I think this is the first time I've ever left commentary on re-recommends, yet I feel the need to, partially because I have nothing better to do.

You Do Your Thing (remix- added female vocals) : This version, thanks to chigwinkle and laurajohanna, is BEAUTIFUL. I listened to all the remixes and I love them all though! This has a sweetness and tune that makes me want to wear a flowy dress and twirl even though I'm not even half as girly as that may sound. Great collaboration, I can't wait to hear more.

The Villian: After reading Jacksonblack's commentary on what he meant this illustration to be about, I then saw the emotion in the sci-fi villain's eyes. The eyes always get to me, and the speech bubble is perfect for this.

Melanie & Arthur: People should check out phenomenaaa's writing, she has many masterpieces. This is a wonderful tale. You may expect the ending, yet you still want to read anyway. That's what I love about the love stories/poems she writes.

Older/Younger: A Tiny Story: This is an awesome mashup of music, voice and video. Matt's pretty awesome at what he does and he always knows how to do it. He captured youth especially well in his video clips. Kudos to harperhippie and regularjoe for their contributions to that as well.

Hit Community: Not too long ago I came across a record of Matt Conley's in which he described how he came to love film editing. He directed us to a clip in which, without audio, no emotion would be evoked by the audience. Yet whoever made that movie added the right touch of audio to make a possibly dull moment, alive. Gidget did this in her video. With the right clips of SITC, music, and text, she was able to make raw moments amazing. Again, kudos to all who took the video shots and all that she remixed.

Monster: This is just so loveable! This little booger of a monster needs to be animated and have a permanent, continued place in hitrecord. Glad the tiny story was made as well =)

streamofconsciousness: Hopefully this dude right here doesn't get sick of being flattered. Through word wizardry, he knows how to make the personal, awesome for the rest of us.(I may have to edit this previous statement, something's wrong with the grammar, I am not as wizardly.) Very descriptive. Sometimes descriptive gets me bored, but this didn't. This streamofconsciousness would be a good idea for others to follow, for people to let loose their own streams.

A Fake History of 1987: When I first read the fake history, I laughed hysterically. Then came the audio, and it's swiftness made it even more humorous. Now the video as well!? Pyramid of rad right there.

Melanie:

I don't remember the exact date I met Arthur, but it was a Thursday. Or maybe it was a Wednesday. Really, either way, the date doesn't matter. That I remember the events perfect...

A rough cut but I wanted to make something to express how I felt about community because the thing I love most about HitRECord is that anyone can be a part of it. Everyone contributes to the community no matter who they are or what they can do. It is not everyday one finds a place like this and I am so happy I found HR.

HarperHippie's mom did some wonderful voiceover work on the RECord "Younger..." (based on RegularJOE's Tiny Story REmix "When I Was Younger.")

I wanted to bring that Tiny Story to life but had trouble finding video on the site for what I wanted to convey visually. So, unfortunately, I had to go digging over at archive.org. (don't get me wrong, I love archive.org. I'd just rather use video from hitRECord.)

Hopefully we can get some uploads of old home movies in a variety of formats from the community. it'd be great to have old footage in VHS, 8mm, or 16mm so these types of REmixes can be made with on-site footage. :)

I really loved this, so I decided to REmix. I used the lyrics 'crispyfuller' posted in a remark to the original and added some stuff of my own too. Hope you like it!

"You're a real piece of work kid. I offer you freedom and you throw it back at me like David's sling. So very rude." Just a kinda sci-fi villian that I made-up.

So, after a really wonderful audio response to my request yesterday for "A Fake History of 1987" voiceover samples, now comes the time to unleash the first version in what I hope will be a heavily REmixed RECord.

There's 20 or so "1987" readings (so far) and when it came time to select one for the first version it was insanely difficult. The diversity of the readings was amazing because everyone interpreted the story, and its telling, in such unique ways.

Some readings went pretty fast, others went at a slower pace. Some were absolutely deadpan while others sounded straight off an R-rated radio report.

After sampling each of the readings over the visuals I had compiled I decided that Day Glo's reading suited the story I had originally envisioned. But even that isn't entirely true because I always knew the reading itself would dictate the pacing, the shot selection, and the overall tone of the video.

Day Glo's reading jumped out at me because it sounded like a report you'd hear on BBC, but it also had an even flow throughout. He read at a consistent pace that maintained the same tone without drawing too much attention to any particular line. Even the profanity remained subtle and advanced the story without making me think too much about what I'd just heard.

I hope that makes sense.

Having said all of that, I will be uploading a second version with JUST THE VIDEO and short sample of iBrew's "Aunt Roy's Picnic" (which plays briefly over the title.) That way everyone can REmix the video with different readings.

The way I edited the video however is matched to Day Glo's reading, so a new edit will probably have to be done to match the pacing of someone else's voice. All the REsources are cited (including the public domain footage) so anyone can use those same videos to REmix the visuals.

Alright, enough rambling...

Oh, and I'll start a collaboration too. :)
