Alright now there's eight-hundred some contributions. Wow. I'm gonna start making something to show at the third show, so let's see what Resources I might use.

Also, it'd be some great work to make your version of a RE:Cities selects album, go through the hundreds of contributions and find which ones resonate with you. and use TIME-STAMPS. meaning if a RECord you put in your album is really good at 3:20, write that into your album's description. that way I (and any other remixers) know what part to look at.

I'm way too far from NY to have any chance of going to SITC but nonetheless, this is my 'wave hello' :)
Paper cities getting together on my desk and having their little hitRECord celebration.

Also, if this animation is of any use, I'm always glad to know)

The fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina has just passed and I wanted to contribute a REmix of Neilhouse's beautifully tragic song "Blue Dog," which is all about the city of New Orleans, to the "RE: Cities" project.

Definitely a somber piece, but I'm hoping the closing involving the musicians ends this one on a positive note for you, the viewer.

I’ve never lived in a big city. I live in a country that’s population is sixty-four percent of only New York’s population, and in a city that’s population is two and a half percent of New York’s population. That is no more than 200 000 people. However, I’ve never thought that I live in the countryside. If you have spent ten years of your life in a village where everyone knows everyone, you just don’t.
The biggest city I have ever been to must be Budapest, the capital of Hungary. It has still seven million people to go to be as big as New York, but for me it felt enormous. I loved every side of it, the old and new buildings, the tourist attractions, the market, the weather, the restaurants, the sound of the tramway going by. But more than anything, I loved the people.
A city is not a city without people. A city is a product of the people. People have been have been there, are there and will be there in the future. They have built it, changed it and finally personalized it. Each city has a feel of its own. The feel of the people.

It's not perfect but I hope some footage can be used in the collaboration...Paris is really the love of my life and today I have to leave the city. This collaboration couldn't arrive in a more significant time for me! Thank you so much for this marvellous opportunity and this mind-blowing place!

After a marching band rehearsal, I decided to ask a few people about what they thought about cities.
The people I interviewed range from sophmores to alumni to the band director!
I hope this adds to the Cities collab!

A "love letter" to public transportation in cities:) I am constantly enthralled by traveling on public transportation (even though I've been doing it for years). I love watching the people and feeing connected. I especially love doing it in cities I'm visiting. This is my first attempt at filming/editing, and also mixing song and speech. This is a skill I would love to get better at, so any feedback/advice from you amazing editors out there would be much appreciated. I had a ton of fun doing this:) Fun fact!: In the shot that goes with "The Circle Line is the best" when the train is going over the river, there is a really bright light on the bridge that I was so happy about because it synced up with Tom's line about the city being a sun. That light was because Transfomers 3 was filming and evidently needed an extremely bright shot. So thanks Transformers!:) ** I'm resourcing the latest Regularity on here because of Joe's comment about making a vid for the Cities collab. Although this isn't a documentary like he was talking about, it does incorporate several of the RECords in the Cities collab.

Cut together a collection of videos on the Cities record. I worked on the colors of the videos a bit, and tried to line up some visual cues. Also grabbed the song 'Portland At Night' and looped it once-ish, leaves it ambient and open for a voiceover...have a go.

Let me know if you dig it, or have any other ideas...

Cheers,
Derek

I I took this great piece by Marke and instead of doing the work I was supposed to be doing played with it for a couple hours and came up with this.

I'm going to work on this more and make something better, but thought I'd share and see if there's any suggestions before I go further. Also if anyone wants to add sound or the like please feel free to do so.
