Yes, all the calendars say that March 6th was a Tuesday. Funny,
explaining these things, these habits I have that I’ve had for
who knows how long, but never had to explain before because I never
had a journal before that was intended for anybody else to read. Yes
well, this is my little way of saying that I haven’t slept yet,
and Monday doesn’t end, nor does Tuesday begin until I wake up
tomorrow. My sleep, I suppose, is a bit off kilter from about two days
of traveling From Asia to North America. Then again, I often stay up
all night when I start recording something.
Which I did tonight. GargeBand. Hell yes for free software. Just
a little song. Not one I wrote. Something we put on a few times up in
the mountains of Pai. Struck a chord as I left that window world and
headed home. It’s called I
Don’t Want To Live On The Moon, written by Jeff Moss and performed
originally by Ernie on Sesame Street. The Tea
Faerie says it makes her sad because she does want to live on the
moon.
Interesting--or, it interested me, I really have no idea if any
of you will find my happy sloppy recording hobby of much interest at
all in this case--the original lyric goes, “There’s so many
strange places that I’d like to be / But none of them permanently.”
I forgot to sing the word “strange.” But, by the time I
realized, I had already settled on that take, I didn’t want to
start all over, and I couldn’t punch in because I’d recorded
the acoustic guitar and vocal at the same time on the same track. So
whereas Ernie wants to explore strange places but maintain a sense of
permanence at home, I apparently want no permanence at all. That’s
really not what I meant. Abatiwa, certainly not the only mistake in
the thing.
