If you will only ever read one thing I write, please make it this, because I have some amazing RECords here (by other people, of course!) that deserve your attention. They're all text (except for a surprise at the end), because text RECords are often skipped over, which they SHOULDN'T BE, since they are VITAL to the REmixing process, and provide the inspiration we need to cREate insanely cool things.
(I really think some of this stuff lays the groundwork for some potential short film candidates, so please, do enjoy!)
GENERAL TEXT RECOMMENDATIONS:
Hungover: A Short Screenplay by Reverie
Reverie's screenplays are perfection. They are very underrated and overlooked, in my opinion, and I really do beg you all to give them a chance, because they have so much potential! They are humorous little glimpses into the lives of various couples and friends. This is her latest and I adore her dry sense of humor. Mostly, what I love about her screenplays is how perfectly realistic they are, how this could easily be a day in the life of two ordinary people. It's one thing that, in my opinion, makes her screenplays EXTRA-ordinary. Much love to you, Reverie : ) Keep up the great work!
future revenge by tori
This is a remarkable piece of writing. It is honest and heartbreaking and inspiring yet terrifying, it is a look at raw pain and insecurity and the loneliness that often creeps into all of our hearts. There isn't very much more I can say about this RECord, not because it doesn't deserve more praise but because it hits so close to home that I'm afraid to say it. But thank you, tori, for sharing this amazing text RECord with us. You are lovely!
manifesto of sorts by Day Glo
This is a chilling, powerful, and disturbing piece of writing, I couldn't look away from it as I read it for the first time. I think it has a lot of REmixing potential - let's get some visuals done for this terrifying beast, perhaps an animation to accompany a voiceover of this. This is a very impressive manifesto (of sorts), Day Glo!
C - Carbon by JulesKD
I was thrilled to see a submission to my new collab from Jules, the writer (and fellow math/science nerd). I am loving all of the tiny atomic stories that have been submitted so far, this one here is one of my favorites. Thanks for the laugh, Jules :D
SHADOW COLLAB TEXT RECOMMENDATIONS
Shadow People Poem by Metaphorest
This is an wonderfully imaginative and whimsical poem about our beloved shadow creatures. Of course, it's no surprise that it comes from one of my favorite writers here, the lovely Meta! I've reread this so many times, because it gets me so excited to delve into the shadow world, and the last line always gives me chills. Meta, as always you astound me with your writing!
Ombra and unlikely friends by darkleopardess
This is WONDERFUL! I can't tell you how much I want this to be the plot of our animated shadow film. In it, Ombra (our main character, a midlight) wants to see the sun, and because of his controversial desires he becomes an outCAST, shunned by society. In his loneliness, he happens upon a Gloam and the two of them form an "unlikely friendship," bonding over their similar predicaments. Along the way, they befriend a Longray and a Noonday, and the four of them go on a quest to bring Ombra closer to the sun, while realizing that they share similarities despite their different classes. An inspiring tale, in my opinion! Excuse my terrible paraphrasing, but darkleopardess I am SO glad you posted this idea up for us to build on.
Ombra and the Shadow Caste by atlas
This is an excellent beginning to our story. Here, we meet Ombra and see how his life is, how he yearns for the sun and anxiously awaits news from a Longray acquaintance, whose stories do nothing to quell his thirst. Let's write a continuation to this! It could easily fit the plot darkleopardess suggested above. Nice work, atlas :)
Flick, the Picture Gloam by seldelaterre
As you can see, I'm all about building up our characters - here is the perfect candidate for the Gloam in our story! Sel paints a lovely picture for us of poor Flick, a Gloam who tries tries tries to change things in the caste system but can't, an almost pathetic, pitiable little character whom we can't help but feel sad for. Flick needs some friends, stat, someone to listen to her and believe her and want to help her. Seems like Ombra might be interested, since he too is on his way to changing the caste system... Thanks for creating this marvelous character, Sel!
AND ONE VERY SPECIAL NON-TEXT RECOMMENDATION
Chalkboard SEX. by HelloLindsayyyyyy
I'm sure we all know by now that Lindsay is nothing short of a video-editing GODDESS, but this -- this takes the cake, of everything she's done so far. This is exactly what I needed to see, and exactly what YOU need to see, RIGHT NOW! Everyone needs to hear this message and drill it deep into their heads. This is probably one of the most inspiring things I've seen on HR thus far. Hey YOU! Yes, YOU! SEX!!! Okay, SPOILER ALERT: no one actually gets laid during the duration of this video, but the message behind it? Tell it to your friends and love interests, and you will most definitely get some action! Okay okay, I'm being silly now, but in all seriousness, you will get laid this is some good stuff, and you NEED to see it, RIGHT NOW. Lindsay, I adore you <3

I started out thinking of all the depressing places a Gloam could spend its time and ended up making this plucky little activist. I'd like to continue her story, but this is all we have for now.... |

I really liked Attilee's idea of a Midlight trying to see the sun and it made me think of a possible plot for the story. Ombra begins to express his idea for seeing the sun but due to the caste ... |

One time when I was half asleep in History, the teacher shouted: "SEX!" And it made me lift my head up. Then he explained that most people will generally react to the word, and if you say it, others will start paying attention to your conversation.
So I added that little piece of learned knowledge in to my chalkboard stop motion. Because I have something to tell you. :)
Feeling uninspired? Draw on something blank! I learned that from xobreexo. <3 [also, I feel like this bad boy needs some sound effects. I picture sherbetheads "I feel like a baby kitten" audio to go over the half a second stick sex scene. Any takers?)
