If I Wanted to Be Loved By The Sun by aikimo- I like this record because the words feel like they are already a song-  I just don't know how to sing it yet. There is MUSIC in the letters, I can feel it! The cadence is lovely, I even love the way the title flows right off my tongue....if I wanted to be loved by the sun. Say it out loud. Say it! It's nice, isn't it?

Crack a Smile by speric- I have a bit of a thing with skulls. I just like them- the way this is set up makes me think is something hiding in the skull's mouth, just behind the teeth, something you can pull out and read like a surprise or maybe a piece of candy. Make space for me in your smile...

Summer in Spain (reading) by pamagotchi- Oh god, this is so sexy. I loved this poem as a text rec but DAMN PAM. I heard this with the spanish guitar in the background and flashed back to my time in Puerto Rico, getting hot so I don't want to move much- droplets condensing on the sides of tall glasses of cold water, pulpy lemons in my drinks brushing up against my lips, stone floors and open windows...Tans and sheets. It's all right there in pam's voice- can't you hear it?

a new hevn v. 2 Todd's VO by todd68976- Am I the only who who imagined todd as having a completely different voice? He has SUCH a good narrator voice, I want him to stand behind me all day and be like "sel pondered the solemn intricacies of her daily routine, eventually coming to the conclusion that he or she who designs the back of cereal boxes is clearly and definitively on crystal meth." But in all seriousness, I really like what he did- making this timeless rhyme seem like an audiobook that can be read, like a modern myth of narratorial proportions!

Pray for Japan by vanya- The tragedy in Japan is a catastrophe that everyone needs to be paying attention to, especially as the aftereffects of the earthquake and tsunami become exacerbated by the nuclear crisis. In the face of so much death, it's easy to feel powerless. We pray, we give money, we support the cause, but our hearts still break from the force of our inability to do more. This record, a simple portrait by the obscenely talented-and-I-wish-he-would-rec-more vanya, is so beautiful it breaks my heart all over again. Raising awareness for Japan is one way of doing your part to heal these wounds so thank you, vanya.
