Mr. Peltaire, Confused? I don't believe it. I think old Jimbob's a little too wiley for that. Is hitrecord.org only my videos? Well, no, in that most of the videos I've put up on this site are collaborations with various people, and even the ones I made by myself stand at intersections of invaluable influences and inputs of innumerable individuals. However, is Hitrecord a closed system? Well, maybe, kind of. But that's what this CONTACT is for. The way I figure it, if somebody sends me something, and I like it, I'll put it up on my site. Or rather, I'll put up a link to it. For example, you. I haven't gotten a chance to watch all your stuff, but the one you sent me, homeless luvin, is great--your Jenny's got a sweet voice, and the lyrics made me smile. I can tell you both are having fun doing what you're doing, which is always fun to watch. Tangentially, I think one big reason why so much of pop culture is so boring is because the people making it are bored doing it. But to elaborate on what I (don't) think you're getting at, Jimbob... I think YouTube and MySpace and the like are tremendous temples with much to offer, but I don't see HitRECord the same way. Whereas those sites are general applications for anybody to use, I see this site as an individual creative outlet for, well, me. But it's not that I want to exclude the likes of you. Quite the opposite. I like the idea of everybody having their own site and linking to each other's. One thing I don't like about MySpace and YouTube is that they don't really look out for the best interest of the individuals who make the content, they look out for their own revenues. One example, why can't I download homeless luvin onto my hard drive? Because Rupert Murdoch the FoxMan wants me to have to log on to his site MySpace each and every time I want to hear your song. Well that sucks, because I don't always have access to an internet connection. And what if I want to put your song onto my iPod? Or what if I want to sample your song and make a new song out of it? That's why I put up all my records as files you can download. Well, that's one reason why; it's also because it just works more reliably than the streaming skipping out-of-sync nightmare on those behemoth sites. So, yeah, closed system... at least, that's how I see it for now, who knows what this system might become? Anyway, Jimbob, I hope your Your Space gets some hits from the above links. I think a lot of people will like your record, especially those folks with patience enough to read through my awesome project that always works. I hope I've managed to unreasonably meet your two requests, and perhaps begin to answer your commitment question as well... J |
