Here are a few bits I love from Cities:

1) From "On Fire All The Time" 00:33-00:41, not because it's particularly related to Cities but because I still can't get that song out of my head, and I love the red sun/button behind the swinging girl. In fact, is there a way to just use the song, maybe blend it with the Glitch/Open Door neatness?

2) "My heart belongs to cities" is awesome! Check out 00:33-00:48 for a neat crayon mashed up with live photos/footage that has a tiny story feel. Also, 1:56-2:05 has a nice hitRECord plug that could be a great intro/outro. There's a really beautiful cracked heart at 1:58 that reminded me of my RECord "Disconnection" (not a Cities thing exactly but tugs at you if you get my drift).

3) How about the hitRECord subway map? Super, right? I love the heart shape and the squiggle through the center that gives the picture the tiniest bit of movement. It looks even cooler/cleaner kind of digipainted by Jane_TH. (Shout out to the metafictionist)

4) I'm from Texas so I'm including "RE: Cities - Houston, TX" for a bit of the homestate. I like 1:24-1:39 for several tidbits including the phrase "We came in peace for all mankind" and the balloons, also the Bayou reference which will touch lots of folks who remember our coastal tragedies (and ongoing recovery)

5) Which brings me to this piece from MattConley, "RE: Cities/RE: New Orleans". If I had to pick a slice, I'd say 1:25-1:33 crams the most images into a short span, but this whole video is just awesome, poignant, the "Blue Dog" music is so perfect, and Matt's right, I love the musicians at the end. (This might need to stand alone for another project, but I'm recommending it anyway :^)

6) Just added "RE: Cities...Because the city is your disco!" from OrigamiArtichoke. She has awesome photos, and this most recent one has a neat tiny story.

7) "Cities on My Desk" is so cute AND it's around 30 sec. Perfect, right?

8) Last, but not least...SOME VID OF AUSTIN, "SXSW/twenty ten" a)because I live here and b)because this is really cool SXSW stuff (wish I'd been there, hopefully this year coming). I'm partial to 00:00 up until the TeaFaerie and the Texas map around 00:45-00:48.

Since, two of my selects are the essentially the same, I get two more choices right?

I'll keep plugging away till you say turn in for the night. Thanks for the album suggestion. Those of us completely unschooled/intimidated by the video editing process totally love the opportunity to contribute!

So, tonight when it was 34 degrees (C. that would be 95,5 F) I sat down with a bottle of water and decided to make my own tribute to cities. 4 (or has it already been 5) hours later it's 3 am, I have to wake up in 4 hours, but I did it!

Ah, also - I weren't sure how to 'resource' wirrow's tiny stories quotes, so it would be nice if someone could tell me.

Ah one more thing - I tried to keep track of all resources, but I might have forgotten someone/something.

As per RichieMillenium's request (and due to the fact that the other video got cut-off at the end), I've uploaded a version of this video without music :D

I spent the afternoon driving around Houston with my cousin and brother taking videos of my favorite spots for this collaboration.

I'm the typical Military kid who got to move all over the place following her dad to wherever he was sent. I've lived in California, Florida, Virginia, Italy, Sicily, and Texas. I've also been to Germany, France, Spain, Luxembourg, Holland, and Sardinia. So I think it's safe to say that I've been to several cities in my 22 years. Anyway, we settled down long enough in Texas to allow me to graduate from high school. After graduation, I went to the Philippines for vacation and just never left. Within a week of arriving, I had enrolled at a local college and stayed for 4 years to earn a degree in Nursing. I graduated in April 2010 and moved back to Texas in May. The track in the background is of me talking about how it was like to live in the Philippines.

I think I get repetitive, but I wanted to include as much audio as possible to give others more material with which to work. I thought it'd be interesting to show the beauty of Houston (where I've lived for over 6 years) while I talked about a different way of life in another country to show the contrast in cultures.

I'll upload the more "upbeat" version of this video with music in a little bit. I just wanted to get this out in time for SITC :)

It's kind of long, but I hope this footage is useful to someone out there :)

PS: I'd like to thank my awesome cousin, Daryl, for driving me around Houston for the day; my cousin, irenmonkey, for lending us her car; and to my brother for coming along and making sure I wasn't lost.

I take a lot of inspiration from public transit maps, and the cities collab got me thinking about what hitRECord might look like in public transit map form. Excuse the ghettoness of my marker creation - I don't have the software to create a professional looking subway map (or the know-how). But I thought the concept was interesting.

The fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina has just passed and I wanted to contribute a REmix of Neilhouse's beautifully tragic song "Blue Dog," which is all about the city of New Orleans, to the "RE: Cities" project.

Definitely a somber piece, but I'm hoping the closing involving the musicians ends this one on a positive note for you, the viewer.

I'm way too far from NY to have any chance of going to SITC but nonetheless, this is my 'wave hello' :)
Paper cities getting together on my desk and having their little hitRECord celebration.

Also, if this animation is of any use, I'm always glad to know)

I didn't know what else to call this RECord, so I simply named it "SXSW / twenty ten." This is essentially my take on a recap video of the live shows hitRECord put on in Austin, Texas. I tried to encompass as much of how I felt about SXSW into this one.

This begins as a REmix of my first Interstitial Video, but then it goes into some of the moments I found most memorable and special out of the shows, as well as stuff that just so happened to cut well to the music I selected.

If I had to pick out a moment of this that I would want people to remember, I'd have to say it's the final moment of this video when Joe is watching RECords up on the big screen. The light happened to turn red and it was a great moment to have been captured of this site's creator enjoying the work he has helped us all create.

As an editor of other people's footage, I am always in debt to those that RECorded anything I've used. And in this particular case I really just want to highlight the work of milkriverfilm. His 18 minute "HitRECord @ South by Southwest" is something a lot of people seem to have missed. With only 166 views and 5 hearts as of now I feel it's something that got slept on and I encourage all of you to go check it out! It's marvelous!
