I'll add to this as I think of more stuff that might be good for a DVD anthology.

Sorry if I was late to the REhearsal...

To quote the magnificent kamPAIGN...

"You know I had to do it rite..."

Although the video and the beat are not perfect, I am repeatedly amazed by hitRECord's creative process.

I hope this demonstrates why

It started as a couple conversations with the inimitable Sean Lennon, and look how far it's come! This is the version of Nebulullaby that screened at Sundance 2010. (Leaving UT today, we'll be updating with cited Resources and a new higher quality file with the proper aspect ratio soon )

This is my version of Metaphorest's "The Sorrow bird" poem. We tried to create a physical vision of what we saw in our heads when reading the poem.

I kinda see the sorrow bird as not only a bird but metaphorically "The grim reaper" or "Death" So we made a custom costume out of old halloween supplies and some items from the craft store into my idea of what the sorrow bird looks like.

The ending scene is something I wrote onto the story, as if the whole sequence and poem is a dream and the character wakes ups from a nightmare of dying.

This is just an Idea, but maybe someone can animate eyes into the sorrow bird or add more visuals? Let me know what you guys think?

Its a great dark poem and I had to create my vision of the poem.

anyways here is my first pass at it for MMM.. i still want to add some more titles and i need to figure out some why to convey how the score came together visually.
feel free to add/ remix/ you know do what we do here to this.

oh and cause of its size... you most likely will need to download it to view it

as always i hope you guys enjoy

I'd started thinking about reRECording some Morgan M Morgansen footage into a dream sequence a month or so ago. I was intrigued by the idea that the "white wall" world might be Morgan's reality, and the fully animated world might be his dreams. And when Joe announced the Inception dream doc, I decided to go for it. I have a few different ideas about what might be going on in this RECord, but I'm pretty satisfied that it's still quite a mystery to me. Maybe you'll see a story somewhere in there as you watch it....

This is the version of Morgan M. Morganson's Date with Destiny that screened at Sundance 2010. Throughout the festival, this is the one we'd show as our example. Whenever anybody asked, "what is hitRECord?" this was my answer: "Here, watch this short film we're making; you'll never believe who did it and how!"

Albert proposed an off-kilter writing exercise, and then Metaphorest's beautifully strange short story inspired it all. I read the story aloud, Jenyffer.Maria started drawing the characters, Tori animated Jen's drawings, Lula and I did a live-action rendition, Lawrie Brewster took the project to soaring heights with his gorgeous visuals, and along the way there was the help, encouragement and roughly 180 contributions from throughout our community. We brought it to Sundance, and Nathan coaxed the lush and vast music out of the newly coined hitRECorchestra. (Good_Girl_Indie has written out a fabulously detailed timeline documenting what happened and when along this RECord's progression.)

Not only did we close our (two) official hitRECord screening(s) in the New Frontier Microcinema with this piece, but the next day, Sundance added it as a short film to play before the award-winning feature HOMEWRECKER on a much bigger screen.

I actually watched the thing again just now. And I can whole-heartedly say that, besides the progressive methodology with which it was made, and besides the warm reception it received at Sundance, just purely as a little piece of art, as a short film, as a RECord -- I'm as proud of Morgan M. Morgansen's Date with Destiny as I am of any work I've ever done.

Thank you, everyone, for making it all happen!
and thanks again...

[PS] [updating soon with higher-res file, proper aspect ratio (!) and there's still more resources left to cite, etc, etc, etc...]

11/11/09 a renewed hitRECord is coming. Here's who's making it happen. [[proof we need a new website: broken remarks thread?]]

As you might have already heard, hitRECord is about to take a big step forward. On 11/11, we shed our rag-tag hobby and become a full fledged hybrid collaborative production company. We'll be going online with our new top-notch website hitRECord.org version 4. And I'll kick off my weekly video, called "The REGULARITY" which will gather us all up, and keep us working in a unified direction.

The REGULARITY Is Near #1 was the introduction to this news. I'm about to get started making The REGULARITY Is Near #3 where I'll get into the nuts and bolts of how this whole thing's gonna work. That'll complete The REGULARITY Is Near trilogy, oh boy a trilogy!

This video, #2 in the series, is about us. As the Teafearie says, quoting her friend Mark Pesce: "PEOPLE ARE THE NETWORK." I'm a firm believer that any human endeavor comes down to the humans involved. So who are the humans involved in hitRECord?

Well, there's me. There's my brother dan who's been doing this with me since the beginning back in 2005. And for the past year, I've been working with four friends of mine getting ready for what we're about to start doing come 11/11.

Jared helps me think everything through and actually make it happen. Marke designs and drafts the visual aesthetic. Luke handles the coding and computing. And Ronen is our resident internaut extraordinaire.

Last but not leastly, in fact, maybe mostly... there's YOU. Anyone who wants to hop on board and contribute is welcome. You can start by remixing yourself into this video. Here's the collaboration page to do so.

It's also a link below in the Resources box.
This'll all be a bit better organized with the new website :D

11/11 is less than three weeks away. The REGULARITY Is indeed very Near...

Richie's wonderful text-remix "The Truth Is" and all the great records of the readers moved me to remix all these readings with some images. Also very much inspired by GimikJo's great poem remix video record "Trace" (http://www.hitrecord.org/records/48202).

I hope you like it.

as always, by heart

P.S. I hope I didn't forget any resource, otherwise just tell me and I'll add it.
