Just got a new mp3 player, one that has a slot for microSD cards. So I can put my other music on the cards and devote the internal memory 100% to hitRECord music! There's so much great music here, I'm not sure the 4GB will be enough. :)

Anyway, I thought I'd make an album here of everything I download to my mp3 player, for two reasons: First, the artists should know their work is being enjoyed! And second, that way I don't have to store back-up files; if anything happens to the player or any tracks on it, I can just re-download them from this one handy spot.

Am I missing a favorite of yours? Recommendations are welcome! And it goes without saying that this album will grow and grow and grow...

this is a rough draft of a song that i'm working on, i'm not the best at recording yet. =)

lyrics go:
i've been going in circles
with you in the center
i was burnt by the fall
i was burnt by the fall
ran your hair through my fingers
the haunt of it lingered
i was burnt by the fall
i was burnt by the fall
I buried all traces of you in the woods
for the animals and insects to sift through
they'll find you in pieces
if they find you at all
i wrote your name in a circle
put a lock of your hair in the middle
and i burned it all
i burned it all
i fanned the smoke with my fingers
making sure just ashes lingered
and i burned it all
i burned it all
I buried all traces of you in the woods
for the animals and insects to sift through
they'll find you in pieces
if they find you at all
i took your
spell off of me
i washed my hands
of our synergy
i loved you to pieces
i took your
spell off of me
i cut the
strings of your memory
i loved you to pieces

I tried to change cello part a little. Not sure if it is enough dramatic, but it's obviously better;)
It's cello parts and vocals (and there is still big empty space in the begining, sorry). If it's good enough I will upload midis, if it isn't, I'll try harder:)

This is a step up from my earlier mix in terms of clarity, balance, and drive. I added an additional drum kit in the climax to push the beat, and various EQ, pan and mix tweaks. I have created stereo audio tracks for each of the parts and put them in a zip file which I will attach to this record. FYI, I figure I have 16-20 hours into this project. I look forward to hearing what you think.

This is my final version of Half of Me.

I want to thank everyone who worked so hard on this song, even those of you who's contributions I didn't use, it meant so much to me that you took the time to try and help. I tried to put as many parts in as I could, it just started to get muddled for me at a certain point so that I had to weed it down until I got this final product.
It was very hard for me to do that, especially with xoSasha, macjames61 and SpectrumCJ because I really liked what you guys did, I just couldn't (with my limited expertise) make it work.
So again please don't take it personal if I didn't use you...I loved all the contributions!

a special thanks to hedge, braun22, macjames6, shadowstorm88, and venns who have been with this project since the first day I uploaded it and have spent countless hours tweeking and playing around.

As far as the arrangement, it couldn't have happened without hedge's instrumentation which I used as the guideline for the song, so
thank you thank you thank you!!
also to IlliterateWriter and michellek for the incredibly beautiful violin parts, to Braun22 for being endlessly patient with me and making the bass to my specifications, to ladyAdelaide for the gorgeous piano, to DoctorWorth whose guitar parts I loved and Visitor for giving me the guidelines for the guitar parts I wanted.

AND an extra special thanks to RegularJoe who not only created this incredible website for me and all of you to take advantage of, he also recommend this song and got us all the help we needed.

Notes:
*there's some clacking from the piano sustain pedal.
i couldn't do a thing about it so just close your eyes and pretend she's playing in the room with you

*please listen with head phones :)
I paned the violin and the piano to opposite ears for a surround sound feel

Hitrecord Testimonial: :)
I moved to central Wisconsin from Phoenix, Arizona in January and had to quit all
3 bands I was in to do it. Since i couldn't play any instruments, I felt like a part of me had died and pretty much had no purpose in life. I woke up, worked, ate, and slept like a robot. I felt like half a person. I wrote this song one day last month and the next day I just happened to find Hitrecord.org. I decided that if I was ever going to be able to finish any of my songs again THIS WOULD BE THE PLACE TO DO IT!
so I sat my ass down in front of my computer, learned how to use garage band and pushed myself until I had something worth presenting to you all. The last few weeks of my life have been outstanding! I feel as though I have a purpose and this community has given me a new lease on life, that no matter where I am, I can be connected to other artistis and musicians who like me, want to create, share and LOVE.
I am so HAPPY :D and it's your fault.
Again By Heart,
❥Riana

p.s
if anyone would like to collaborate with me on a new record, this one is in progress :)

My attempt at a Christmas Song for filmpunk's collab. I'll upload the wavs too if anybody wants em!

As we sidestep through November
We set sights fast on December
And that day we all remember
To the fire’s dying ember

December, December
You chill us to our bones
December, December
A time for going home

In the air my breath turns white
As day so quickly turns to night
This early turn suits me alright
Instead of the sun the stars burn bright

The Christmas chill nostalgia bringing
Familiar songs old favourites singing
In every quarter bells are ringing
To each other we are clinging

December, December
You chill us to our bones
December, December
A time for going home

All together for a day
We do things the old-fashioned way
We celebrate against the grey
Of leafless trees that icy sway

December, December
You chill us to our bones
December, December
A time for going home

Okay, so I know...It's a dangerous thing to come up with your own Christmas song....but I just wanted to. I love Christmas, and I hope you like it! *Still needs tons of work. And, if you like, you can add whatever you want! (especially harmonies!!) I kinda thought it would be cute if a guy sang the 2nd verse and I would harmonize the chorus with them or vice versa...maybe not, just an idea. I'd be happy with whatever!! Merry Christmas!

For guitar chords: I believe it's standard tuning, no capo (possibly capo 1?) D, D Variation, G Chorus: D, B7 variation, G, D, B7 Variation, D

Lyrics:

Christmas time is here
The smell of snow is near
Celebrate cause it's Christmas
Christmas time is here
Hold your loved ones dear
Hold them close don't let them go

Chorus:
So grab your loved ones and hold them tight
For the wonders of a Christmas night
It's the magic in the air
Through the cold we bare

Christmas time is here
Feel the joy an cheer
Celebrate cause it's Christmas
Christmas time is here
Smell the snow it's near
Hold it close don't let it go
Chorus

Love, Katie

When I’m caught out in the rainstorm
When I’m weary and alone
Wrap me tightly, keep my bones warm
Give me shelter, take me home

When I’m drowning in the dark days
When I’m flooded with regret
And the sorrow sends me sideways
Give me shelter from the wet

When I’m sinking into puddles
Soaking nearly to the skin
Wallowing in all my muddles
Whisper to me, take me in

Neath the trees and under awnings
In the archways and the caves
Clouds reveal a new sun dawning
And a light that softly saves

Every puddle is a mirror
Every raindrop is a test
Each downpour can draw you nearer
Or still further from your best

When I’m caught out in a rainstorm
When I’m weary and alone
Wrap me tightly, keep my bones warm
Give me shelter, take me home

This is a strings take on Metaphorest's "Hibernate, Hermit" song with the music being mainly influenced by the song but not exactly a "strings version" of the same song. Metaphorest was very nice to re-sing it for the music. Many thanks to her. She did a great job and the original version is awesome. Do check it out first if you haven't yet.

skin me up with the words you spoke

like virgin steel to a veteran oak

like a goodnight kiss when you know it's broke

but you'd rather fall asleep

deception pass on a summer morn

with billows of fog like the dress you wore

when you and i and the good lord swore

and i kissed you on the teeth

oh, that's a long way to go without something to long for

and my, that's a long way to fly without someone to call for

puget sound, plenty late at night

when the moon is out and the water shines

it reminded me of your younger eyes

and your younger disposition

i know i'm nothing new to you

but i'll have you know a thing or two

i've got a tune that i've been humming through

and you've always like musicians

your lyrics found me in a very low-fidelity mood :) i imagine this song being played by a very sweaty band in some hole-in-the-wall bar packed wall to wall with happy drunks.

(which, i'm guessing, wasn't your original vision when you wrote those words down. whoops!)

lyrics (copied from http://www.hitrecord.org/records/363976 )

you just close your eyes and sleep

like the avereage human being

you used to be a dreamer

a cloudwalker

you used to be a prayer

a late night microwaver

funny dreams

from mix of Melatonin and caffeine

coffee with old marshmellows and

pecan praline icecream

you used to be okay

with recycled wind

and my mental decay

talking inbetween the lines

reading all your old newspapers from 1999

but you're no dreamer to me

and i'm no dreamer to you

just dreaming about driving and crashing cars

when you used to dream about me, too

you're not the dreamer i thought i knew..

I found Jooshua's guitar track and it sounded like a simple/sweet love song. So, that is just what I made it out to be. I wanted to try something different, and I played some real drums and piano for once, hopefully that trend will continue. The lyrics are overly simple, perhaps somebody else may want to write up something better, but they work for what the song is.

And finally, and most importantly, the awesome Robo J was kind enough to add some kicking bass to the tune. Well, there you have it. Hope the mix sounds ok. I tried some new things.

Cold and Gray
I wash the day away
not many things to say

Chorus:
Superman, where have you gone
I am not so strong
You help me to belong

Superman in Seattle
I have lost the battle

Drinking for no Gain
Hoping to seal the Pain

Silly little love song.

To This:

Once upon a start I wished for you.
Well who knew they came true?
I count my blessings one by one,
That its only just begun.

And every breath I take is all for you,
It's all for you,
And every beat my heart makes,
It's all for you.
So let us kiss to this,
let us kiss to this.

Oh could this be a dream my mind's unfurled?
This feeling's so beyond this world.
I give to you my love stoned heart,
Your little work of art.

So Cchellez challenged me to write a cheery song about a dreary subject - and, well, I cheated a bit and recorded a song that I've had floating about for a long while. Hope this still qualifies as a challenge met! :)

I'd love to hear this remixed so if anybody wants separate tracks lemme know!

Ps. The guitar is tuned to drop d and the chords are umm..D and A and some ones I made up that are like the top three strings on the 5th, 7th and 2nd fret :P

Exhumed a body from my bedroom yesterday
He shook the dust off then here’s what he had to say
Don’t waste a second - live loud everyday

The skeleton that’s under my bed
Is talkative although he’s dead
He's my bony motivator
To do it now instead of later

He writes me haikus, telling me to go outside
Let go the recluse, even though I’d rather hide
Step out the front door, life’s on your side

The skeleton that’s under my bed
Is talkative although he’s dead
He’s my bony motivator
To do it now instead of later

My friendly skeleton
He shows me how it’s done
I know one day I’ll be one
Til then I’m gonna have some fun

The skeleton that’s under my bed
Is talkative although he’s dead
He’s my bony motivator
To do it now instead of later

I pack his bones up neatly in the old suitcase
I’ve gotten sick of his hollow judgmental face
I’m happy fleeting floating in space

The skeleton that’s under my bed
Is talkative although he’s dead
He’s my bony motivator
To do it now instead of later

My friendly skeleton
He shows me how it’s done
I know one day I’ll be one
Til then I’m gonna have some fun

Deffo needs more vocals layers or maybe even a different voice altogether singing it but here is a start! I was so in love with spaceship's track I had to do this. :)

Eventually be very cool to make a video using the tiny story animations...

I love pixel pilgrim's song. I added some drums. There's a lot of excellent sing-along moments. Anybody frisky enough to give it a go? Also, I find the whole thing très cinématique, so who's got some visuals for us?

Overnight tonight, I'll upload a zip of all the stems/resources/ProTools files, etc. (YIKES! the tech problems grow and my shit's erased! unless some miraculous recovery happens, the files no longer exist! Well, I guess I'll just have to play these drums again. It'll be better the second go-around) This could definitely use a better mix, ahem...

I wanted to add more stuff (bass especially) but, surprise surprise, i'm having troubles with the ol' REC Room rig, and at this point it crashes when I add anything new to the project? :o/

Also worth noting that I generally like to encourage everyone to record themselves on video when playing music. You just never know when that visual element might come in handy. I did not do that here, partially out of tech frustration, and mostly because my soul really just couldn't wait to play the drums already :o)

My final challenge attempt for the night is for sfdetroiter. I hope it does her pantoum, 40, justice...It's a relatively simple tune, but the words are fantastic! I loved the structure and beauty behind the words...and also she dared me to do this record specifically, so I hope I made it worth your while, sfdetroiter.

While the RECord is resourced, here are the "lyrics":

Must this dark picture be my destiny?
In your penned note, I hear my own voice call…
The windows turn to mirrors at night-fall,
As I act scenes from your blind prophecy.

In your penned note, I hear my own voice call –
The woman you were, I will one day be.
As I act scenes from your blind prophecy,
I watch my life drip slowly down the wall:

The woman you were, I will one day be.
Here, in your last words, you describe it all –
I watch my life drip slowly down the wall;
I grope to salvage what is left of me.

Here in your last words you describe it all.
Must this dark picture be my destiny?
I grope to salvage what is left of me…
The windows turn to mirrors at night-fall.

(See? Told you it was fantastic.)

we'll spend our time look out for each other
and leave the rest of the world to drown itself
all those times, i bled

and the clouds are beginning to rotate
that always signifies some sort of change
whatever hours we wasted counting raindrops
could have been spent fixing all the holes

and i don't read enough about current events...
but i'm sure, in time, it'll work itself out

we'll count all the bodies
and shake the floor loose, shake the floor loose
watch them all just slide between the cracks
making wet sounds as they fall underneath
it can be our own little asia

sample a RECord; add a beat; repeat, repeat, repeat

when i first heard Metaphorest's harmonized a cappella jam on repetition, i immediately wanted to turn it into a beat-driven dance-y thing.

a day or two later, i stumbled across Expoobident's ethereal reworking of dali's a cappella 'what is time?' and fell in love with that.

so, i cut up Metaphorest, sampled some of Expoobident, took a bunch of (mostly) unused little bits and pieces i'd made at various points over the last couple of years and threw the whole lot together...

REmix of Joe's original RECord, featuring myself with Dusty, Amy, Unusual Suspect, KittyPimms and Ginella.

this is the FIRST version for the collab. this isn't the "final" (technically, there is no final version, haha). But I will add more contributions as I get to them. I just downloaded Joe's original stems, so I will get to work mixing those along with new added vocals.

Many wonderful thanks to those to added their voices to the song. Did my best to mix everybody in there. Hope you enjoy

{for fraeulein}
\\
For this challenge, fraeulein challenged me to look at her photo album and write a song to one of them. Well, as you can see, I chose her fantastic "Feeling Winter" and "Heimat I/II". This is the first part of a two-part song. While this one is instrumental, I think it may be able to hold its own. I am working on the one with vocals, and will have that up soon. I hope this is something you enjoy listening to, fraeulein, just as much as I enjoyed making it for you...

(I hope you don't mind, fraeulein, that I used your portrait picture for the icon. I thought it fit well. If you want me to change it, I will.)

holy guacamole!! everyone and their mother has done a remix of this song!! and there is good reason why. its an awsome song!!! i also have a rendition of my own to contribute. its from different earlier collaborators of the song. its basically the vocals, piano, strings, percusions, claps, and bass. i also added a few drums of my own to the mix. i wanted to add as many different collaborators to my mix, but by the time i was done mixing this version, a thousand more collaborators uploaded their ideas to the song. so sorry if i didnt add your contributions to this mix. i could always go back and add more collaborators to this version later down the road. hope you enjoy!!!

another from Hildegard von Bingen, mystic 12th century abbess, herbalist, visionary and all-around polymath. this was considered by many to be her magnum opus; after her death, the nuns at the abby swore they saw her walking thru the halls, singing this song.

i haven't performed this live for 10+ years (it's a challenge! and this recording took forever!!); back then, we did it with violin, keyboard, and a world beat vibe....so it's sung with spaces for drumming, etc. be great to see it remixed, sampled, etc into something danceable! :-)

i wanted this to sound church-like.. does that make sense? :/ lately i've have had this poem in my head constantly.. especially the last part. so i made this song. not very happy with vocals so if anyone wants to sing it i will upload the instrumental.
lyrics:

Repeating rhythms, Tracing traditions
Stealing scales and cutting chords and making history of prehistoric patterns, coming back up and out of our shells,
from our hearts, whose every beat is a prayer
There's something I love, I swear something's there.
a pattern, a prayer
a pattern, a prayer
a pattern, a prayer
a pattern, a prayer
a pattern, a prayer
a pattern, a prayer
a pattern, a prayer
a pattern, a prayer
a pattern, a prayer
a pattern, a prayer

Water floats around my head

Water floats around my head

Clouds move in and hide the sun

I close my eyes and take a breath

A lark is singing overhead

You say "Yes, we're sinking now,

But can you hear that wondrous sound?"

Ooh

We're sinking now

We're sinking down

We're sinking now

We're sinking down

I close my eyes for one last breath

A lark is singing overhead

You say "Yes, we're sinking now,

But can you hear that wondrous sound?"

I first joined hitRECord about, say, 7 hours ago and pretty much the first thing I heard was this drums and bells loop by gweninterrupted. I just had to do something with it!

So, 7 hours later, here's my first proper RECord (is that right?), a summery love song I suppose. Hope you'll enjoy it and I just want to say I already love it here, so see you around!

i took my man out swimming
i took him for a ride
i took him for a dive and
i took his hand in mine

this valley full of wishes
i hollowed out for love
this time i might forget him -
he doesn't look like you.

So I'd been trying for ages to come up with some lyrics to go with amferraro's Careless Young...and couldn't manage it, til he posted a poem 'To a Singer' which set me off! This is a very simple addition - the music is so beautiful on its own I didn't want to overdo it.  I much prefer Anthony's own song for this poem but thought I'd post this anyway in case it could be of use/interest! :)

cool breeze from a summer night ocean waves gonna slow down time i betcha

worries will float away for a while

sunrise on a salty plane of blue as we make a toast

here's to you and i and may we never ever boast

seagulls fly away in pairs, gold rays gonna bleach my hair

and let your memories savor this for a while

red skin on the sunset blvd. makes it our last night

who knows what the future holds but who cares tonight

lets go back for another dip, spice it up like a slasa chip

and let our worries float away for a while

and every joke i say quickly gets old
but this is my return to form

Lyrics:

Now I know that it won’t be that simple,
After everything that has passed
I’m sorry that it has to come to this
I’m sorry that we crashed

When I left I made sure I took everything
Even your small amount of dignity
Now I’m laughing at how stupid I was in the past
crying over nothing at all
I can’t believe I fell for all the stories that you told
At least you’re good in bed, and I’m gonna’ keep the clothes.
You think it’s funny that you really got away with this?
Well it’s funny what I did to your car

I swerved past lies
You swerved past the truth
And it’s a shame the faith I had in you
The feelings that I held
the feelings I felt
I guess you should’ve worn seat belt

I crashed into love
And now I’m running away from love
You crashed your heart in mine
But it was just a waste of time

All the glass I have to clean up
After leaving all this mess behind
You might need something that will stop the bleeding
But I know that I’ll get better in time
You said you loved me and you said you cared
But I found out what was really inside

Now, did you really think that I didn’t know? You must be the stupid one because I’m not that slow. You’re really a fool for doing that to me. It also sucks that you gave me your car key. You might want to be careful next time; the next one might burn your house down or something. I know what you did. I know the truth. And now you’ll never hear me say I love you.

I swerved past secrets
You swerved past my trust
And if you think you’ll win, well honey, good luck
You thought you’re sneaky,
Well I caught your ass
Too bad you didn’t have some air bags

I crashed into love
And now I’m running away from love
You crashed your heart in mine
But it was just a waste of time

I hope that you’re in pain and I hope you cry
you need to learn that it’s not ok to lie
It doesn’t matter what you do for me
And it doesn’t matter what you say
It’s unfair what you did to me
And there’s a punishment you have to pay

Listen closely because I’m only going to say this once: you had your chance, so just give up. You’re lucky that I only went as far as your car…but if I ever find out that something else happened, I’m gonna crash my own car. I’m gonna crash it into you.

I swerved past shame
You swerved past deceit
When you lie in bed I hope you think of me
I swerved past right
You swerved into wrong
and now I’m gonna’ crash your sorry ass car

I crashed into love
And now I’m running away from love
You crashed your heart in mine
But it was just a waste of time

When someone asks what happened to you
I’ll them what you did to me
You lied, you cheated, and you stole my trust
And I’m gonna get revenge, honestly.
So when I come around, you might want to hide
Because you know that I’m gonna crash your sorry ass ride

I crashed into love
And now I’m running away from love
You crashed your heart in mine
But it was just a waste of time

Update: I'm rreallly not sure if this is a Public Domain melody...can anyone help me out!?

A Maori lullaby written in 1907 by Princess Te Rangi Pai. I have long been fascinated by the Maori culture and language, and this is one of my favourite songs...so beautiful.

It was published in 1907, which, from my understanding means it is in the Public Domain...if it's not, humblest apologies and I will take this to the Deletion Collab without further ado.

Anyway, this is Monday Night Lullaby...goodnight! <3

Ps I really hope I haven't massacred the pronounciation!

E tangi ana koe

[You are weeping]

Hine e hine

[Little girl, darling girl]

E ngenge ana koe

[You are weary]

Hine e hine

[Little girl, darling girl]

Kati tö pouri rä

[Be sad no longer]

Noho i te aroha

[There is love for you]

Te ngäkau o te Matua

[In the heart of the father]

Hine e hine

[Little Girl, darling Girl]

This is an old Appalachian spiritual from the 19th century that's in the public domain. It sometimes goes by the name Down to the River, but the first written versions used valley instead of river, so that's what I did here. It was sung by slaves working the field and first appeared in a book of slave songs in 1867. suzyrene brought it to my attention on tumblr.

I love this song and added some oooohs over the verses. I think this is a great song to build on, and I would love to hear other voices on it +harmonies. It just begging for a whole chorus of people. I tried coming up with a harmony after I composed the ooooh harmony, but it wasn't working, so I figured I'd throw it out to you guys.

The lyrics - roughly - are below. I didn't deviate hugely, but they're not 100% accurate.

As I went down in the valley to pray

Studyin' about that good old way

And who shall wear the starry crown

Good Lord, show me the way

Oh fathers let's go down

Let's go down come on down

Oh fathers let's go down

Down in the valley to pray

As I went down in the valley to pray

Studyin' about that good old way

And who shall wear the robe and crown

Good Lord, show me the way

Oh mothers let's go down

Come on down don't you wanna go down

Come on mothers and let's go down

Down in the valley to pray

As I went down in the valley to pray

Studyin' about that good old way

And who shall wear the starry crown

Good Lord, show me the way

Oh brothers let's go down

Let's go down come on down

Come on brothers and let's go down

Down in the valley to pray

As I went down in the valley to pray

Studyin' about that good old way

And who shall wear the robe and crown

Good Lord, show me the way

Come on sinners and let's go down

Let's go down oh, come on down

Come on sinners and let's go down

Down in the valley to pray

As I went down in the valley to pray

Studyin' about that good old way

And who shall wear the starry crown

Good Lord, show me the way

and someone asked for the lyrics:

drag your feet, keep your life strapped to your shoulders.

if you don't carve your age into your belt, you wont get any older

it's a mixed up masquerade, a penniless arcade

every face a frown, oh what a crazy town

hang your head, they'll steal the toes right off of your feet

you're lucky to count all ten, when you're living on the street

its a story thats been told, a body thats been sold

'round and around and around. oh what a crazy town

(see) joy around here comes in a little pink balloon

and if you got out of here yesterday it wouldn't be too soon

it's a cardboard palisade, a pocket change brigade

every way is down. oh what a crazy town

The rhyming creation myth by wirrow and Metaphorest.  I tweaked the words just a little, and my draft of the text is resourced below.  And here I recorded a reading of it.  There's already been lots of great readings of this poem, and I hope there are more to come.  I think it might be cool to mix a grand multitude of voices together to tell this story.

The next thing that probably ought to happen is for visual artists to start drawing specific parts.  Pick a stanza you like, or even just one line and turn it into any sort of image.  Maybe pretty soon we could have a bit of a storybook slideshow going, which is usually an important step in big animation projects.

LYRICS:

let's play pretend
until the end,
whenever that will be.

we'll dress in gowns
and dance around
and jump into the sea.

we'll float and fly
straight through the sky
in our hot air balloon,

and then we'll race
to outer space
and steal ourselves the moon.

let's make believe
and never leave
our own fantasy land.

we'll sing love songs
forever long,
now wouldn't that be grand?

and even though
inside we'll know
nothing is as it seems,

as long as we're
together here,
who needs reality?

sang my lyrics over wirrow/gwen's amazing song. um... i hope this isn't terrible. <3 be sure to check out metaphorest's song for these lyrics (resourced) - it's the cheerful version. this is the melancholy version...

i

am uncomfortable

with the way you say my name

cause i

do not belong to you

though you call me something strange

i

can't seem to stay awake

and i don't know what that means

for i

am an astronaut

i have nothing under me

you

are really starting to

climb inside my head

we

are like a negative

hung to dry above my bed

keep

me on this canyon floor

i don't want to venture out

your name

it sounds so strange to me

it's an unfamiliar sound

I'm not THAT bitter, really. But can you blame a guy for getting a little batshit around this time of year? From my collection of "Songs for the Short-of-Attention".

OK so I wrote some lyrics and I sang the song. BUT I think this song needs two things. A good singer and a female singer, both of which I am not. So if you want to take a crack at it, please be my guest. The lyrics will be posted below and the song without my vocals will be resourced. Also feel free to change the lyrics up any way you want. REMIX!!!

[lyrics]

It's just another lonely Christmas

Didn't get anything on the wish list

The mistletoe it went kissless

and no one said hey we missed ya

It's just another lonely Christmas

it's just another lonely day

But Santa you forgot to come my way

At least I got my cats and beer

But I've been so good this year

And all I got was a lump of coal

And the drunk santa at the mall calling me a ho

ho ho ho no,

it's just another lonely Christmas

Just another lonely day

But Santa you forgot to come my way

It's just another lonely Christmas

Didn't get anything on the wish list

The mistletoe it went kissless

and no one said hey we missed ya

It's just another lonely Christmas

It's just another lonely Christmas

An incredible, wonderful friend bought me recording equipment which arrived today. When I first read pamagotchi's Silent Night REmix, I knew I wanted to sing it, but I got distracted by a million other things; however, when my present arrived today, I knew immediately that this should be the first test run. So here it is! I hope you like it!

So my little brother asked me to arrange a piano duet of Greensleeves for us to play for the family on Christmas (I know, how cuuuuuuute). It's nothing particularly innovative, but here ya go.

Lyrics:

Like autumn leaves I'm falling

Tumbling to the ground for you

Lost a hold of where I've once been

Captured by a gust of you

Swept away by you

Made to dance in your breeze

Left to flutter aimlessly

Like autumn leaves I'm falling

I'm falling for you

Helplessly I'm falling

I'm pulled away by you

Like autumn leaves I'm falling

I'm falling

I'm falling

I'm falling

ghosts of you are

singing softly

through the walls and

under floorboards.

goodnight sweet princes and princesses,

may flights of angels with umbrellas shield your sacred heads from rain

as you flow sweetly on your way.

our lives will never be the same..

Lyrics:

I heard the weatherman say
tomorrow there'll be snow
but the moon is shining so bright
and it isn't very cold

but it doesn't matter to me
'cause I'll soon be going home
and Christmas Day, I'll be with you all
singing merry Christmas songs

Let the snow fall where it may
and when it does, let the children play
when the presents are exchanged, I'll be happy to say
I'll be home on Christmas Day

Hark the Herad Angels Sing
Jingle Bells, and a one horse sleigh
Joy to the World - a new born king
and I'll be home on Christmas day

Through the year I'm all alone
but I've lots of things to do
working hard all day not to get behind
and feeling tired when its through

But this time of year comes around
and I'm thinking 'bout my home
Christmas Day, I'll be with you all
singing Merry Christmas Songs

Let the snow fall where it may
and when it does, let the children play
when the presents are exchanged, I'll be happy to say
I'll be home on Christmas Day

Hark the Herad Angels Sing
Jingle Bells, and a one horse sleigh
Joy to the World - a new born king
and I'll be home on Christmas day

So here is my first attempt at a challenge set forth by the lovely Metaphorest to me...an (approximately) 30 sec christmas song for filmpunk/matt conley collabs. I am going to try and record more traditional, public domain christmas songs soon...but for now, this.

What I had no idea was that Christmas songs are insanely difficult to write without sounding absolutely cheesy. I don't think I completely accomplished moving past that cheesiness, but it was fun to try it anyway!

If there are any changes anybody would like to make...add...anything, just let me know. I can have the separate stems on here in a flash.

Hope it's Christmasy enough :)

LYRICS:

i can't wait for christmas this year

the snow, the trees
the hearts, they sing out loud

i can't wait for christmas each year

the christmas choir
the bells, they sing out loud

It's a Christmas Song! Kind of...Thanks to Kat and Shugs for the music, and Reverie for the first verse :)

La Letra:

[Outside there is a blizzard, the nighttime's droning on

The wind will soon be blowing in an icy, chilly dawn

There's no cold to be felt, although, despite the frozen storm…

Because I’m sitting with you. And you keep me warm.] - Reverie's bit

Been waiting for your plane to come, been waiting half a year

It didn’t feel like Christmas until you came home my dear…

So I'm calling in a snow day- I’m not leaving this hotel

You’re my favorite part of winter, you remind me of the bells.

So let’s drink from the bottle and we’ll whine about our schools

We’ll eat a billion Red Hots and pretend we’re really cool

We’ll fog up all the windows drawing portraits on the glass

And sleeping’s not an option til the bells strike up for Christmas mass...

And I think you know I love you even though it goes unsaid

I see you once a year but you are always in my head

And I’m too scared to ask if you’re in love with me as well

So I treasure every moment up until we hear the bells…

So, I wrote these sappy lyrics about Christmas a week or so back, and I figured I would try and turn them into a song...so tadah! Christmas power pop! Used MeganCarnes' wonderful "Float Away" instrumental.

Dedicated to you all: thank you for your constant love and encouragement. I wish you all Happy Holidays and all the best for the year to come! Let's make it a cracker <3

Ghastly Remains... wonderful icon by Box Sets artist B Douglas

having trouble with hyperlinking, but stems are here: http://www.hitrecord.org/records/855017

Lyrics: Don't be scared of my love (scratched up) I don't know, I don't know why... (we don't know, we don't know) 1st verse You speak so freely like I'm not even there This guy that guy this guy that guy this guy over there It really ain't the fact that I wasn't prepared cuz I was then I found out you still cared What to do there?  I dunno  (we dunno) I'm still a boy (interchangeable with "I'm still in love") 2nd verse The laughter screams your name All the good people walk through me, sending me insane Like I was Just a ghost. past tense and hollow but still a host of intense sentiments too hot to swallow. I'm opposed to this.   I miss ya miss. I bless bless you without the hachoo I spot you in a room and I'm posessed by a spirit to get nearer Flesh to flesh is transparent right now but it'll soon be apparent somehow my love for you remains

A Box Sets song. Evan and Becca. This was very HitRECordy in that I had a version of her song called Something New which was just one track of acoustic guitar and voice. I chopped it up and made it fit this. she added a few more vocals, i added rap and more music and we were done.

Hope it is useful.

I've got a secret to tell you

Yes, I've got a secret to tell you

When you close your eyes

The sun won't rise

When you go to bed

The moon is dead

You've been so quiet

Don't deny what you know you are

I can't believe it anymore

But I've gone too far

The devil himself

Couldn't be as happy as you

And mother told me

Always to follow the golden rule

I've got a secret to tell you

Yes, I've got a secret to tell you

When you close your eyes

The sun won't rise

When you go to bed

The moon is dead

You've been so quiet

Don't deny what you know you are

I can't believe it anymore

But I've gone too far

I remembered innocence

I've been guilty ever since

Let’s Get started!!

Let’s skip the talking, steady rocking, I’m a walking to the sound of a bird!

He’s a pistol, let him whistle, all melodies that you never heard!

And he can make, all of your problems disappeeeeear!!

Let’s make ruckus!!

Let’s take a second, to reflect on all the heckling that we’re gonna do!

And we can focus on a motive while I hop a locomotive with you!

And it’s tough, because we, don’t wanna stop!!

Let’s get Kooky!

Let’s make a fire, pop a tire, cut a wire,  make a Snow Avalanche!

And now we’re cookin, no one’s lookin, While I do my legs and Shake my dance!

And now I’m breathless, I am! But I don’t……… care.

"Yes, We're Sinking" played in reverse. My favorite part starts around the 1:19 mark, although I do like the beginning (what used to be the end) quite a bit too. The actual lyrics sound a little strange, which was expected, but it kinda makes me wish I could speak in some cool new language.

I re-recorded this song last month sometime now that my piano is in tune, but never posted it because I'm still not totally in love with the way it ended up sounding. Anyway, I would love love LOVE for this song to be remixed or even started over from scratch. I tried to pay more attention to my timing and everything this time so it will be easier for anyone that wants to add to it. If you're interested, let me know and I'll upload the stems. I really want to take this song to a whole other world, more voices, more ambient sounds, more more more! I want the "ooo" section to sound heavenly, so if you have any ideas, please share! Chords: Verses: C Am Em C Am Em C Am Em F G Oohs: C Em (a million times) and at the end it's F Em Am then another verse and end in C
