Just a place to store all my hearted audio RECords for easy access.
Metaphorest beautiful poem put to music. The guitar, vocals, cello and shaker were done by myself and the other shaker and the drum was done by my brother Dougie Mackie aka Fameless. Producer: Dougie Mackie Recorded through a radio Mic I couldnt find a shaker around the house so I made one out of a medicine bottle, cocoa pops and sugar. The drum was a big cardboard tub with a plastic lid. haha. Seems really odd. If anyone wants to put a harmony on top you are more than welcome!
first track on album 'spilt milk', but copyright shmoppyrights. right? rights.
and someone asked for the lyrics:
drag your feet, keep your life strapped to your shoulders.
if you don't carve your age into your belt, you wont get any older
it's a mixed up masquerade, a penniless arcade
every face a frown, oh what a crazy town
hang your head, they'll steal the toes right off of your feet
you're lucky to count all ten, when you're living on the street
its a story thats been told, a body thats been sold
'round and around and around. oh what a crazy town
(see) joy around here comes in a little pink balloon
and if you got out of here yesterday it wouldn't be too soon
it's a cardboard palisade, a pocket change brigade
every way is down. oh what a crazy town
PLEASE LISTEN TO THE RE-RECORDED EXTENDED VERSION OF THIS SONG!

Inspiration hit me today so I hit record.
this is a song a song a song i made :D
My first official Accordion Record! Written 1/11/11
If you like this, please check out version 2 that I recently recorded. http://hitrecord.org/records/629281
Here is audio taken of my unborn baby's heartbeat. It beats at about 140 beats a minute (it takes a few seconds to get to the actual heartbeat in this audio clip.)
It's a life-changing experience to hear this for the first time and it's such an amazing sound.
Had this tune in my head for ages and Joe's words fit perfectly. Et voila! Kept it simple so do add whistles and bells and voices as well!
And happy pre-birthday Joe! <3
It's good to be singing with you again Sarah!
I wrote this weeks ago and recorded it recently only to find that I didn't know how I felt about it. After listening to it for a while I decided to post it. The last 30 seconds are my favorite.
(I changed my mind on what to name the song. It was called That Mysterious Woman first but not it's called The Puppeteer)
I saw joe's poem this afternoon and put this together. I'd love it if people would sing along to the chorus and make a big old drunk sing along. After we get a bunch of voices, I will mix them in (good or bad so anyone should do it!) Hope you enjoy!
How strange it is to record drunk-style vocals at 10 in the morning.
I hope you enjoy the many face of Man With Hat Drunkenly Singing.
Note: Not actually drunk. If you want the real experience, come to Seattle and buy me a drink or two.
More musical layers to come. Banjo? Highly likely.
My first bit of instrument music made with the Shadow Beings in mind. I imagined midlights and noondays welcoming the day, with possibly an adventure? Hmm... I'm still thinking of themes and motifs, but this is a good foot to start on.
I end the piece with a shift... as the sun sets, and we make into the "Gloam" section, perhaps?
<3
Vocals solo as requested! :)
So I fiiiiinally got a chance to add some harmonies to Lizzie's awesome song - my recording set up isnt ideal and I didnt have much time and excuses excuses :) Hope you don't hate it Lizzie :)
This should ring some definite bells!
Hey all, this is a little song I recorded yesterday using Metaphorests lovely lyrics.
The mix is a bit raw, my reverb plugin isnt working so this a rough edit, hopefully get up the properly mixed version soon :) Hope you all enjoy!
I sold my heart for a weekend in Reno
Gambled my life away in the casino
Choked on wine and moonshine
On the way to American Scrimp N' Save
Travelled back to dine with a teller
Slip, slide, then you ride
Thoughts collide like ice
Slip, slide, then you ride
Thoughts collide like ice
Went to the morgue to
get a new transplant
I took a dead man's heart
And here I stand
Can I take a photo with the band? (x4 measures)

I'm so sorry tokayo, this is what I meant to post.
I've been working on this for over a week, and it kills my right hand every time I play it. It's a good kind of pain though :)
This is a more dramatic one I recorded today 01/28/11
lava_tornado released a great rockin instrumental called Project 26. Then Babbish sung her sun baked and neon lit lyrics onto it. Here, I just added some backing vox.
So here is my first contribution to the Shadow People collab. This is what came to mind when I pictured Ombra witnessing his first sunset, but if you think it would work better for something else, use it for whatever :) I had fun messing around with synth sounds for this one!
Taking Wirrow's advice I created this, with some added goodies :)

"again by heart"
is where you'll find our law and order
'cause we respect eachother
and we respect eachother's art
we'll be doin' it 'till the end,
like we been doin' it from the start,
collaboration
amongst every single nation
without no hesitation
'cause we see the whole equation
ain't no boundaries
and if you don't like how it's sounding,
you just fix it, re-mix it, turn it up and twist it,
We're all equal here and there's nothing to distinguish
it's reward in itself to know you're working with a genius
and chances are that the genius might be you.
genius among genius it runs rampant in our crew.
just look around
it's everywhere you look
talent so huge
we put it in a tiny book
we're like a family
we go through our ups and downs
but through the thick and thin
we will always be around

ain't no rules dear
just be clear
that what you did is your shit,

and now we do productions and other live functions
and we don't need any type of your legal injunctions
so make sure what you contribute is original
it's critical when we're trying to give credit to
the right people from all the right places,

per Filmpunk and Marionette's suggestion this song needs a hook on that chorus part. any takers? also Lindsay's rap can be overlapped and remixed with the new chorus on newer versions. i will link it as a resource here.
it's my first song with my new midi keyboard.
it'll get better. i hope.
i am super excited for this!
kind of a war song

When I’m caught out in the rainstorm
When I’m weary and alone
Wrap me tightly, keep my bones warm
Give me shelter, take me home
When I’m drowning in the dark days
When I’m flooded with regret
And the sorrow sends me sideways
Give me shelter from the wet
When I’m sinking into puddles
Soaking nearly to the skin
Wallowing in all my muddles
Whisper to me, take me in
Neath the trees and under awnings
In the archways and the caves
Clouds reveal a new sun dawning
And a light that softly saves
Every puddle is a mirror
Every raindrop is a test
Each downpour can draw you nearer
Or still further from your best
When I’m caught out in a rainstorm
When I’m weary and alone
Wrap me tightly, keep my bones warm
Give me shelter, take me home
This isn't really what I had in mind when I was first inspired to play with this piece. But I was somehow pulled in this direction, and since it felt like it was cooking, I took advantage of the opportunity to just have fun with it...As much as it's kinda unexpected dress in which to drape such a dark lyric.
The ideas are pretty well formed, but it's by no means "done". Like, it feels "over" before it should be, IMO...Despite the long ambient section at the end.
I'm putting it out today because I'm not sure I'll be able to spend more time with it in the next few days, and I might forget to otherwise : ) So yeah: Feel free to add new sections, parts, or arrange the parts I've created differently.
I'll be putting up stems shortly. Everything has been conformed to a consistent tempo, and even the non-drum part at the end is at tempo should you care to use it, so it should offer lots of possibilities.
A little guitar loop that I can't think of much to do with.
Metaphorest wrote it and sang it; the lass writes in French too? She's a regular Nabokov! Suzyrene played magnificent piano. Today Madrond101 resurrected in true french form with his accordion, which inspired themetafictionist to sing a harmony part, which has inspired me to sing this.
I think it probably sounds a bit too much like ol' Tom. En plus, mon français peux être plus claire. Mais putain, c'est écrit par une irelandaise alors merde.
Sung by the wonderful Metaphorest, and beautiful piano playing by Suzyrene. Todd68976 suggested that I add accordion to this lovely song, and so I did with much joy :)
Suzyrene made an amazing piano accompaniment to one of my old songs so I sang along with it! Apologies for the dodgy pronunciation/grammar etc :)
Added some fiddle and mandolin. yep.
When I was done writing these words, (finished it on my birthday) it seemed to me like a sort of tavern sing-along. So here's the bottom layer. Now I'd love to hear what y'all add to it.
Sing along with the chorus! Or sing along with any part of it you see fit. Play along on another guitar. Acoustic, electric, the chords are just the same old ones: G C D and Em. It definitely needs bass for at least part of it. Perhaps a drum set, although I think even more fitting would be less formal percussion. Clink bottles together, stamp your feet, knock on wood, etc. And who knows what else? Piano, fiddle, Moogs, shit, the more the merrier.
When you upload your new layer, make sure you release it as an isolated stem (in other words, by itself without any other records mixed in), so we can remix it together with all the others. Here I've released a full version as an MP3 file for listening, and also uploaded a ZIP file with stems. So, if you want us to listen to your addition in combination with all the others, you can upload that version, just make sure to also upload the isolated stem(s), either as audio files or a ZIP file.
Also, when I first wrote this and released the lyrics, and then a GarageBand recording of it, I was happy to see that quite a few hitRECorders recorded various versions of their own. LizzieMackie and Metaphorest made a beautiful one, as did TongueCutSparrow and others too. So here I hope to start a definitive bottom layer for the purposes of mass sing-along, but that doesn't mean those other excellent versions will be forgotten :o)
