This week's RE-RECs... I had a TON of RECs this week, mostly because of the REELs... I had so much fun going through all of them and discovering hidden gems.

Covered in Hearts (Giving Hearts remix) by irradiatedsoup: I never would have though to REmix this vid/poem this way but it is WONDERFUL. Really, really touching.

life is but a dream by tori: So well done. Beside just that, though, I love the idea and theme behind this.

SuperheroJOE! by ayrabee: I feel a little egotistical RE-RECing this, but I LOVE it so much. Since I saw the picture, I had an idea in my head about what I wanted to do with it but my photoshopping skills are extremely limited. However, once I posted my (really) rough idea, ayrabee took it and made it into something beautiful and fun!

soft lightning by tonguecutsparrow: Just discovered this song and I LOVE, I mean LOVE it. What a fabulous, rockin' tune.

A Possession by MattConley: Another one I discovered from the REELs. This is a gorgeous photo. God, that man's face tells so many stories. It's just amazing.

Bankst with Remarks Vocal by tori: Another REEL find. This RECord is so much fun! It made me laugh out loud. I really hope HR goes to at least one of the film festivals this year (SXSW?:) so this kind of thing can happen again

the htiREfractal by fractaldust: This is amazing. Such a huge amount of hard work went into this and it turned out beautifully. She did such an awesome job of taking the concept of the Golden Ratio, hitRECord, RECords as REpetition, etc. and combined them all into one gorgeous image.

The REGULARITY (#36) by RegularJOE: I just had to include this one. I was, and continue to be, so happy that Joe is feeling a bit better and back on the site in a really active way. :)

Tiny Breakfast by Sparksee05: I love this story. I love that you have to think for a minute after reading it to "get it." Also, the icon is super cool.

Voyeurstic Owls by With Pencil in hand: These guys are so cute and funny! I'm loving the new influx of talent here!:)

(BTW... the image I used for the icon... I want one so bad! That thing is awesome. Too bad I just bought my Flip 3 months ago)

Happy holidays, hitRECord.

All resources should be accounted for now, so let me know if I've missed any.

Cheers <3

when I found katasul's "we were sailing the seas", I knew I wanted to make a makebelieve world where the little boys could sail off into dreamland in their little tin boat. (all the resources just fell into place so easily for this remix. hitRECord is a treasure trove.)

everything i touch turns to gold
everyone i love quickly gathers mold
and every joke i say quickly gets old
but this is my return to form

i've got only fifteen minutes
until this cloudburst drowns me out

everything i sing makes no sense
everything i write seems so pointless
everyone i know acknowledges it
but this is my return to form

i've got only fifteen minutes
until this cloudburst drowns me out

I encountered this homeless man in Philadelphia early one morning in March of 2009. He was kind, compassionate, and only had one real possession: an old radio.

He was kind enough to be allow me to photograph him. When he asked what he should do I suggested he pick up the radio. It was the way he looked at it that will always stay with me. I gave him whatever cash I had on me at the time and never saw him again.

This picture will forever haunt me.

So, at our Remarks presentation last night, we asked the audience to help us out with the vocals for Banksy. Two guys volunteered & RECording commenced. This was the result!

Recordfractal
this is quite possibly the most horrifically nerdy thing ever in creation, but here goes - layla pointed out to me that RECords, LIKE FRACTALS, are methods of REpetition, so of course I just HAD to make a hitRECord fractal. but then Joe mentioned liking phi (the second-best number ever!) so I made this spiral approximate the Golden Spiral using phi (= 1.618033...) and a Golden RECtangle I constructed from scratch. I also copy-pasted and rescaled each and every one of those little RECords, no joke. I may be permanently cross-eyed now, but I hope you guys like it :)

Hello again everyone...
Been a little while since my last REgularity and although I am not up to my full Regular self I really want to start focusing on some projects with you.

Firstly, lets remix fajigajiga's "The Anglerpod Votes" beautiful short animation piece into a brand spanking new short film.
Writers, write a story based on the imagery and actions of the anglerpod. Video Editors, lets RECut the original into a whole new visual narrative. Find out more at the collaboration I started here at http://hitrecord.org/records/269518

Next and most immediate, Jared, Marke and I have decided to make a "Tiny Book of Tiny Stories" to sell at our RECord store! We can keep writing and illustrating more tiny stories if you like, but what we really need is some solid curation of the ones that are already written. Lets go through wirrow's collaboration of Tiny Stories http://hitrecord.org/records/56986
and make an album of the one's that we believe should be in this beautiful book (text and images only). Then we will submit our album of Tiny Stories RECommendations to Marke's collaboration "Tiny Book of Tiny Stories. http://hitrecord.org/records/269395

Finally I just want to mention, there's been lots of great work happening around here while I've been away. It'll take me a while to catch up, but I'll get there. Particularly, the "saving stitchtown" collaboration is looking great, can't wait to get more involved myself.

Okay, it'll be a bit more time before I get back to weekly Regularity videos, and in the meantime, much thanks for all the love and support from this whole community.

Thanks again <3
J

One day before breakfast, an orange rolled off the counter and escaped its fate, bouncing happily through the kitchen door.

Filled with hope, the egg followed.

Okay, so this is an animatic that I did last semester and I never got a chance to book time in the recording booth before summer came. I am back now but the Animators have booked them up for thesis. So! I was wondering if there were any brave souls out there who would record sound for me. The sounds im looking for are a little..racy but not so over the top that I could use some of the *ehem* naughtier sound files you can find online.

The short is about two owls..a male and a female. They are sitting happily one night when all of a sudden they are awoken by a loud moan/gasp! They decide to ignore it and go back to sleep. Again it happens this time louder...more racy? They realize what is making all that noise when they peer through the window. It is a couple having in the throws of passion. *So far im thinking giggles, gasps, moans..that sort of thing..nothing pornographic though. I want the sounds to escalate. So there are 3 separate moans. The last one is right before they blush with the realization. I was also thinking of adding light summer crickets in the opening.* So while trying to ignore what they are seeing they become suddenly more aware of each other...and more attracted ;p So at the end right before the get to kiss the couple interrupts them and it turns full circle with the humans being the voyeurs.

I am still planning on revisiting a few frames. The last one with the couple is obviously still rough.

Sorry if this was a little long winded and thorough...I can just hear the sounds in my head so I try to make it more clear. If you have any questions or suggestions let me know!
