Oh gosh, my first Re-Recs, here's to hoping I do this right. (And this is slightly anal-retentively organized because that's just how I roll.)
Images, etc.
Tanagrams Font by rejjie - I like this for two reasons. One, I am a font nerd. (No, really, I actually took a two-hour class on fonts once for fun. Serifs are interesting, okay.) I spend kind of ridiculous amounts of time going through free font websites, and this idea was so unique and perfectly genius I couldn't heart it fast enough. Two - nostalgia. Tanagrams were my mom's distract-the-children technique for when food was taking forever to come in a restaurant. And may I say, for the record, that triangles are a lot trickier than you think they are.
Shivering Clouds by gwy - Can't go without recommending something by my strudel! I had the great pleasure of knowing meeting gwy before hitRECord, and so when signed up for hitRECord in August but was far too intimidated to post anything, it was a mixture of her success here and flat-out pushing that made me start putting stuff up. Thank you, darling. <3
I love all of gwy's whimsical little doodles, but I think this one is my favorite, because those clouds are just so gosh-darn cute.
Peli-cat-scan by Crescendo - I always feel like there's some sort of joke besides the obvious that I'm missing on these pelican/pelican't things, which tends to hamper my enjoyment, but this one made me stop and go "oh!" because it's just so clever. Also, I've been doodling around Photoshop for years, and I am boggled by the skill it must have taken to get those CAT scans to somehow both look like a pelican and then! As if that weren't enough! To morph into a cat's muzzle! Genius.
Relationships by sexymoustache - This makes me giggle every single time I see it. Also, feel kind of guilty about eating fruit, not gonna lie.
If this were a t-shirt, I'd wear it all the time. Hint, hint.
Music
Nouveau Départ by Madrond101 - Amélie is my favorite movie of all time and I play the soundtrack constantly. Which is why it's no surprise that I love love love love love all of Madrond101's music, but this one especially. I am unsure how much it would cost to get him to follow me around and provide the soundtrack to my life, but I would very likely be willing to pay it.
Wintersleep Violin REmix by michellek - This song just makes me want to cry, it's so evocative and lovely. It's like wrapping yourself up in a blanket and getting choked up and horribly nostalgic and feels like you're at a wedding all at the same time. I'm particularly fond of this version because ot is my fervent belief that almost every song is improved by strings.
Text
Salt as Quaint: Walked the Pavements by comprehensionandsecrecy - I am a really obnoxious person when it comes to poetry. Like, really, really obnoxious. I am picky and critical and I can't stand if it rhymes and yeah, I'm really, really awful. I know I'm awful. But the point is, I'm awful, and I love this poem. It's gritty and depressing and brutally lovely.
Tiny Breakfast by Sparksee05 - There are a lot of really magnificent tiny stories on this site, but this is the one I come back to the most. It makes me wince, and chuckle, and then wince again, and then laugh and feel awful about it. I think what I like the most about it is you go in thinking it's going to be sort of whimsical and fluffy, and then you realize it's got layers and could actually be a really tragic metaphor. And the best part is, you could totally read it either way, depending on you mood, and I'm not sure either way would be wrong.
Consider the Elephant by RedHeadMonster - okay, I just have to do the teeniest, tiniest bit of self-promotion because this essay is my baby. I love this essay. It is like my love letter to writing and creativity and, indirectly, hitRECord, and it's probably one of my favorite things I've ever written. I know it looks long and because of that, a lot of people click away, but just do me a favor and actually read it, okay? Even if you hate it, it's only six pages. We all read books we hated in high school that were way, way longer than that.
I will make you all a deal. If you are patient and read through to the end and think that it was a total waste of your time and not worth sticking around, come back to this album and leave a comment telling me so, and I will owe you one hand-written apology. And I'll make it a really nice one, too.

One day before breakfast, an orange rolled off the counter and escaped its fate, bouncing happily through the kitchen door.
Filled with hope, the egg followed. |

My twin brother is studying to be a scientist. What sort of scientist, I can't quite tell you. All I know is that it has to do with very teeny-tiny things, and he's extremely concerned with ho... |
