Normally I make a point of sticking only to RECords done in the last increment of time between one Re-REC album and the next, but there are one or two in here that have snuck in and are so gosh-darn lovely (and, in my opinion, unappreciated) that I couldn't not include them. I'm wild and crazy like that and break my own self-imposed rules, what can I say?
Audio
Metaphorest's Ravens (Remix) by The Morning Hollows - I love this song because it's the perfect example of how just the tiniest and most seemingly inconsequential of tweaks can turn something from just "nice" to "transcendentally lovely". Just the texture of a male voice and the pounding heartbeat-like percussion in the background makes this song instantly perfect gritty, creepy, dark, and haunting. My only complaint, and literally, there is only one, is that it ends too abruptly. I want it to sort of peter out with more humming and percussion. But the atmospherics of this song with this song are amazing, amazing, amazing.
you&me by KatieR90 - I'm super-duper excited about spring and even kind of excited about summer (which if you knew how much I hate heat, would be appropriately shocking) and this song is such a perfectly warm weather love song. It makes me want to run along the edge of the beach and get my toes wet and have ice cream with the window rolled down.

hevn & urth by Lea Daniel - So this may or may not be clear to anyone who has ever seen any of my art (it's probably clear), but I am a massive, massive fangirl of anything Art Nouveau related. I fucking love Art Nouveau. If it was possible to marry a style of art, I would. This holiday season three (three!) people, without consulting each other, got me Art Nouveau-related gifts. I have an entire folder on my computer just about Art Nouveau that I can, at a moment's notice, cue up and give an impromptu lecture on the entire movement. That is how much I love Art Nouveau.
The most famous illustrator of the Art Nouveau movement was Aubrey Beardsley. (Though he's also clearly influenced by other movements and in turn also clearly influenced Art Deco, but that's a long, nerdy discussion no one wants to get into.) And I like and respect him, but I'm not like OH MY GOD DO ME the way I am about other Art Nouveau people because he's, frankly, kind of creepy weird. But he explains my love for this image. I know it's not the vision, exactly, of the Creation myth, but I am utterly ass over teakettle in love with it. It's so Art Nouveau. It's like Aubrey Beardsley without bein creepy. It's gorgeous and graphic and iconic and lovely. And I totally want to see a second animation done just in this style. In short, I love this piece of art, and I'm a nerd, but really I just love this.
a new hevn: minimalist poster by fractaldust - We've all seen minimalist movie posters, right? When done properly, they're amazing. And boy, does Dusty do this poster properly. It's everything a minimalist poster should be - graphic, evocative, intriguing, plus it's also adorable and uses my favorite verse of the entire poem (walking hand in hand! adorable!). I vote we adopt this as the logo of the whole project and stick it up everywhere. Like, right now.
hit REC poster by coleiobrien - Speaking of fantastic minimal yet graphic poster design, this was my absolute favorite discovery from last week's re-RECs. Bold, graphic, kind of retro-inspired, but completely on-point. If this was printed as a poster, there's a high likelihood I'd at least consider buying it. (Though as previously mentioned, I'm extremely cheap to the point of it being a neurosis and have issues buying anything for myself including food, but I'd at least be wrestling over if I should or not, okay?)

The Time Lapse Flowers Blooming album by SFBakstad - Remember how I said I was excited for spring? Yeah. I've spent an inordinate amount of time this week staring at these and going "oooooh!" They're just stupidly, ridiculously gorgeous and the production quality of them is phenomenal and I could watch them on loop all day, every day.
Text
Talk. by blbest - Do you ever read something and have that feeling like you've been trying to write exactly what that person has been saying for forever, and you've been, like, edging around it, and then someone else manages to sneak in, incept you, and write it themselves, and you can't even be mad because of how awesome it is? Because that's how I feel when I read this poem.
assuming there's respect to be had by sexymoustache - I know Gwen is uncomfortable with praise, so I'll keep this brief. Basically, this poem is awesome. It's sexy in a raw, filthy, brutal, disgusting, awesome sort of way. It's honest and cutting and evocative and basically kind of swell. I could go on for longer, but I like Gwen alive, and writing, and not making pained noises while I praise her, so I'll stop.

WORK[SPACE] by alpal - This is like a cinematography warm, fuzzy blanket. It's visually stunning and fantastically shot and edited and makes veeeery tiny, boring objects into something that's both fascinating and compelling.
Smoke & Cigarettes by pixography_film - Okay, let's be honest - nothing happens in this video. It's a bunch of dudes with cigarettes fondling old-timey camera equipment. There is no reason it should be interesting and awesome and make you want to watch it a million times and I still do. And what's more, I want to, like, create a movie for the sole purpose of just using this footage. Do I have any project I could conceivably use this on? No. But I just might not be able to resist sticking it in there anyway. I mean, old-timey cameras. A girl can only resist so much temptation.
A student film about a chaotic old ages shooting !
hevn wailed, heart torn in two
“can you not understand?
i only want us to be one
forever hand in hand.”

i'm obsessed with minimalist movie posters and had to make one for our current project. <3
I saw Meta posted the stems for this to Albert, and I noticed that he might want some male vocals in the song. All I did was sing along with it, not really any fancy harmonies or anything, so I can post my vocals alone if you happen to want them. Or, I can even record different harmonies if you like. It might even be best if I wasn't singing the entire time. All just an idea, nothing big. Let me know. :)
hello world! here's a song that could be improved ten trillion times better than it is. but please, anything else like; claps, snaps, drums, extra guitar. whatever! (please?) originally played on the ukelele!!
Lyrics and chords (capo 3 standard tuning)
Chords: G,D,Em, C Chorus chords: G,D,Em,G,D,G
Thoughts of you, cross my mind,
when i wasn't looking, you're the one i find,
You always make me smile, even on a gloomy day,
and make me laugh, at the things you say,
Chorus:
It's you and me,
that's how it should be (oh, oh)
don't you think that we could be happy?
With you all i wanna do is smile,
cause with you, i'm never sad, you scare away the blues,
with you, i want you to stand with me,
i hope that you can see
my workspace. (incentive to clean my desk.)
I love how different it is from when I had to write that French paper...
