I've made a resolution to make this an every-other-weekly thing. I will keep up with it, gosh darn it. In fact, I was so determined to do so that I accidentally jumped the gun and thought re-rec day was Friday, not Sunday. Which is just as well, as I'll be busy Sunday. And, like I told a bunch of tinychatters when they reminded me, I'm Jewish. We have a history of doing things on Friday nights when everyone else does them on Sundays.
Thank you, thank you! I'll be here all night.
As always, anally organized, because that's how I roll.
Images:
Happy Gum Ball Machine by Curlan - Seriously, I recommend you go look at all of curlan's stuff. It's all stupidly, ridiculously adorable. Choosing just one was very difficult, but this on made me giggle the most, so arbitrarily, I choose this one. Tiny happy gumball!
Squid Balloon by Paulo - Another new fantastic artist who I can't wait to see more from. Look at this! It's so weird and yet so adorable. In case you can't tell, adorable is the easiest way to gain my affection.
Spaceforest by Patefilo - Yet another new artist! I really love how stylized this is, and it's a gorgeous and fascinating angle. I love the coloring job on this, too.
Silent Circling of Wings (Remix) by aglow - I adore the original of this and all of feanne's drawings, but I'm especially fond of what aglow has done to re-mix this. It's a very different style from the usual hitRECord logos, and I quite like the variety.
Text:
kaos by VetusAnimus - I've said before I'm very hard to please with poetry, but this poem just aches. It aches so much I feel almost like I can touch it. And it's absolutely gorgeous.
Songs:
Head West by Chase_Horseman - The first time I heard this, I knew it was good because my first thought was "he can't possibly have made that, he just stole it from my iTunes library! At the very least, he recorded it in a professional studio and stuff!" But dang, yo, it's so good.
And Sleep by Seldeterre - I have this playlist on my iTunes called "Covers" which has a sub-section in my brain entitled "...that I like more than the original". This would be on that playlist. Sel's version is much more stripped-down and sweet than Day Glo's original - which is still good! I'm just a stripped-down sort of girl.
...that sounded way dirtier than I intended it to.
Merch:
Heart Balloon Onesie by Rejie - I know it's impolitic to chose your favorite out of an album you're curating, but this is so my favorite. Just look at it! I love the green color and I'm a huge fan of the illustration used - if anyone wanted to put it on a t-shirt I'd enjoy that, hint hint hint.
A song about parting.
Written/Performed/RECorded by Chase Horseman
This is a cover of Day_Glo's glorious ditty. I just wanted to sing it and add a little...salt.
You go, Day Glo! Four for you, Day Glo!
Like everything I make, it's better with headphones.
Even my text records are better with headphones.
Also don't mind the end. I played for too long and just kind of derped out chords.
