Hello! It's me, gwen! =)
So. i pretty much spent most of my day searching through over a thousand RECords- and i must say, i feel so amazingly inspired right now by everything i have seen! i tried to really consider why i would most highly recommend certain RECords in this album, and i kept in mind that Joe was looking for projects we could work on together as a community. So, i thought of these RECords more as *Project Ideas* rather than just selecting my absolute favorite RECords in general. And now, i would like to write up a short description of what i personally would like to see grow from from these 10 RECords. (Also, i will be slipping in a random idea i had for a project later on tonight as a text RECord. Bad Gwen! *haha*)
My 10 Ideas for These 10 RECords:
1. The Shower (By Lizziemackie)
i would love to hear some really argumentative, aggressive, crazy shit going on inside Miss Lizzie's mind as she rakes her fingers through her hair- lots of different voices, male and female, and then maybe her own voice quietly trying to argue back... And then at the end when she puts her sunglasses on, Lizzie's voice says, "I'm coming for you." Then the video ends abruptly.
2. It's a Wonderful Life (By wirrow)
i just happen to be in love with this song and i would love for us to create an old school, story-themed music video for it- with actors, and maybe some animation mixed in- which i'm sure wirrow himself could even help us design. Maybe a masquerade dance like the one from Labyrinth with everyone in masks and fancy dresses.. and some fire spinning would be cool! We should get the Teafaerie and Dan and Thom to work on this! =)
3. "Everything" is on Fire (By Jordyn.Myah)
i am so proud to be the first person to heart this RECord.
Jordyn literally sets the word EVERYTHING on fire in this video, letter by letter. i would love to see a poem be written to accompany the video, with all of the lines starting with the word "Everything..." Something very repetitive and flowing, (even in the style of Joe's Nothing Big lyrics) ...So we see the letters burning, we listen to the poem... the poem is equal parts dark and light) and then the last line of the poem says "...and everything is on fire all the time." Then the music starts and we go into whatever video gets set to the actual song (Everything is on Fire ALl the Time)..
4. Dreamcatcher (By Cocooo)
This idea is really simple. This video is lovely, and it depicts a dreamcatcher at work... i would love to see what those dreams look like as they pass through the dreamcatcher- be they sweet dreams or nightmares.
5. Fitful (By Creative-Green13)
This one is pretty simple too. We SHOW what is haunting this girl as she sleeps. We hear the whispering... we see the ghosts... Very haunting and mysterious.
6. Short in Chicago (By EnjoyDuane)
Check this out. We use this video to portray our most adorable, fun-loving, beer & yoga master Duane as... a serial killer! i mean, come on! Just look at him with his Asian Johnny Depp good-looks walking the streets with that flower after he gets the phone call. We KNOW what you're up to, Duane! We're onto you! You're delivering that flower to the person you are about to murder, right??! *haha*
7. Typewriter Demand (By Tori)
This is a little more serious in nature. This RECord of Tori's- watching typewriter keys move, made me really think about how i've been obsessing over my own creative process lately- and questioning what defines something as art... So, what if we make a mini-documentary about the PROCESS of CREATING ART? We show things like this, typewriters typing, pens writing, instruments playing, painters painting... etc. ... and we also have lots and lots of people talking on camera about their own inspirations and what creative processes and tools they use to make what's happening in their heads translate into tangible, or audible, or visual works of art. i imagine this being very fast paced- and maybe about 5 or 6 minutes in length- but this could also be something that we grown into a lengthier project in the future as more and more material surfaces from hitRECorders.
8. Stanley: Flip Book (By Clay)
This one is EASY. We make a puppet movie- with Stanley and/or some other puppet stars- which maybe someone could even create by hand. i've actually tried making one of those Fandango-style brown bag puppets- and i came pretty close to making a cool one. But i much prefer the muppet look. Can anybody MAKE PUPPETS??! Also- we don't have to make the puppets say cute, kidlike stuff. Has anyone ever seen Peter Jackson's "Meet the Feebles??!" (which is Rated R?) *haha* Okay. Well, let's maybe not go THAT dark!!!
9. Time Lapse Videos (By SFBakstad)
Shay has made some really wonderful time lapse videos- both of city scenes and nature scenes. i would love to see these all pasted together, and then have a voice narration over the scenes talking about the concept of time- and showing quick flashes (maybe in black and white) of the way different random people around the world might be spending their time doing different things. So we hear the poem about time as we "watch" time passing and then things slow down only when we sort of ZOOM IN and focus on individual stories surrounding one little person- or insect or animal for that matter, on Earth. We could even thnk of this as a space alien's view of the world from above, you know? What would we show them if they were watching us?
10. Everything is Borrowed (By GimikJo)
This is just beautiful and it deserves to be used to make something else that's beautiful. i envision hearing people making wishes aloud as the lanterns all fly up. Maybe showing slow motion flashes of people closing their eyes and making their wishes as we listen to them. But i think the wishes should be very personal, important thoughts, as opposed to wishing you had some ice cream. Or- mixing the lighter thoughts LIKE wishing you had ice cream WITH stronger matters of the heart- like our real hope and dreams for ourselves and the future of humanity's existence- might be cool as well.
Well, like i said. i was highly inspired tonight, so i hope these ideas inspire someone else. <3
Much love, hitRECorders!

P.S. i would really love some feedback on these ideas from EVERYONE, so please let me know which- if any, of these ideas you like by leaving a comment for me on this album, okay? Thanks, loves! =)
