mostly vintage buttons (a hitRECord pin snuck it's way on there too, as did several buttons of hR symbols I made out of shrink plastic, and the big circle is several layers of sheer red fabrics I sewed together). I also designed and sewed the skirt (stretchy corduroy).
The pics were taken by my friend deb, who I am trying to get to join hR:)

I dapple in design in what little free time I have, and this is the first dress I have made. I'm not all that great at sewing, so the entire thing is made out of paper (mostly newspaper), that way I could glue everything together. There is an upside-down picture of a cat on the butt that I love and find really quirky (you can't see it in this picture). If anyone can use this, be my guest, I just wanted to share because I'm really proud of it! <3
P.S. It can be worn! There is a zipper on the side, and I made it to fit one of my friends so she can model for me
This is a photo shoot I did over summer based on current trends in the fashion world. Florals are always in during spring/summer and my stylist went all out making the collars herself!
I've had a great response for this work, there is a full series which I do hope to one day turn into a book (when I have the money)
This project was based upon the mysterious internal clock of the gregarious species of bamboo. This variety of bamboo has an elusive blossoming pattern, that varies between every twenty to hundred and twenty years. A bamboo with the same "mother" or origin plant as another bamboo will both flower at the same time, despite differing environmental factors. So this is to say, a bamboo plant in London will blossom 48 years down the road at the exact same interval as one in China. While bamboo is one of the fastest growing resources, when it blossoms, it dies rather abruptly because its lifespan is so unforseeable. While in this process the bamboo gnerally creates a fertile seed, the dropped seedling matter attracts rodents. Thus, when a bamboo plant starts to flower it generally seen as a bad omen.
I attempted to generalize and represent this event with unfurling pods distributed at different areas of the dress. There are sister pods amongst them, where their full growth extension is a clone of one another but come to a halt once a seed is produced. These pods can then be unraveled and bunched back into the pockets, displaying this continuous cycle.
I crocheted the whole dress without any patterns to follow/first time using a dress form/I made it in about a week, so pardon any construction mistakes!
The first time I met my good friend, Leo. We both entered the costume contest on our company's year-end party last December 2010. Guess what? I won Most Unique, because I was the only one wearing this dress among the rest ^^ Now I do know how tiring it is to pose and smile for the cameras. Instant celebrity that night..urgh.
Anyway, I just wanted to share this photo with you guys. We were just thrilled on how the photographer loved our spontaneous poses, and alas, here's one of the results.
