This is a collection of my video RECords on the site.
I REmixed TwistedThursday's "As One" Tiny Story into this short video. I edited some of the text a bit to fit the visuals I shot, so you'll notice it's slightly different than the REsource. What really drew me to this Tiny Story was that it really worked as a literal story (ice into water.) But I really feel that, symbolically, it speaks volumes about what some people feel about life and death - that we are reunited with those we love after this life. For the past day the story really stayed with me and it continues to affect me. I'm not really sure what TwistedThursday's original intention was with the piece (maybe literal, maybe a bit more symbolic) but what makes all art so important is that it is up to the viewer how it is interpreted. I hope TwistedThursday likes how I perceived her beautiful piece of writing.

I just got a new puppy today named Scout. She's a Welsh Corgi and was named after Scout from "To Kill a Mockingbird."
I edited this video of footage from her first day as a Conley and us... |

Here is 10 minutes of "Little Things" footage I shot for everyone to use for their projects. Enjoy!
Toss put together an amazing REmix of Metaphorest's "Imaginary Friends" Tiny Story. It was one of the best examples of pooled REsources I've come across on the site. She got all the right feelings down and it was a very emotional RECord. I made a few changes to her version and used a few additional REsources here and there.
This is the low-res version. The high-res version for REmixing purposes is here: http://hitrecord.org/records/261849 I RECorded the process of uploading my "eleven/eleven" video as the clock struck midnight on 11/11.

The high-res version for REmixing purposes can be downloaded here: http://hitrecord.org/records/279925 Here's a video REmix of aszarkowski's "tiny story: cigarettes (a REmix)" which was a REmix of "Tiny Story: Cigarettes"by MadisenMusic. A huge round of thanks to all those that contributed voice overs on the fly at my REquest a little while ago. All of them were so wonderful, unique, and funny. LilacAmy11's reading just so happened to fit into the way I had crafted the video REsources. I'd love to see and hear others' REmixes of this Tiny Story. On a side note, I just have to say that RECharged's scream is one of the funniest sounds ever.
Take 1 on editing new footage to the Earth section of "Nebulullaby" (which begins at 3:59:02 in the song.)
This clip features Tanja as Earth and myself as her offspring.
The first two attempts at uploading this video failed to encode (and I had to correct a minor visual error) so I RE/REmixed it for all of those that missed out on seeing what Marielv contributed to the original footage I shot with my pal Dan Chandler as a blood seeking vampire.
Here's a REcap of this project:
This was a big collaborative effort that took almost five months to completely come together. wirrow wrote the Tiny Story "seeking bloods" in early June and I shot the vampire footage with my friend Dan Chandler a few weeks later. But the footage needed some key animation to move forward.
This past week the project was resurrected by hitRECorder Marielv, whose wonderful bat animation and titling added just what the video needed to move to the next phase; the next phase being narration.
The voice over contributions were fantastic as always. After playing around with a few options, I decided to use pamagotchi's reading. I REmixed a few takes together and found she captured the campy b-movie vibe I ended up going with on the production.
Thanks again to everyone who was involved in this one. It was really a fun experience to have all of these components come together in order to REmix wirrow's mysterious Tiny Story. I had a blast!
Additional sound effects are from www.sounddogs.com
HelloLindsayyyyyy and crispyfuller collaborated on a funny live action video of HelloLindsayyyyyy's Tiny Story "Monster." Their concept is really good, especially the inclusion of the potato chips.
Here's a REmix with a few changes. The original structure is there but there's a new voice over, shorter cuts, and different bumpers.

A (high-resolution) visual examination of the patterns in reality, our mind, and the universe, set to the words of Carl Jung.
When we dream about an experience our minds tend to present our memories back to us in some sort of fragmented state. Instead of REplaying the experience back to us, often times we get glimpses of moments, of people, and often our auditory senses distort the playback in our head.
So this is how a dream about hitRECord at Sundance 2010 might look, and feel, in the unconscious state.
Here is the video introduction to the "REmix Theatre Presents..." collaboration, which you can contrinute to here: http://hitrecord.org/records/314888
Here are some bullet points that the video discusses:
1. LOGO / TITLE
The official title is: hitRECord's REmix Theatre Presents...
I'd like to keep the official "hitRECord logo" as is, but "REmix Theatre Presents..." needs an entirely different font, arrangement, and color scheme.
And as for a logo...
I'm envisioning a very basic logo with 2-3 colors, and very shape-oriented in design. Think of how television networks (especially cable access channels) tend to use circles and lines primarily, often working with light blue and green as a color palette.
2. ANIMATED OPENING SEQUENCE
We'll need graphic designers and animators to work together to create a short animated opening sequence. Since the premise is very B-Movie/TV oriented, making it campy, yet edgy, is a top priority.
Perhaps the premise of the sequence would be to enter an old, decrepit theatre that's completely empty and dark, with flickering lights hinting at what's inside. Then simply to have a spotlight charge up and brighten up retro-looking text saying "hitRECord's REmix Theatre Presents..."
Then we'd find a way to create a blank palette where titles could be added by future REmixers (as in simply placing text over video, without needing any animation experience to do so.)
3. THEME MUSIC
To have a theme composed specifically for the collaboration would be really great. I'm thinking something primarily made up of strings and darker bass undertones would be great (all coming in at around 20-30 seconds.) Again, the vibe is retro, so old B-Movies would be a ood source of inspiration.
4. ACTORS AS HOSTS
After the animated opening sequence and titles conclude, the idea is to have a host appear and introduce the video RECord. I was thinking that it'd be fun for actors on the site to create aliases that could serve as the hosts. Some actors could create personas like that of Rod Serling (the host of "Twilight Zone") while others may want to really channel B-Movies and play it real over-the-top mold a fictional character based on the video being shown (if it's a zombie movie being introduced you could play a deranged scientist or something.)
5. CONCEPTUAL ENGINEERS
This last title I came up with to describe anyone who is into this idea but doesn't have the time or resources to actually create the components needed for the show. "Conceptual Engineers" can help by providing the most valuable contributions of all: IDEAS.
So, if you have a suggestion, an opinion, or want to lend a hand in compiling REsources from hitRECord that would help this project along, you could:
* Create an album, add RECords that might go with this project, and contrinute that album, with notes, into the collaboration here: http://hitrecord.org/records/314888
* Make a Text RECord, REsource this RECord here, and write ideas down for the collaboration.
* Contribute a Text RECord to the collab with existing RECords that fit into the horror/sci-fi/B-Movie genres so episodes can be crafted around them.
* Write Introduction Text RECords that hosts can act out when introducing suggested video RECords.
Thanks for checking out this stream of ideas! I'm looking forward to seeing what we all can come up with! :)

* Moved the song later in the video
* Did some slight trimming to the animation at the end to coincide with the musical score
I thought I'd see what would happen if I REmixed the animated version of "Jack, the Nihilistic Anglerpod" with live action footage by CameronSmith.
After cruising through a lot of the 2010 College Tour footage I was struck by a conversation at NYU between RegularJOE and a member of the audience about copyright and intellectual property laws. The discussion segued into how hitRECord is makes its art open to a collaborative community that can REvise, REfine, and RE-RECord anything that is uploaded.
I have to give a special shout-out to Dr. Gory for being the man with a movie camera for the New York University event. I have a real appreciation for the effort involved in getting the necessary coverage in the type of space the NYU event occurred in.
But there was a lot of shot variety throughout the EX3 videos, making it possible to create the illusion (in the editing room) that there were multiple EX3 cameras getting all kinds of shots during the conversation. This type of REmixing is when wide and ultra wide shots really come in handy. :)
I made a mistake earlier and uploaded a version that was missing a 3 second clip in it. So this is the definitive version of "The College Tour Accord."
Basically a follow-up to "Intellectual Properties," a REmix of a conversation at NYU during the College Tour, "The College Tour Accord" is RegularJOE's REmixed explanation of the "hitRECord Accord" to the students of UPenn on November 17th, 2010.
Didn't have to do much acting for this emotion.
Happy birthday, dude (and lemme know what 30's like...)
I am going to have a daughter this summer and this afternoon I got my first real glimpse at her. It was an experience of immeasurable beauty and joy.
While it is one thing to see the whole body in its entirety, it was particularly amazing to watch the heart beat. The ultrasound camera is creates so many visual perspectives and sometimes you are viewing the exterior of the baby, and other times you are suddenly within the body, viewing the organs and the muscles.
I'll never forget one particular moment where the heart was the main focus on the screen. It's beating at around 142 bps and it looks so tiny, and yet it's so prominent. But what really struck me was the baby's whole body seemed to just be a glowing outline. In that series of moments it became clear to me that our bodies truly are just physical vessels.

Oh, and I absolutely loved what the technician said to us about her job and how much she loves doing it. I just had to use that audio byte to open the video.
Watching the old home movies that fraeulein uploaded made me think of the times when my brother Brendan and I were growing up and we'd play around all day long. RegularJOE's "Mommy & Me" makes for such a wonderful soundtrack to family memories.
The icon for this RECord is my brother and I on our front steps. I must've been worried about the goings on of the Reagan administration that day, hence my paranoid expression.

Some REmixed thoughts on approaching the big 3-0 next month...
Some big developments are underway over at the "REmix Theatre" collaboration. The premiere of the "pilot episode" is drawing near and I wanted to present v1 of the television show's opening sequence to help establish some of the new elements within the collaboration.
To get involved with the "REmix Theatre" program, join the collaboration here: http://hitrecord.org/records/314888
Here are some of the new components:
* The title is officially "REmix Theatre"
* The project's subtitle is "a hitRECord cable modem access collaboration"
* The style of the show remains campy but the tone of it is darker and more focused on presenting RECords classified by the horror genre.
* More to come...
I will be unveiling a new update tomorrow with details on some of the new things we need to work together to create. For now I wanted to post this opening sequence to establish the tone and style the program will have going forward.
So many of you have worked so hard on the project and I cannot thank you all enough. So far the experience has felt like I'd imagine the television industry is sort of like; as in the creative process behind it, not the money and contract sheeeit.
That being said, everyone who has been involved with "REmix Theatre" (or "REmix Theatre Presents..." as it was known as yesterday) has been incredible to work with. Everyone's contributions have been extremely helpful and so very much appreciated.
I think the toughest part for me has been shifting gears from the original concept now that we've come this far. I don't want anyone to think their work has fallen by the wayside. In fact it's quite the opposite. Every RECord, idea, or form of support has propelled the project forward. New ideas come from old ones and inspiration grows from each part of everything involved. Creativity just keeps evolving.
What gets gained is a clearer focus. I think that's been achieved over the past few months and I'm excited to see how we continue to craft other aspects of the project in order to build our first official episode.
So thanks again for working on "REmix Theatre" with me.
All the love in the land. <3

I shot a bunch of footage of the SUPERMOON tonight.
There are a variety of shots in this RECord, including some water reflection/splash as well.
I didn't time lapse any of the shots, so feel free to REmix some of the longer takes by speeding up the film at your own discretion.
Here's the "Network ID" for the hitRECord cable modem access channel (complete with a catchy little jingle by sbambrick that I REmixed slightly.)
Also included in this file is the "Coming Up Next" title card for the pilot episode of "REmix Theatre" (which, naturally, comes on at the ungodly hour of 3AM.)
This is the (blank) "End Credits/Network Closing ID" sequence for "REmix Theatre."
Here are some notes:
* The opening sound (before the spinning reel visuals) is meant to carry over from the actual end of the show itself; essentially the sound effect is a transitional bridge.
* All the text credits will go over the spinning reels (which run for approximately 6 seconds.)
* The credits are intentionally fast, for two reasons: 1) To keep the overall running time as short as possible, and 2) Because old television shows always had text-heavy credits screens that you never had the the time to read.
The following Public Domain video was used:
* "End of the World" - http://www.archive.org/details/EndoftheWorld
* The credits will likely list all contributors to "REmix Theatre" (first those whose RECords were used to create the structure of the show and secondly those whose RECords were used in the "Featured Video.")
This video will help those looking to create fictional host characters for the pilot episode of "REmix Theatre." I've expounded on some of the notes and directorial cues within the script's original text.
If anyone has additional questions or comments, please post them below and I'll get back to you ASAP.
We're *this* close to creating a full television show... One final element to go!
Thanks!!! :)
Remember what it was like the first time you got to leave the neighborhood alone... on a bike?
Last year I interviewed my two friends Billy and Dan Chandler (they're twins.) They did candid discussions about similar dreams and feelings they had about the way the unexplored sections of their neighborhood appeared to them.
Both brothers seemed uncertain if certain aspects of their recollections were memories, dreams, or nightmares...

***v1: NEEDS VOICEOVER - Refer to this script: http://hitrecord.org/records/365503***
Earlier today I uploaded a three line script for the "Retro RECord Store Commercial" I'm making. I wanted to upload v1 of the video without any narration.
The purpose of this sans narration version is to help new narrators time the lines. The only directorial note I have going forward is that the "Again by heart" line will likely come at the end, a few seconds after the "RECord Store" line. So pause accordingly; no need to rush into that line.
Day Glo, themetafictionist, buggzero, and Kavonne have already contributed readings and I wanted to collectively provide some feedback: They're all in the right direction (i.e. old fashioned, enthusiastic, overly emphasized, and diverse.) Plus they all fit timing-wise! I've tested each of the first four contributions against this edit and I'm really pleased with the results!
I've REsourced all of their readings below so that new readers can refer to them.
Note: I'd like to wrap this portion of the "REmix Theatre" commercials up by the evening of Monday 4.4, so please try and get those audio files in before then. Let me know via a comment if you'll need more time. :)
Metaphorest's vocal REmix of mikeregannoise's "Telephone" instrumental really resonated with me. It's just the right length and features somewhat of an abrupt ending. So I figured I'd compile some visual REsources and tell the story of the song... with a slight twist.
You see, I interpreted the song a bit differently than the ending suggested. I think the woman would pick up the phone after thinking back on the times she had with the boyfriend; especially since they were together yesterday. So I wanted to add a touch of hopefulness and possible reconciliation at the end, just for good measure. :)
Note: REmixes can be very challenging when you're pooling multiple REsources to tell a linear story. In case anyone was wondering, the character in the video is supposed to be the same woman throughout the video (but played by three different actresses from three different videos.) I did my best to edit it so she'd look the same in each cut (the actress from "Noiry Night" didn't quite have the short blonde hair look, so I stuck with silhouetted shots of her.)
I just wanted to throw that intent out there in case anyone was wondering.
Here is the final version of the "Retro RECord Store Ad" that will air during the Pilot Episode of the upcoming "REmix Theatre" (which is one clip away from being complete.)
Thanks so much to all of you who contributed voice over readings. It was INSANELY difficult to narrow down all the takes from everyone to just one. Everyone did such phenomenal readings and I am so grateful.
After testing all of the voice overs (there were over 100 takes to go through) I eventually sided with one of Richie Millenium's readings.
A few words on Richie: Many of you know him as a resident voice over master, but I have to say that he showcased his versatility on this project. I was completely caught off guard with his performances, for he was nearly unrecognizable to my ears at first. He captured the spirit of old school advertising and did so incognito. His RECord of multiple takes was a feast for the auditory senses and I felt he encapsulated the '60s era in such a unique way. I bow to you, Richie.
Thanks again to all of you global contributors!
The "REmix Theatre" collaboration began on January 18, 2011 and, after nearly three months of hard work by the contributing community, the 'Pilot Episode' is officially on the air.
I had no idea if making a quasi late night television show was even going to be possible. But I figured it was worth a try.
As outlandish a concept as it was at times, the community was remarkably supportive and immensely helpful in contributing the essential pieces to the project. And I wanted us to aim high, making the show as close to real television as possible: commercials, credits, bumpers, and network IDs had to be created just for this.
With the pilot in the can, my hope now is that this Pilot Episode will help inspire future installments. The idea behind "REmix Theatre" was always to establish some kind of structure and then have other hitRECorders pick and choose which parts they would like to carry over into new episodes. And with new episodes would come new Featured RECords, new fictional host characters, and new formats.
I did my best to cite every REsource involved with the project but I did want to highlight a few key contributors to this production, without whom none of this end product would have been possible:
* thesherbethead: I'm forever indebted to this creaive spirit. His theme music contribution really kickstarted the whole thing when it was in a lull and helped me figure out the direction it truly needed to go in. And Vincent McSuperfly is a character I really enjoy. Did you know that #McSuperfly has been trending since 1976? I thought it was since '77, but wikipedia was incorrect.
* Melanne: Heavily involved from the get-go, Melanne's ideas and passion motivated me day in and day out to keep going and stick with it.
* themetafictionist: Every single RECord on the site has the ability to inspire. When themetafictionist uploaded "How To Wear Your hitRECord Button" I remember thinking for a while what her RECord reminded me of. Then it came to me. It was like an infomercial from the '50s. I had already REmixed a Public Domain ad for "Free TV" and I had decided that was to be the lone commercial for the show. But then I decided to work on the "Retro RECord Store Ad" collaboration and that was one of the most fun things I've worked on (plus I think it adds a nice light-hearted touch to the show.)
* Dolphin170: There were so many excellent logos uploaded to the initial "REmix Theatre" collaboration, but Dolphin170's "Hitrecord Network Logo" was the one that I found myself really connecting with. Her logo was so uniquely retro and simple, and it hit on all the points I was looking for. That one design became so integral in the crucial "Network IDs" that bookend the episode.

We can all agree pamagotchi indeed has a spectacular voice, but in the three readings she provided for this she truly sounded like a journalist; it was quite the departure from most of her other readings. I felt her voice over lent itself wonderfully to this in all of its satirical authenticity.

A HUGE THANKS to all the hitRCorders who filmed the events and provided all the footage. I think everyone's getting the hang of the live show recording!
Also, another HUGE THANKS to audio engineer extraordinaire jeffpeff. His audio tracks came in handy big time with this video.

Here is Version 1 of the video for "A Fake History of Miami."
I wanted to try and structure some kind of surreal narrative around some of the performance-based RECords of Edward Shallow. After playing around with a few ideas, I came up with this.
The follow Public Domain footage was used:

My Mom cleaned out most of her basement recently. One of the few things that remain is the bicycle she used to ride around in back in the late '70s and early '80s. The yellow baby seat I once sat in is still attached.
I don't have too many clear memories of the bike, but I vaguely remember that yellow baby seat and some snippets from the rides we went on during my childhood.
And now its tires have been flat for what seems like decades and the cobwebs have gotten to it. But it's still down there, in the basement.
Made this promo spot to try and highlight a little of everything about the upcoming "hitRECord At the Movies (in London.)"
Note: You'll all have to excuse my poor dubbing of Joe to get him to say "What kind of movie theatre 'hit(s) RECord?'" I tacked on that "sss" sound and it's an ear sore. But I wanted to keep it anyway.

Having a day off today provided a bit of extra free time so I decided to jump on board Issaness's "hitRECord Mugshots" collaboration in video format.
I'm curious as to where the collaboration can go. Maybe some stories can be crafted out of the mugshots, like how recording is sometimes seen as "against the law" or something.
Maybe some short scripts could be written that depict current recording laws that seem out of date (hence, the vintage mugshots that result in various forms of recording that should be legal.) Producing modern day laws in historical fashion is one way to emphasize that the law can often times seem 'old fashioned.'
Here is a little clip of scarletoak's "Gathered Heart REmix" spinning a la 'Wheel of Fortune.' This could be used at the beginning of RE-REC videos.
Here is a portion of "Sundays Are For RE-RECs" edited down a bit and sans animation. This could be used at the beginning of RE-REC videos.
Here is a little bumper for the weekly RE-RECommendation collaboration featuring the main character from "They Can't Turn the Lights Off" playing a word game on the computer.
Here's a short promo animation featuring Ryan Patrick's cartoon character floating amongst the clouds. Just wanted to reiterate that Mr. Patrick's been bringing a lot of energy and humor to his weekly RE-RECommendation videos, so if you javen't checked out his videos then I'd recommend watching 'em.
This could just serve as a RE-REC ad, or an intro to anyone's RE-REC videos.
I've been a huge fan of ditha's "Hearty Heart" character from the "RE-REC Logos & Graphics" collaboration so I decided to do an animated RE-REC bumper (or promo, depending on how you look at it.) For this video I re-named him "Heart Guy."
You could tack part of this video onto your weekly RE-REC video or REmix it into another kind of RE-REC promo.

Some thoughts on my trip to the cinema to see the re-release of "E.T." back in 1985 for the "RE: Cinema" collaboration.
A second or two of the first sentence got snipped; no biggie. All it said was something like "My most memorable experience was..."
Raw footage of my rant on how our culture is fed faster paced films so that we'll supposedly be less distracted when we watch movies surrounded by our arenal of distractive devices.
A discussion on the way cinema has impacted my life.
A discussion of my two favorite cinemas: the Avon and the Cable Car, both located in Providence, RI.
Also, the discussion includes thoughts on how videos made for the web are, in a sense, often meant to have a cinematic "feel" to them and benefit from a theatrical presentation. The computer screen, or a tiny cell phone screen, is seldom the way videos are truly meant to be viewed or experienced.
This week's RE-RECs will have to be slightly abridged due to having an extremely busy week (and I wouldn't miss a week of RE-RECs for the world.) I had to narrow my discussions down to three pieces of art, though I worked in as many additional works and/or collaborations as I could.
It's been said that technology is like a shit-covered whore that wants to eat your face off. Well, like any shit-covered whore that wants to eat your face off, it can be defeated - again and again, by heart.
I should probably go and get a tetnis shot after filming this particular RE-REC video. :o

You can download this and import it into your video editing software and all you'll have to do for each slide is jot down the record name and its artist. You can keep using this template week to week and it'll save you the hassle of having to number slides.

Note: I had to upload tis a few days earlier, as I'll be out of town. Remember, friends: "Sundays are for RE-RECs!"
A collection of raw stock footage of a blazing bonfire.
Today, October 14th, marks my 3rd year anniversary on hitRECord. Just wanted to say a few things to all the collaborators out there in the world.
***RE-RECs: The FALL FORMAL Special***
This week check out what's going down with the Fall Formal collaboration...
...and remember: Sundays are for RE-RECs.
Basically just a really rough test version of an introduction to the "hitRECord on Halloween" show. Just wanted to get the ball rolling on compiling and cutting together some creepy visuals.
Day Glo's voice over was used for the announcement (intercut with Richie et al.)
I'll give it another go once the official copy for the voice over announcement gets released and there are more graphics to play around with for titles, graphics, etc.
The uncertainty of the intro voice over leaves a lot of room to expand the opening, so - for now - I focused mostly on the end montage of horrific (and rather campy) Halloween imagery.
An abstract remix of Channing Tatum's "Half a Clown."
Much thanks to all of you that contributed some exemplary readings of "Parallels" earlier today!

An abstract remix of Channing Tatum's "Half a Clown."

Time is this shallow dream
Held together with string
And as the shadows glimmer
The calm returns like magic

Teaser for the "Creation Myth" collaboration to highlight some of the contributions (so far) to the "a new hevn" project. It's also supposed to play like a preview before a feature, hinting at the story and giving a glimpse at the audio and visuals.
Ozie's cool animation provides the bulk of this particular coming attraction's moving images and Johnnyclyde's music was sampled and remixed over RegularJOE's narration (and the audio is best heard with headphones.)
Last summer Geno uploaded this really interesting footage entitled "The Talk Man." I did a rather serious type of Tiny Film remix while RegularJOE, well, went in another direction with his cut (to say the least - haha.)
And it's absolutely funny as all hell the way he cut his mix - right to the point.
Oh, and I also liked his title a lot too. It's another great part of the punchline set-up. Deceiving, ain't it?
So, over a year later, I decided to return to the footage and basically fuse the two versions together. I've made the intro to the character from my version slightly longer than before but used the same vocal clip and timing (more or less) that Joe used.
I just think the establishing shot sequence of outdoor location clips adds to the peaceful (and clearly misleading) set-up for the shocking profanity that follows.
Sundays are for RE-RECs!
Here's a new version of the intro video for the "hitRECord on Halloween" show in New York City.
In this version there's a movie theatre introduction assembled to coincide with new voice over samples as well as additional horror movie cuts, more red hues throughout, and logos and inserts created by 12:42.
With this v3 intro for "hitRECord on Halloween" I integrated a remixed version of RyThoJo's "Halloween Music" to increase the musical energy a bit at the end, while still maintaining a Halloween vibe for the horror clip montage.
Here is some atmospheric Halloween stock footage for anyone that's in need of some cutaways or generic b-roll.
Nobody seems to put jack-o'lanterns on their stoops anymore so the shots are limited to the following:
* Ghost and bat decorative lights at night
* Eerie window view out onto the street
* Pans of dark curtains with silhouettes of swaying branches
Rarely has a RECord struck me as emotionally as stargirl1013's "Starlight Drive-In" vignette. The camerawork was raw and seemed like such a personal perspective of what remained of a local movie drive-in she had just discovered.
Her reflections were so striking to me and she had matched her voice over with the perfect companion in amferraro's "careless young." Normally in a remix containing voice over I may ask for the track separate, but I was able to trim and rearrange it with the music in tact. In a way it preserved the precious timing of the original.
Drive-in footage was tough to come by but I think the visual emphasis in the cutaways is more about the people themselves that used to sit in their cars watching movies together rather than grandiose cinematography of the drive-in experience. Besides, stargirl1013's piece was really about what remains of what once was.
I love drive-ins, and I'm glad that some are still around. I hope more will be built for future generations.

Sundays are for RE-RECs!
The following Public Domain footage was used:

Here is a mix of the live performance of "Patterns & Prayers" at the "Hit RECord on Halloween" show in New York City.
Note:
The spoken word audio on this version was taken directly from the Dr. Gory file. I just added a little reverb to it. There are some parts where the sound maxes out slightly and creates slight distortion. Once the ProTools files come out I can work them into this cut and upload an alternative sound version.
Some additional color correcting needs to be done as well as some mastering on the grain effects, so this is still very much a work-in-progress. Some video clips differ too much in overall quality so I may switch a few shots here and there to keep the look more consistent.
Removing the "cut the music" part during the walk to the podium is a possibility as well. I think it disrupts the flow and mood slightly (even if it was a part of the live performance in a sense.)
Also, this is the LOW-RES version. The high-resolution version exceeds 400mb.
Here's my wish for the "11:11 Wishes" collaboration.
***The first upload didn't stream on the site, so I'm uploading again.***
Sundays are for RE-RECs! :)
The following Public Domain footage was used:
* "After Death" - http://www.archive.org/details/AfterDeath-Trailer
A second cut of RegularJOE's live performance of "Patterns & Prayers" from the "Hit RECord on Halloween" show in New York City. This is the Low-Res version (at about 45% max quality.) Also, I have a slew of bullet point notes to accompany the new version (see below.)
EDITING NOTES:
* The walk to the podium introduction was changed quite a bit:
- Incorporated a snippet of the organ from the original video to blend into the ambient soundtrack
- Removed the rhythmic score elements of "Dreams of Another" and left the more moodier portions and blended them with the similar tones of "Circles of Latitude."
- Re-cut some of the entry shots and did away with the "cut the music" moments altogether.
* The crowd audio was remixed quite a bit to reduce conversations during the podium intro.
* Corrected the grayscale on several shots throughout the performance segment. There's still one rogue shot that will probably need to be replaced, for it seems to stand out in graininess and brightness a bit.
* There is no longer any music during the monologue. Music returns during the bow at the end and rolls into the brief shot of the spotlight and the empty stage, and the credits.
* Added the paper rip sample from the end of the original video as the logo quickly fades at the end.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
* I liked RegularJOE's suggestion of adding the organ sample from the original version. While I did use it for a few seconds, the original audio includes background noise (footsteps, paper crinkling, etc.) so perhaps a composer could duplicate the organ note and upload it?
* The walk to the podium seems a bit hit-and-miss. In the first version I liked the rhythmic pieces of "Dreams of Another," for they were moody and dark, and I think they ccompanied the physicality of the walk. In this version there is primarily just ambience.
* Matbe we could get some composers to create some kind of brief score to coincide with the opening section leading up to the podium? Joe suggested this earlier, that any kind of music should probably be written specifically for the live performance.
* Regarding music in general, I personaly feel there needs to be some kind of bookended theme. Starting off dark and gloomy while ending with the piano notes (and a sense of optimism) are what I personally associate with the piece musically. It goes from dark to light, just as the text reminds us that what we send out from our hearts creates the world around us (that's how I interpret it at least.)
and finally...
* What do you guys think of v2? I'd love to hear what everyone's thoughts are on this and how we can make it better. :)
Played around with Eskapurla's animation of MadisenMusic's "Hursery" Tiny Story.
The remix consists of:
* Titles
* hitRECord bumper
* An alternate VO take by RegularJOE
* Movement added to the animation (mainly in press/media cutaways)
* Alternate sound effects (microphone squeel, camera flashes, gavel, coughing in the courthouse, etc.)
* Reverb on the effects
* Establishing zoom-in shot of the courthouse
Played around a bit with 12:42's "Proposition... (a tiny film)" and brought it down from a minute+ to just over 30 seconds to fit in line with most of the other Tiny Films.
Essentially the beginning was altered a little bit, and the end as well. The middle section was reduced quite a bit due to length. I tried to sample the parts I thought were the stand out moments and fit them into a remixed musical soundtrack.
This version is now just shorter all around and tightened up a bit.

Here is a pre-audio board assembly of a new version of "The Wicked Wicth" from the Fall Formal.
Here are some notes:
* Added titles
* No music
* Added an establishing shot of the Orpheum exterior
* Extended the intro to include a quick mention of Tiny Stories/Tiny Films
* Pamagotchi's entrance to the stage and pre-VO are remixed with additional cuts
* Less animation, more live b-roll during the reading
* Additional crowd shots to close out the piece
* Remixed end bumper
* Any new resources used on this version are resourced below
Changes to the "Assembly" cut:
* Added soundboard audio to all clips
* New Tiny Stories voice over audio introduction
* Alternate big screen slide cue (matches the new audio byte now)
Note:
This file accidentally includes a bunch of soundboard audio well after the video concludes, causing it to run 5+ minutes.
The actual running time is exactly 45 seconds.

In a parallel universe, fate intervened differently in RegularJOE's quest to venture downtown to RECord the Occupy Wall Street movement in November of 2011.
Here is a remix of "The Outsider (tiny animation)" by Eskapurla.
These are some editorial notes:
* Added a title card during the establishing shot at the beginning
* Used a voiceover by steviestar3
* No music
* Altered the timing of the animation to coincide with the reading (extended some frames and sped up a few frames where aplicable)
* Added sound effects of nature, waves, seagulls, etc.
* Made the last shot the big wave and cut to black instead of the hR logo
Here is some historical stock footage of money that I think would lend itself nicely to one of the "Occupy Wall Street" videos. I transferred it into a 16:9 video file and preserved its original 4:3 aspect ratio.

Animated Susan0987's illustration of smweed's "Midas (Greek Tiny Story)" using the voice over from the live show at the Toronto International Film Festival.
This also has the potential to be expanded quite a bit to include the lead-up to the reading at the TIFF show, as well as the applause and all of that after the reading (similar in style and arrangement to my remix of Pamagotchi's "Wicked Witch" reading from the Fall Formal.)
I felt Day Glo hit the nail on the head with one of his takes of "Goblin Ears." I was eager to mix in his voice over and sort of create a first version of this Tiny Film.
The "VO REquest" is resourced below, so anyone can upload their reading. This first version will help provide the timing of some of the visual cues, so it would be best to watch this while doing any readings.
Put together a Tiny Film for MadisenMusic's "Sleep Contrast" Tiny Story.
I would like to tighten up the intro with the couple. I'll probably cut from them in the two shot and maybe silhouette the backs of their heads with a reworked composition of the TV. The hand-holding is a bit distracting I think and doesn't really establishinsomnia in any waY.
Sundays are for RE-RECs!
"The scientist had a lab..."
This Tiny Film needs several things from the community. Below are some notes for each request:
1) VOICE OVER
- The best way to time the reading of yes-you-am's story is to read along with the video (and you'll probably want to conclude the reading before the dissolve into winter.)
- Here is the text: In the end, he just decided to call it an early Christmas decoration.
- I'd imagine the vocal tone to be pretty matter-of-fact. There probably shouldn't be much expression in the reading I'd imagine. It's pretty straight forward as it's essentially a narrator making a statement.
- As always, multiple takes are key when doing readings. Uploading as many takes with as much variety as possible is crucial.
2) MUSIC
- Since the video is quite short, I think the music should be pretty subtle. There is a transformation of seasons, and from light to dark. That's probably the best way to think of how the score should sound and I envision a slight shift in tone during the dissolve into winter.
- The more variety in musical options, the better. Feel free to upload with the music attached to the video (especially if there are certain cues that need to be emphasized.)
3) SOUND F/X
- Sound effects are not necessarily crucial to the piece, but they may add a nice touch.
- I think some birds chirping during the summer section may be nice.
- I think for the winter part that some soft breeze rolling in as the snow begins to fall may also be a nice subtle touch.
*ADDITIONAL NOTES*
- I can always adjust the timing and play around with the animation further. This is pretty much a rough draft visual-wise.
- My biggest concern at the moment is that the kite stands out enough to the viewer. Surely the narrator will help alert the viewer to it but I do want to be sure the eye notices it rather quickly when the animation sequence first begins.
- If anyone has any suggestions for additions, alterations, etc. then please leave a remark.
THANKS!
New version featuring a voice over, ambient sound effects, a subtle musical score, Christmas lights in the winter sequence, a new establishing shot of the kite at the beginning, and a cameo by Santa and his reindeer.
This is still a work in progress, so please upload some readings and/or musical compositions to accompany the animation. Thanks!

This base layer assembly edit consists of footage of the "LRRH" narrators synched up with RegularJOE's audio track "Little Red Riding Hood STORY_EDIT."
This resource could be used as a b-roll base layer that can be cut back and forth to.
Note: Since the whole thing is about 9 minutes long, the resolution is drastically reduced so it comes in under the 400mb limit.

Sundays are for RE-RECs!
Here's V1 of Scene 1 for the "Little Red Riding Hood" assembly, with some notes below.
I tried working in as many different resources (from hitRECord and the Public Domain) into this Scene 1 assembly to get a sense of how the story's set-up scene works with varying looks for each character and setting (as well as including the narrator footage as well.)
Scene 1 seems like a good jump-off point to throw in as many different things as possible so the audience knows right away that there will not be a consistent look to the characters, settings, etc.
There are certainly some vocal cues in the narration that would benefit from some hitRECord animation, since most of the animations created thus far seem to be for Scenes 2 and beyond.
Suggestions:
* Take the clip of the Grandma (from the "Audition 3" resource) and add a grandma costume (bonnet, etc.) to give her more of a grandma look for that establishing shot. Personally, I think the cheesier and cruder the animation, the better.
* Create a title card featuring the "Once Upon a Time..." fairytale text. Overlaying it over a hitRECorder's illustration of the woods might be a good option.
* I liked the Public Domain footage of the Wolf playing the organ. Perhaps an animator could create some cutaways based off of the Public Domain footage using hitRECord resources and have the Wolf (or a new character) play the organ synched with the production's score.
In order to include more of the live action footage in Scenes 1-3, doing these kinds of "bobble head" animations using still images from other scenes will help bulk up the beginning with the actors and actresses.
This is a quick cutaway of Little Red Riding Hood saying "I will take great care."
Continuity Note:
* I re-drew the kitchen background that was held behind the actors and actresses in order to preserve some continuity with the action on stage.
* The still image of LRRH is from RegularJOE's "Scene 5 Take 1" shot. With regards to continuity, I had to "flip" the image so she was on the left side of the screen like she was in Scene 2.
A crudely animated sequence featuring the Mother's instructions to Little Red Riding Hood in Scene 2. It's intentionally tacky and could be a potential cutaway since live action footage from the earlier scenes is missing.
Continuity Note:
* I re-drew the kitchen background that was held behind the actors and actresses in order to preserve some continuity with the action on stage.
* The still image of the Mother is from Dr. Gory's "LRRH Scene 2 Take 1" shot.
This is the first half of Scene 3 assembled as a rough cut. This portion mainly consists of LRRH leaving home and meeting The Wolf.
The second half of Scene 3 is going to have lots of dialogue, so additional animation will be needed in that section more than any other I think.
Stay tuned!
Some thoughts on independence as a state of mind more than a tangible term.

Attention: ILLUSTRATORS / ANIMATORS / MUSICIANS / VOICE OVER ARTISTS
This is a REQUEST VIDEO for "Make-Up Sex: A Tiny Film" which will need the following elements from each set of artists:
1) ILLUSTRATORS
* Illustrate the LIPSTICK character (female, big lips, big eye lashes, smoking cigarette, Jessica Rabbit-esque)
* Illustrate the MASCARA character (male, mopey, middle-aged, mustache, droopy brush on his head, all-around pathetic)
* Illustrate HOTEL ROOM and HOTEL ROOM ELEMENTS (cheap motel bed, motel lamp with red lace over it, rustled sheets, miscellaneous clothing items, ash tray, cheesy framed beach painting, tacky wallpaper, bad carpet)
* Refer to MOCK-UP ILLUSTRATION in video for more details!!!
* Upload TRANSPARENT .PNG files of illustrations (with body parts separated for animators to use easily)
2) ANIMATORS
* Once illustrations roll in, follow the MOCK-UP ANIMATION in the request video and assemble the resources (video should be about 10-15 seconds.)
* This is a pull-back tracking shot with a rack focus midway that goes from the disappointed Lipstick to the pathetic Mascara character.
3) MUSICIANS
* The score is only going to be about 10-20 seconds long, but we want to open with jazz-type music (preferably a saxophone solo) that sets a sexual mood.
* The score gets muted and out of whack once the pathetic Mascara character is revealed.
* Further requests for music will come after an animation assembly is created and we can time the score according to the action and rhythms.
4) VOICE OVER ARTISTS
* The final narration and wording is not quite set yet. The wording could go a number of ways (both v1 and v2 of the Tiny Story are resourced below.)
* Once we have an animation assembly, we can determine the tone and specific wording for the voice over.
THANKS!!!!!

Now that there have been so many fantastic contributions to chloe04's "Character Collab," it's time to start writing stories about them so that we can begin making them into short films. We need the community to curate the contributions so writers and animators can remix these characters.
Here's what you can do:
* CREATE AN ALBUM: Contribute the characters to your album that you think writers should create stories for. You can include text notes in your album that suggest storylines for these characters or other RECords that might go well with one another. Then contribute your album to the "Character Collab."
Thanks!

Hi everyone,
Thank you for your patience as our web developers work to fix the Dashboard issues. We know how important the Dashboard is so here are a few suggestions to work around the current tech issues:
* Bookmark RECords that you are following the conversations of. That way you can quickly check in and view the thread and contribute your remarks accordingly.
* Bookmark the profile pages of the artists you follow on the site. On their profile page you can easily keep track of their recent records and recommendations.
* Bookmark collaborations you are involved in. By clicking "Recent" the most recent contributions to that collab will be filtered.

I felt like V1 of this Tiny Film needed more of a musical kick to smooth out the pacing and rather abrupt ending. I think "May's Dream" compliments the build up to the "slurp" and "May's Dream (BEAT)" brings in the end title card a bit better.

The Invisible Family gets framed.
The audio is going to need to be altered to obtain a more comedic effect, but in the meantime I'm going to keep using the pre-existing track. Anyone have ideas for tunes to play on these short videos?
Also, part of my idea for this collaboration was to kind of ease into the situations the Invisible Family is in. They start off with simple things, with straightforwrd text. But maybe by the 3rd or 4th in the series the language gets looser and the situations get a little stranger.
Just a thought going forward!
