I tried to stick to my previous format of two for each catagory, but it just didn't work this week. AND I have 11 not 10. Sorry, too much good work!:)
Image
left brain/right brain by fractaldust - Love what fractaldust did here... it's such a beautiful, symmetrical image and I love the passion she feels for exploring the left brain's virtues:)
buster keaton by via - I really like everything about this image... from the colors to the style to the facial expression. Just really nice work.
Rain in the mountains by Monika Dekowska - I always think it' so great when an image can make me feel something deep within my heart. This piece does that for me. It makes me feel loneliness and sorrow and loss. Beautiful composition.
Audio
Make Space for Me w/Bass by jeffpeff - one of the things I love the most about hitRECord is nothing is every done. This is a song by lizziemackie from over a year ago and it's suddenly found new life and is being recycled into amazing RECords. This one if my favorite so far. The bass makes it sound complete.
Words We're Wailing (Robo Bar REmix II) by Robo_J - Robo_J has done a great job mixing in a lot of voices on this to really make it sound like we're all in the same roomsinging together (wouldn't that be great?:). From a discussion between him and wirrow in Tiny Chat I gathered this is really hard to do? Whatever the tech side of it is, I think it came out wonderfully. Can't wait to hear further versions with more voices!
Metaphorest's Wanderer by PASIV There's not much I can say about this aside from it's amazingly gorgeous. I just love it.
joe signing loop by via - When I first watched the raw footage of RegularJOE signing the checks, I commented that at the parts when Joe was just signing and not speaking, the rhythm of signing and flipping paper sounded really cool. Several other people agree and voila! via made it happen:) I love, love, love finding rhythms in every day things. It makes me really happy (which is why I'm often doing little tap combinations to things like the copy machine at work... copy machines have great rhythms BTW). I hope some fabulous music mixer (ahem, Haus_of_Glitch??) can make something with this.
Video
A Day In My Life by doverpeak - doverpeak did a wonderful job with this video. A great concept and very well put together. Also it reminded me of this great collab that I definitely want to do something for (and encourage people to also participate:)
A BRICkord by r_taylor - Love what r_taylor did with the vocals here. Just a really, really cool semi-abstract RECord.
Text
uprooted by amysz - I always enjoy amysz's writing style and this is no exception. Just like I said earlier about Mokia Dekowska's image, I love when text can make me feel deeply. This stirs a lot of restlessness in me.
Collab
Telephone by tori - I've RE-RECed this before and I'm going to do it again. Because I think it's a brilliant idea for a collab we can all get involved in. But we need an initial script/idea. Writers!! Help!:)
i painted this as a response to an image that's been floating around tumblr: http://tumblr.com/xty1l7h49o. it has over 100,000 notes and every time i see it i want to smash things.
somehow, it manages to make the left brain look dull and uninteresting. well, as someone who relies on her left brain more than anything and manages to stay relatively interesting, i say: fuck that! here's my take on the left brain vs right brain argument. i'm happy to say that i utilized both sides of my brain while creating this image, and i wouldn't have it any other way. take that, tumblr! : )
as they say, two heads are better than one, and by extension, two sides of a brain are far superior to just one or the other.
again by heart and by BOTH sides of the brain~
<3
I added a bass track. This is a beautiful song : )
REmix of Joe's original RECord, featuring myself with Dusty, Amy, Unusual Suspect, KittyPimms and Ginella.
this is the FIRST version for the collab. this isn't the "final" (technically, there is no final version, haha). But I will add more contributions as I get to them. I just downloaded Joe's original stems, so I will get to work mixing those along with new added vocals.
Many wonderful thanks to those to added their voices to the song. Did my best to mix everybody in there. Hope you enjoy
ok, kids, for your REmixing pleasure... i grabbed one of the segments of joe putting his signature on the checks, looped it, then asked my sound engineer sweetie-pie to try and remove some ambient computer noise. of course he couldn't resist playing! and this is the snazzed-up result. pretty fun! & hopefully useful to you music monsters out there. <3
My contribution to fraeulein's "REC your day" Collaboration.
Also, my second video. <3
Listening to RECorderBelle's audio immediately made me think of the huge pile of bricks in our back garden. I remixed the original audio and, uh, filmed some bricks! :) unfortunately my best animation segment got corrupted and my camera ran out of battery before I got enough shots so I may have another go at this and reRECord it - Rachel. p.s. I'm going to be dreaming about bricks tonight.
