GREAT too. Thank you Jules for this beautiful RECord.
E major - 6/8 - 65bpm
Be cool. Wear headphones.
Somebody do something with it.
Lyrics
I'm ready to see you, I'm ready to cool you down, down,
As soon as I get to, I'm willing to stay in town, town,
I've been wanting to leave here, and now more than ever, ask me over,
It's not getting easier, but it keeps getting better, ever closer
I've been saving up and up, just to get up and head your way, your way,
And I'm keeping my door shut, 'cause everyday is not my day, my day,
I've been meaning to travel, so I'll travel in style, best believe it,
I'm not feeling tired, are you? If you ask me then I'll move, ever closer,
Let us just forget the chance we almost had,
Let me know the place I'll go where I won't get mad,
Closer everytime we see a funny flag, Closer,
I've been calling your name out, when me food is seeming bland, so bland,
I've been seeing your face about, and I almost hold their hand, your hand,
I've had quite enough here, enough for the both of us,
It's a little rough here, and I'm ready to go there, or somewhere, or nowhere, ever closer.
Ab Major - 4/4 - 150bpm
I mean, I just heard it... And it was good. So good. And I've wanted to collaborate with ppeppina for a while so I started here. Just two BVs to comfort her gorgeous recently-recovered voice.
Stems soonish.
I really, really liked this tiny story by TheSerpentTheCharmer. And I don't think I've done a tiny tune in a while, and this one has the Awkward Parallel kind of feel (in the fact that it is almost impossible to find a breath to sing the whole thing!)
BUT... The end of the song could be fun with more people!
If I die, tell the rest I'm fine, that I went to find myself, and that I lost track of time
B major - 4/4 - 175bpm
