Here's a bit of an odd story, my Mom called me from work about an hour ago to tell me there was a really pretty moth outside the door where she works. She said "naturally I haven't seen it but everyone says it's so pretty & I thought that girl in France (Sandy) who likes the butterflies would like it" She hadn't seen it because my Mom is TERRIFIED of moths, she couldn't even go look at it. So I drove out to where she works thinking it will never still be there, but it was & here it is.
With references to nusha's butterfly video, and rjdpa's butterfly pictures, I remembered these that I took a few years ago in Maine during the Monarch Butterfly migration. There were hundreds of them, it was so exciting and beautiful.
First time seeing my favorite bug at my cabin. It's a Lunar Moth and the picture doesn't do it justice. There are probably better pics on the net but this bug is on my porch now so there you have it.

After having taken the two pictures of this butterfly, I wanted to create a wallpaper of a sort of hybrid animal with lightning wings. This work is still in progress but if you have any idea on how to use this, feel free to do so :)

I'm allergic to bees, so it's a little intimidating shooting them with a macro! Alas, my (naked) knees also happened to be resting on a nice little ant hill.
Took a snapshot of a butterfly, later photo-enhanced it on my iPhoto for Macbook. This was in the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History in the Butterfly & Plants Exhibition; Butterfly Pavilion.
This was taken on my iphone while out walking at the weekend. It turned out better than I could have possibly imagined, so I thought I'd share it on here! :)
