1. "Progress Report - I'm Yours (feat. Mayaeni)" (EddieLogix) - This rap song from EddieLogix (who has a superb hitRECord hip-hop resume) feels like a throwback track to the days of underground urban cassette tapes. It's a bit uptempo and has a summertime vibe to it, eclipsed by the really cool chorus ("If I could just... and you could just...")

2. "The gathering..." (belcath1981) - Admittedly I haven't delved too far into the world of the Shadow People, but a few RECords have jumped out at me. This one by belcath1981 really stands out because it really utilizes the black and white tones with a really nice arrangement of silhouetted characters and objects. Potent in all regards, this RECord really makes me ask "So, what are these characters all about?"

3. "The Hypnotist's Eye (short)" (crackedhands) - Arranging high-caliber sounds can be a tough undertaking. You've got levels, pitch, and of course rhythm to calculate. crackedhands really toys with the senses in a jarring way with this RECord, finding the balance of sounds that all come together to make for a speaker-rattling track. The transition to a keyboard-type beat about halfway through really drives the remainder of the song home.

4. "Chill. Relax. Cruise." (Mahortz) - As a companion piece to "The Hypnotist's Eye (short)" this beat by Mahortz is tame. That being said, it really is true to its title. It's got that West Coast feel to it that starts to incorporate guitars along the way. But I like the opening bars the most because it's stripped down to less instruments and really captures a feeling of smoothness.

5. "My Response" (catsolen) - A beautifully simple and imaginative image from Cat. I think we're all supposed to interpret this however we'd like, but only after smirking first.

6. "I Have....NO CATS." (tonguecutsparrow) - tcs has really been broadening his horizons as a musician over the past few months. I often go back to his earlier stuff and revel in the range he's always had as an artist. But this RECord sort of puts the icing on the cake when it comes to his song-making talents. Packed with collaborative spirit, sampled REsources, and pure fun, it's representative of how music is quite the creative experience.

7. "Endless." (Scarlet) - Speaking from my own point of view I can say that it's often tempting to just go diving into all the art on hitRECord and just grab as many things that seem like they go together, and then try and make something new out of everything you've accumulated. But often finding just a few REsources and allowing them to fow together more naturally can work just as well (if not better.) Scarlet writes that "Endless." is a "super simple video" and I'd agree. But the music of Chase_Horseman has such a peacefulness to it that a simple lay-out of video and images works the best. There's just something about this REmix that put me at ease and slowed everything around me down for a little while. I like the repetetive boat and how that accompanies the looping lyrics, and as a whole this RECord is a nice departure from reality.

8. "I Love My Dad." (HelloLindsayyyyyy) - This is an example of why it's important to RECord things. Because then you get to capture the wonderful things that the people that matter most to you express.

9. "HRO Theatre" (Melanne) - We're trying to make this kind of virtual hitRECord theatre that Melanne REmixed into a reality over in the "REmix Theatre Presents..." collaboration. Not only does this REmix feature some solid marquee Photoshopping, but Melanne has added in some other elements of the collaboration into the environment (including Victor Von Vannigan) that add to its authenticity.I'm really excited that Melanne is one of the chief collaborators on this project because she keeps finding new ways to put her own stamp on the concept as the structure of it all continues to come together.

10. "silhouettes in special hats" (tori) - A wonderful little image from Sundance that I wanted to RE-RECommend because it's a lovely picture.

lyrics:

i ain't got a fuckin' cat.

i have no cats

i got no kitty litter

i have no cats

i have no ball of yarn

i have no cats

do you see a fuckin' cat?

i have no cats

do you see a fuckin' cat?

I don't think so.

okay.

i admit it.

i have some cats.

but don't judge me!

they're my best friends!

oh i have some cats!

oh i may have some cats!

meowmeowmeowmeow

i have some cats

i don't know what they're doin'

i have some cats

they follow me into the bathroom

For Ally. I hope you enjoy it just as much as I enjoyed making it in your honor.

Thanks to all the people who I have resourced below for their wonderful meows, both real and simulated....and thanks again to Rob for being the conductor of the meow symphonies.

Alpal...who said to me, in no uncertain terms, that she has no cats. (and that she wasn't going to fart.)

This is a super simple video brought on by the thought that dreams are perpetual. The little boat is forever on the move. Plus, I love that little animation. Think I got all my Resources. Lemme know if you think otherwise :)
